Warm Blessings Community Kitchen’s double oven went out. They are trying to raise $10,000 to cover the cost of a new one and installation. They are on track to feed 20,000 meals to the community this month.

The Most Anticipated Movies of 2025
Wolf Man (January 17)
Universal had big plans to reimagine several of the studio’s classic monster movies. But after the failure of 2017’s The Mummy, Universal cooled on the whole idea—until the success of Whannel’s The Invisible Man was a box office hit in 2020. Universal is relying on Whannell to reanimate a creepy classic.
Captain America: Brave New World (February 14)
It’s been nearly 10 years since audiences received a stand-alone Captain America movie, and Brave New World is sure to live up to its title. Largely because it’s the first big-screen project to feature Sam Wilson, the superhero formerly known as the Falcon, as the new Captain America.
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning (May 23)
We’ve seen enough Mission: Impossible movies over the past quarter-century to know what expect from The Final Reckoning: Tom Cruise running; Tom Cruise hanging off the side of a plane in some sort of entirely breathtaking stunt that no 62-year-old should undertake; and a little more Tom Cruise running. Somehow, it never stops being compelling. Despite the title, this isn’t necessarily the final film in the M:I series.
Ballerina (June 6)
This John Wick spin-off sees Ana de Armas as an assassin with revenge in her heart—and an ice skate-turned-weapon in her hand. With the creative minds behind the project, including director Len Wisemans and John Wick director Chad Stahelski, Ballerina is sure to be entertaining.
28 Years Later (June 20)
2002’s 28 days latter is arguably one of the greatest zombie movies ever, 27 years later (so close), we get what will be the third film in the mini franchise. Spiler alert, the “Rage Virus” is still very much raging.
Jurassic World Rebirth (July 2)
The past three decades haven’t always been kind to the original Jurassic Park’s legacy. Apart from the well-received 2015 Jurassic World, the series has largely been one of diminishing returns. But director Gareth Edwards’ hard reset on the franchise seems promising
Superman (July 11)
His first film in the DC Universe will undoubtedly be a bittersweet moment for Marvel fans who may have mixed feelings about Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn’s “defection” to the DCU. Gunn is now CEO of DC Studios, and he has already made changes that have rekindled some comic book stans. If Gunn’s past directorial results are any indication, Superman could prove to be one of the biggest hits of the summer.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps (July 25)
Both the 2005 and the ten year later installments didn’t perform well, will the third time be the charm for the Fantastic Four?
Avatar: Fire and Ash (December 19)
The second film in the series didn’t get a lot of buzz nor was it met with an overwhelming amount of positive chatter; however, The Way of Water still earned enough money to make it the third highest grossing movie of all time. Will Fire and Ash perform as well as its predecessors?

Let’s look back on some of the biggest successes and failures at the box-office in 2024.
Illumination’s Despicable Me 4 brought in $75 million on its opening weekend, bringing it just shy of a billion dollars worldwide to date.
Disney’s Moana 2 brought in nearly $140 million it’s opening weekend, with over $800 million worldwide to date.
Despite only being in theaters for five weeks, Universal Pictures’ Wicked is number three on our list, bringing in $112 Million on its opening weekend and nearly $600 Million worldwide to date.
Disney’s Deadpool & Wolverine brought in a staggering $211 Million for its opening weekend, and to date over $1.3 Billion dollars worldwide, making it the biggest earner for any rated R movie in history.
Disney’s Inside Out 2 was the biggest movie of 2024, bringing in over $154 Million on its opening weekend and nearly $1.7 Billion dollars worldwide to date beating box-office records for an animated film.
With a budget of $200 Million, Joker Folie a Deux bombed so hard that its now the biggest comic book flop of all time bringing in only $37 Million for its opening weekend.
Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 was supposed to be the first of a four-part series, but with an opening weekend of $8.6 Million, future movies have been canceled.
Francis Ford Coppola spent about $120 Million of his own money on Megalopolis, which only brought in $4 Million for its opening weekend.
Borderlands once again proved the difficulties of adapting a video game to the big screen, only bringing in $8.6 Million on its opening weekend.
With its poor directing and week vision, Madame Web is the worst Spider-Man universe movie of all time, only making $15 Million on its opening weekend.

Akasha has been at the shelter since mid-October and hopes to have her forever home for the holidays.Juliette is a 3 year old tri-color shepherd/hound mix that weighs 52 pounds. This good girl is sweet as sugar, knows how to sit and is semi housebroken. Juliette has been with the shelter for nearly 3 months now and is hoping her new family will come for her soon.The shelter will be opening late at 2pm on Friday December 6th. The shelter is still busting at the seams with dogs hoping to be home for the holidays and we are in the final days of our 8th annual Howliday gift drive special. Currently all adult dogs have their adoption fees waived when you bring in a new children's toy or gift card for the foster kids of Benchmark Family Services. Lots to cover today, let's start by meeting Lela. Lela is a 1 year old blue and white pittie mix that is super sweet and well behaved. She has great manners, loves people and other dogs and of course enjoys her play time. Lela is the shelters longest resident having been here since mid-June and even represented the shelter pets during the Dirty Dog Bash last month so we just can't see why this awesome girl is still waiting for her forever home.The shelter is busting at the seams with more than 80 dogs in care right now so that means its time for their Dog Days of Summer Special. Right now all dogs 5 months and older are free and puppies under 5 months are just $45! They all still receive their normal vetting including spay/neuter, microchip and at least one round of vaccinations. And for those wondering yes we have lots puppies to choose from right now and even a couple smaller dogs. The shelter is open for adoptions Monday through Saturday 12-4pm and is located at 220 Peterson Drive in E-town. Because they are currently so full we do not have an end date for the special at this time.But you know what we do have a date for - Their biggest rabies clinic of the year happening at the Hardin County Fairgrounds on September 28th from 10am to 2pm. We will be offering discounted vaccinations, microchips and county dog license during this event. We normally see around 400 pets during this clinic so if you are able to fill out a copy of the paperwork in advance you will get through the lines way faster. An advanced copy of the paperwork can be picked up in the office during regular business hours. If you plan on coming to this event please know it is cash or check only All dogs must be on a leash and cats must be in a carrier for everyone's safety. This week we will meet Maple and Princess, two new animals hoping for a furever home.
Maple is a 9 month old spayed female whippet that weighs just 24 pounds. She has plenty of energy, loves to play with toys and enjoys plenty of treats. Once she gets to run a little to get some energy out she just wants to be right beside her people and snuggle into your lap for lots of attention. Maple is a favorite around the shelter staff so we don’t know why this sweet girl has been here for nearly 2 months now.
And Princess is a 9 month old spayed female short hair with really unique coloring. She is brown and blonde with lots of dark spots all over her but her legs and tail are tiger striped. Princess is very sweet and loves peoples, she is a little bit of a chatter box and really enjoys making biscuits. Princess has been in the shelters care for nearly a month now and is eager to find a family she can share all her love with.

This week we will feature one dog since there is so much to cover. Let’s start with Bree. Bree is a 5 year old white and tan pit/boxer mix that weighs in at 78 pounds of lovable. She gets along with other dogs but is seeking a home without any pesky cats. Bree would love a home that gives her plenty of playtime but she also enjoys snacks on the couch. She has been in the shelters care for a few weeks now and is eager to find her forever home.
Since the start of Furever Friends back in 2017 we have adopted 586 of the 587 pets talked about on the show!
The Clear The Kennels special was very successful, the shelter adopted out 44 dogs into their new furever homes.
The shelter would also like to give a shout out to the Barking Barber for their much appreciated support, as they have done an amazing job grooming some of our dogs that were in desperate need of a trip to the salon.
The shelter will be closed this Friday and Saturday, May 10th & 11th, as they prepare to take part in Lou Adopts. If you haven’t heard about Lou Adopts it’s a huge adoption event where around a dozen shelters and rescues will be set up finding forever homes for their dogs. Last year nearly 120 dogs found their families during this event. Lou Adopts is taking place this Saturday from 12-4 at the Kentucky Fair and Expo Center in Louisville, if you’re looking to add a new dog to your family this is the place to be. Mike and I have been very busy this week, but not too busy to talk about some animals that need a good, loving home. Today we get to meet Rolo and Brody.
Rolo is a 4-year-old grey Weimaraner that weighs around 70 pounds. This sweet boy has excellent manners, knows how to sit, lay, and even catch treats. Rolo has been at the shelter for 6 weeks waiting to find a home where he can share a burger and lay on the couch with you.
And Brody, Brody is a 1-year-old brindle and white heeler/border collie mix that weighs just 25 pounds. This fun-loving fella gets along with other dogs and loves to play. Brody has been waiting to find an adventurous family he can call his own for more than a month now.
Since the program started back in 2017, we have talked about 585 pets and have been able to adopt out 583 of them!
The shelter still has a clear the kennels special going on through this Saturday May 4th where all dogs 5 months and older have had their adoption fees waived and they are still receiving all their normal vet care including their vaccinations, spay or neuter and microchip.

Elizabethtown Community and Technical College President Dr. Juston Pate says when students are forced to stop their academic pursuits at the college it is rarely due to academic reasons.
“It’s really and truly those non-academic life barriers that pose those problems that seem insurmountable, and just prevent continuation toward a better life,” Pate said.
Pate says a survey of students found that 38 percent of them ran out of money six times over the course of the academic year.
“That’s what we are working to overcome, and the talent level of these folks that we’re talking about is immense,” Pate said. “The talent is there. We just have to find ways to focus that talent and channel that talent to something other than survival mode.”
ECTC hopes to eliminate one of the biggest barriers, housing, as they and partner organization Family Scholar House announced Friday the Home for Hope Campaign, a fundraising effort to secure the last $1.5 million needed to construct a $14.8 million 48-unit apartment complex on ECTC’s campus. Beginning in 2025, the complex will provide student partners with housing while they complete their education and build a better life for themselves and their families.
ECTC says Family Scholar house has provided more than 700 students with services the college is not able to provide. Those services support students like Lacy Sallee, a single mother pursuing her associate’s degree in applied science.
“It’s knowing that I have people willing to be there to show me how to work through my issues and to get things done not for me but to teach me how to do it for myself,” Sallee said. “I want to become something that my children can look up to, and I want to have a career doing something I can wake up and look forward to doing every single day.”
Pate says the project will have an impact on ECTC for years to come.
“It’s not just a solution for 48 families,” Pate said. “It’s a solution for 48 families at a time until they get their degree, then we have programs to get them transitioned into stable housing. It’s a long-term, multi-phase, multi-generation, multi-participant program.”

Taste of the Heartland is the annual fall fundraiser held by the Community Health Clinic in Hardin County on August 26, 2023. We are a 21 year old FREE clinic providing health care to the low income, uninsured residents of Central KY. Multiple local restaurants will have a table filled with 1 of their menu items. Guests will get to go to each table they would like to fill their plate for our sit-down dinner.
ALL Proceeds go to the Community Health Clinic.

We have just finished Easter, the most important time for Christians. And as I reflect on the final moments of Jesus on the cross, his final words come to mind. My God my God, why have you forsaken me?We understand that Jesus did not believe that the Father had forsaken him. We also understand that Jesus knew why he was on the cross. Yet these words confuse us.Consider the true nature of Jesus. At all times he is one hundred percent God, but also one hundred percent man. At this moment we see Jesus' full humanity on display. In his pain, in his difficulty, in his agony, he cried out to the father.There are a few lessons we can take away from the final moments on the cross. First, it is okay for us to cry out and question God. Here we see Jesus, the God of the universe who created everything, our Lord and savior expressing his frustration, his confusion, and his struggle to try to understand and make sense of what the Father was doing at this moment in his Humanity.We know that God is good. We know that God works together all things for the good for all those who love Him according to his purpose. But in our Humanity, we still don't understand what God is doing. In our Humanity, we might be confused and frustrated or maybe even angry. But it is in these moments that we must remember that God is inviting us to cast all our cares on him because he loved us.The second thing we can learn is even though we cry out to God, He may never give us an answer to why. Jesus reached out to the Father, "My God my God, why have you forsaken me?" and in response there was silence. There are times in our lives when we cry out to God, "Why are you allowing this to happen to me?" And as we continue to cry out to God, why why why, we must accept the fact that there will be times in our lives when even though we may ask the question why, God may never answer. Ask yourself, if God were to answer your question why, would it make you feel any better? Would it take away the pain?We have to be careful not to confuse silence with absence. Sometimes we assume that because God has not answered our prayers, he must not care about us. Or that he does not hear us. Just because He is silent doesn't mean He is absent from our lives. In reality, God is doing things behind the scenes that you and I have no idea about. There are so many times in my life when I would cry out to God and I didn't understand God's plan but when I look back, I can see all that God was orchestrating behind the scenes.The final lesson we can learn is that Jesus understands our pain. He understands what it's like to be betrayed. He understands what it's like to be denied. He understands what it's like to be humiliated. He understands what it's like to be tempted. He understands all the difficulties and all the pains that you and I are dealing with because he went through them too.The next time you are dealing with difficulties I encourage you to remember that it is okay to cry out to God, to express your heart to God, to give all your pain and burdens, and cast your cares upon Him. But accept the fact that God may not ever explain why He is doing whatever He is doing, and because God may be silent that doesn't mean that He is absent in your life because the Bible says that He will never leave you nor forsake you.

Over the last few years, circumstances have required us to worship in different ways. Many Christians today opt to stay at home in their pajamas and stream their church services while they sit on the couch. And why not? God has created us for community and friendships. The friendships and relationships we create with our church families are a blessing that allows us to do more for God’s Kingdom.“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” Hebrews 10:24-25The enemy has used the last few years to isolate us. Like a predator on the hunt, the easy target is the one separated from the herd. We live in discouraging times, so the more godly relationships we can have to remind us that we are not alone in our faith, the better. We are called to love God, and love people. "Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, 'The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.'" Matthew 9:35-38We are the workers in the field and what we have been called to do is even more important now because the task is not as easy as it once was. But through our relationship with Christ as the Head, we who are His hands and feet can accomplish this vital work. It's time to come together again as a church body, encouraging one another and spreading the Good News. The time is short but the harvest is plentiful.

The City of Elizabethtown is holding several Christmas related events. This Saturday is the annual Christmas Parade, the route starts at St. John Road and travels south on Dixie Highway before ending at the square in Downtown Elizabethtown. The parade begins at 5 pm and will be followed by a reading of the night before Christmas by Mayor Geoff Gregory, as well as carols and the lighting of the Christmas tree. The City of Elizabethtown has approved the sale of a property on College Street. The property is located at 226 College Street, it was sold to H.C. Real Estate USA Inc. The real estate arm of Kruger Incorporated. Kruger intends to build apartment buildings with up to 125 units, a community area and a swimming pool. The prospective apartment will be targeted as workforce residences for the Kruger Packaging Plant located in Elizabethtown, however, the apartments will be available to the public. The property was sold for 750,000 dollars.
The city approved the acquisition of a property on Seminole Drive. The property is located at 302 Seminole Drive, in the Indian Hills area of Elizabethtown. The city intends to turn the approximately 3-acre area into a “pocket park”. The property was purchased for 150 thousand dollars.
Two local students have been named semifinalists in a national scholar’s program. Community Relations Specialist for The Hardin County School System, John Wright stated, “Central Hardin High School students Anna Hinkle and Jacob Jiranek have been named semifinalists for the 2023 Coca-Cola Scholars Program. They will move to the next round of the selection process to possibly become a Coca-Cola Scholar and receive a $20,000 college scholarship.” The Coca-Cola Scholars Program is the largest corporate sponsored, achievement based scholarship in the country. This phase will include submission of essays, a recommendation, and a transcript to be reviewed before 250 regional finalists are announced in January. 150 coke scholars will be announced in March, receiving a 20,000-dollar college scholarship and a Coca-Scholars weekend in Atlanta.
The Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron announced that 12 randomly selected counties in Kentucky will undergo a post-election audit. It includes one local county: Larue County. The audit will be conducted by the Attorney General's Department of Criminal Investigations. The Attorney General stated the purpose of the audit is to protect the integrity of our elections.

Kentucky State Police Post Four is holding a donation event this week. They are holding a Cram the Cruiser event with nonperishable food items to help families all over Kentucky with a holiday meal. It will be held at the Kroger on Dolphin Drive on Friday from 10 am to 4 pm.
The City of Elizabethtown is collecting letters to send to Santa. The form to participate can be printed from the City of Elizabethtown’s website. Once complete, there are two North Pole Mailboxes in the city -- one at Pritchard Community Center and one at the Bluegrass Sportsplex – to drop the letters off at. The cost is 5 dollars and each child will receive a personal letter, a magic key for Santa and a Christmas ornament kit to make. The deadline to submit the letter is December 12th.
A local nonprofit is hosting a donation event this weekend. Give270, will be holding a fast relief day this coming Sunday. Fast relief day is a part of a greater fundraiser occurring next month from December 1st to the 15th, to help combat local food insecurity. They are encouraging people to fast for 1 or 2 meals and donate the money saved to a local charity. A former Kentucky Governor passed away last week. John Y. Brown Junior passed away last Monday at the age of 88. Brown was the 55th Governor of Kentucky and served from 1979 to 1983. A public visitation will be held in the Capitol Rotunda tomorrow from 3 pm to 7 pm. A private memorial will also be held on Wednesday but can be viewed at ket.org.

The Elizabethtown Lions Club has joined a statewide coat drive. Previous President Brian Dennis stated, “ the Elizabethtown Lions Club was contacted by our state leadership. They are having a state-wide coat drive. We are going to collect all the coats we can and take them to a central location in Mount Washington, where they will be taken by truck and delivered to Eastern Kentucky.” There is currently one drop off point at the award center in front of the panther academy in Elizabethtown, however, more drop off points are being located. Larue County and Bullitt County Schools will be closed today. The closing is a result of low attendance due to illness. The school will be closed the rest of the week as the school’s transition to thanksgiving break. The schools return to session Monday November 28th.

David Allen of Allen's Heating and Cooling passed away last Thursday. Allen was 69 and at home at the time of his passing. He was a proprietor of Allen's Heating and Cooling for more than 50 years. His funeral will be held today at 11 am at the St. Ann Catholic Church in Howardstown. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Ann’s Catholic Church.
A longtime local educator and volleyball coach passed away on Friday. Miss Rita Highbaugh was a teacher and longtime head volleyball coach of Central Hardin High School. She also served as a softball coach and was still an assistant coach for volleyball at the time of her passing. Highbaugh was instrumental in the formation of the Central Hardin Volleyball Team at its inception. Her visitation is Tuesday from 3 to 8 pm at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown, and her funeral is Wednesday beginning at 2 pm.

Here's an update on the fatal collision that took place in Elizabethtown Tuesday night. Public information officer for the Elizabethtown Police Department, Chris Denham stated, “The driver killed in the car accident Tuesday night has been identified as, 28 year old, Destiny Shelton.” There are no further details currently.
A local family recently made a large donation to a scholarship fund. Jeff and Mary Key donated 100,000 dollars to the Jeff and Mary Keys Scholarship. The Scholarship is for certain Central Hardin High School Graduates who plan on attending Western Kentucky University. The scholarship is administered by the college heights foundation at WKU and was established by the family in 2017.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is looking for input on the KY 210 improvement project between Hodgenville and Campbellsville. There will be a public information meeting tonight beginning at 5pm lasting until 7pm at 2 locations. At the Taylor County High School and at Hodgenville Elementary School. Both locations will have the same meeting materials. The purpose of the meeting is to obtain input from the public about the KY 210 project.

A fatal collision took place in Elizabethtown last night. Public Information Officer for the Elizabethtown Police Department John Thomas stated, “November 15th, shortly before 11:00 PM, a 2002 Ford Focus, operated by an adult female, was traveling westbound on Ring Road near Kitty Hawk Drive in Elizabethtown when the vehicle crossed into the eastbound lanes of Ring Road. The Ford Focus struck an eastbound 1998 Chevrolet SUV, operated by an adult male, in a head on collision.” The driver of the ford focus was pronounced dead on the scene, the passenger of the ford focus and the driver of the SUV were transported to the University of Louisville Hospital with serious injuries. It is currently unknown why the ford focus crossed over the center-line. The investigation is ongoing.

A fatal car accident occurred in Hardin County over the weekend. Yesterday evening around 436 pm the Hardin County Sheriff's Office responded to a call about a collision in West Point. Sheriff John Ward stated, “We had deputies and our reconstruction team on the scene of a head-on collision on US 31W in West point. A vehicle pursuit took place in Larue County this weekend. On Saturday, a vehicle that was being pursued by the Nelson County Sheriff's Office entered Larue County, where Hodgenville Police Department began assisting in the pursuit. According to the Police Department, the suspects’ vehicle became disabled and stopped near Dangerfield Road. The driver subsequently exited the vehicle and fled on foot before being apprehended and taken into custody. The investigation is ongoing.
A special ceremony is being held this weekend to honor the anniversary of the Gettysburg Address. The ceremony, a memorial building illumination, is taking place this coming Saturday, at the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park in Larue County. This year marks the 159th anniversary of the Gettysburg Address. The event begins at 7 pm and is free and open to the public. When we are pursuing God's purpose for us, there may come times when we will face difficult decisions. These decisions may even present some risk.
Our potential is the sum of all possibilities God has for our lives. We have no way of comprehending all the possibilities that an all-wise, all-knowing, infinite God sees. We can not know with our finite minds and limited perspective all that He knows.
There is a significant amount of risk involved in trusting God in all things. Risk, after all, is a part of the very nature of faith. We put our belief in a God whom we can't see but still experience. And put our faith in His promise to work all things to our benefit (Romans 8:28), even if we can't understand what must occur to get us from where we are to where we hope to be. And put our faith in the love of God to transform us in ways we can't even begin to imagine.
After Jesus had multiplied five loaves and two fish to feed 5,000, He told His disciples to get into a boat and go to the other side of the Sea of Galilee while He went to pray by Himself. And while Jesus was still on the mountain, the boat was being tossed about in the middle of the sea.
Jesus came down and went to them, walking on the sea. (Matthew 14:25). The disciples were afraid but Jesus commanded them to not be afraid. What happened next is perhaps one of the biggest steps of faith in the whole Bible. Peter answered Jesus saying, "Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water," (Matthew 14:28). As Jesus bid Peter to come, Peter stepped out of the boat and walked on the water to go to Jesus. Of all the disciples, only one risked everything to step out in faith and became the only person in the Bible who walked on water. Would you be willing to do the same?
The experience deepened Peter's faith and made him willing to take even greater risks later in his life and ministry. The same could be true for each of us. What we see as a risk may be the very situation God uses to strengthen our faith. That risk could be what God will use to carry us one giant step closer to fulfilling our purpose and reaching our full potential.

A sex offender was arrested in Grayson County over the weekend. The Grayson County Sheriff's Office received information on a non-compliant sex offender late Saturday evening. Sheriff Norman Chaffins stated, “Once we received the tip, we responded to a residence on Tilford Lane In Falls of Rough. Where we encountered Russell Cook, we confirmed he was listed as a sex offender, however, he failed to notify probation and parole and the Kentucky State Police of his address change. There was an active warrant for his arrest and he was arrested without incident.” He is currently being lodged at the Grayson County Detention Center.
City Council approved plans for a community orchard in Elizabethtown. Last night, at the Elizabethtown City Council meeting, the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for a community orchard at the nature park was approved. The MOU approved a space of up to 2.5 acres in the nature park to be used for the orchard. The park should be complete by December of next year.

A man was struck and killed over the weekend. The Hardin County Sheriff's Office received a call, in relation to a man acting erratic in the 900 block of Springfield Road on Saturday night. A deputy arrived on scene, and observed the man jump over the I-65 fence. Hardin County 911 soon received a call of a man struck on the southbound lane of I-65. He was pronounced dead at the scene and the road was shut down for approximately an hour. The investigation is ongoing.

There are over 5 million words in the Greek language, while there are only about 171 thousand in the English language. The Bible was primarily written in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, leading to a lot of nuance being lost in translation.
Take the word "love" for example. I'm sure you know what it means to love and be loved, but there are three Greek words for "love" we will find in the Bible.
The first we find is Philos, the warm affection or friendship. Philos was commonly used when referring to friendships or family relationships. For example, it was used in Matthew 10:37 to indicate love for father and mother or son and daughter. Philos was the word used for Jesus' love for his friend Lazarus (John 11:3,36) and His love for His disciples (John 20:2).
The second Greek word for love is Eros referring to physical or sexual love. This is where we get the word erotic from. While Eros was commonly used in the Greek-speaking world of New Testament times, the word itself is not found in the pages of the New Testament. The concept of physical love, however--expressed in the concept of marriage--is found and affirmed in the New Testament.
Our final word for love found in the Greek language is Agape, the sacrificial, unconditional love of God. Agape love is the highest form of love in the New Testament. Agape is the word that describes God's love in John 3:16. We are commanded to love God (Matthew 22:37) and love one another (John 13:34) with agape love.
To say agape love is the highest form of love is not to diminish the other kinds of love. All genuine love comes from God because God is love and is where we build our foundation. A healthy marriage will express all thee forms of love.
There is another Greek word I would like to talk about, Timios meaning great price, precious, held in honor, esteemed, and especially dear. Timios is used to describe the "precious" redeeming blood of Christ in 1 Peter 1:18-19. Timios is used again to describe the "precious" promise of God. There is another place we see the use of Timios, Hebrews 13:4, "Marrige is to be held in TIMIOS among all…"
The same word that is used to describe the precious blood of Christ and the promise of God is also used to describe marriage. When we look at our spouse, we should see the beautiful creation that God holds dear, and express our love for His creation in all forms, Philos, Eros, and Agape.

A fire occurred at an Elizabethtown hotel this morning. Spokesperson for the City of Elizabethtown, Amy Inman stated, “The Elizabethtown Fire Department responded to a call around 4:30 am, to the Days Inn located on North Mulberry. The preliminary report indicates, the fire was in a void space between several rooms and the fire and the fire spread damaging a section of the hotel. One person has been transferred to the hospital.” The fire is out, and the building has been evacuated. Hardin county ems is currently on scene. The investigation is ongoing.
The person who was killed in the car accident on Monday night has been identified. Public Information Officer for the Elizabethtown Police Department, Chris Denham stated, “The driver killed in the Monday evening collision that occurred in the 900 block of North Mulberry street has been identified as 77 year old, Ronald Hawkins. Our most sincere thoughts and prayers go out to his family.” There are no further details currently.
A construction career field is being held today in Elizabethtown. Barton Malow and Gray Construction is hosting the fair. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with contractors working with the Blue Oval SK Battery Park Project in Glendale. The event will be held at the Pritchard Community Center and begins at 8 am and lasts until 6 pm.

The Hodgenville Police Department will be holding active shooter training next week. Chief of the Hodgenville Police Department, James Richardson stated,”We are running that active shooter training, from start to finish, as if it were a real-world event. So, the police department will respond, take care of the threat, and secure the scene. EMS will then take over, triage patients, get folks taken care of, get them where they need to be. Then the school will take over, and do their portion of reunification and notifying parents.” The training will be held at Larue County High School next Wednesday, November 7th, beginning at 8 am. There will be multiple agencies participating in the event. Richardson continued, “Basically, all the agencies that would come to bear, if there were an active shooter or something of that nature on school property. So, we will have the fire department, EMS, and police departments, we are going to have all kinds of folks from around the area, and resources from outside the county. A fatal collision occurred in Elizabethtown last night. Public Information Officer for the Elizabethtown Police Department, Chris Denham stated, “At around 8:30 Monday evening we were called to the 900 block of North Mulberry Street, in reference to a serious motor vehicle collision. A preliminary investigation indicates, a Hyundai passenger car being operated by an adult male, was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of North Mulberry when it crossed into the path of an eastbound Toyota SUV being operated by an adult female.” The operator of the Hyundai was pronounced dead on the scene. The operator of the Toyota SUV was transported from the scene by Hardin County EMS with minor injuries. The investigation is currently ongoing and being handled by the Elizabethtown Police Departments Collision Reconstruction Team.
Hosparus of Central Kentucky is holding a remembrance service this week. The service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Elizabethtown on Sunday. They have a keepsake ornament event at 215 pm followed by the service at 3 pm. The purpose of it is to honor and celebrate community members lost this past year.

Baptist Health Hardin has selected a new president. Robert Ramey has been selected and his first day of the job will be January 1st of next year. He is currently president at Baptist Health Madisonville and has been since 2015. Has been with the Baptist Health System for over 25 years. He is replacing 52-year-old Dennis Johnson who left to take over a North Carolina hospital.
The movie palace in Elizabethtown is closing for good. They will close their doors for the last time this Sunday November the sixth, according to the theater. There are no further details currently.
A fatal collision took place last week in Meade County. Last Thursday, Kentucky State Police responded to a two-vehicle fatal collision on Kentucky 79 near Kentucky 313 in Brandenburg. Preliminary investigation indicates, a vehicle operated by 39-year-old Kristin Sowder of Brandenburg was traveling south on Kentucky 79, when for unknown reasons Sowder’s vehicle crossed the centerline into the path of a vehicle operated by 49-year-old Robert Stidham of Mauckport, Indiana. Sowder’s vehicle left the roadway and overturned, she was pronounced dead on the scene. A 4-year-old passenger was transported to Kosair Children's Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The investigation remains ongoing.

As Christians, we are called to carry on Christ's work of reconciliation in the world. So what does it mean to be reconciled?
To be reconciled means to be reunited with someone from whom one has been alienated. Forgiveness can lead to restored fellowship. Sin leads to alienation from God, but through Christ, we can be forgiven and reconciled to God.
2 Corinthians 5:18-20 says “All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal though us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.”
Sometimes it isn't easy to do the right thing, to be reconciled, or to reconcile with others. We may even be persecuted for it. Matthew 10:20 says "God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the kingdom of Heaven is theirs. Remember God sometimes uses momentary failure for success in His time.

If I give away all I have, and deliver up my body as a martyr, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient and kind; love does not hold a grudge or indulge in self praise; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things ,endures all things.” 1st Corinthians 13:1-7.

God’s redeeming grace uplifts us, frees us, and strengthens us. It awakens us to the greatest reality of our lives—God’s redeeming love and the spiritual connection we have with God and others being made in his image.

The Lincoln Trail Elementary School Holiday Bazaar will be held soon. Family resource coordinator Jennifer Williams stated, “We are going to have lots of handmade items, some unique items with wood working, as well as some things like Scentsy, Avon , basic baker, whippet, holiday spirit wear, and we are also going to have Christmas backdrops with some people that are used to taking photos. They do some photography on the side; they are going to be here to get a jumpstart on family Christmas cards.” It will be held next Saturday, November fifth from 8 am to 3 pm at the elementary school in Elizabethtown. All the money that is generated from the event will be used to support the boys and girls’ groups from the school that are sponsored by the resource center. The Boos and Brews Karaoke Halloween party will be held tonight on Fort Knox. Fort Knox Garrison Commander, Colonel Lance O’Bryan stated, “Head over to Sam Adams brew house for the boos and brews karaoke Halloween party. Grab you a burger, grab you a brew, dress up. There will be a costume contest that starts at ten. Even more fun than that will be singing your favorite Halloween themed tunes.” The event will be held from 7 pm to midnight. Casa of the heartland is unveiling a mural next week. The mural will be unveiled next Thursday, November third, at the casa of the heartland building in Elizabethtown from 8 to 11 am. Executive director Norma Hatfield stated, “We got a grant through the fort Knox spouses community club, which allowed us to do this. We are so excited that folks are going to see a little more about the kiddos that we serve, since we can’t show their faces. For me, what i like to think about is that, whenever anyone walks in or out of the office, it serves as a reminder that these kids leave an imprint on our hearts and minds.” The mural consists of hand prints of local children served by the organization. Casa purpose with this is, to help raise awareness of child abuse and neglect in Hardin County.
The Sportsplex Spooktacular is this weekend. It will be held tomorrow from 2 to 5 pm at the Sportsplex in Elizabethtown. General Manager of the Bluegrass Sportsplex, Dustin Shepherd stated, “This is going to be a wonderful, free family and community event. We will have games, inflatables and yes, a ton of candy. We will also have concessions and Dewsters homemade ice cream, available for purchase during the event. The Elizabethtown High School Volleyball Team is advancing to the State Tournament. Elizabethtown volleyball coach Bart Catlett stated, “I think we are trending upward and I hope we have a little bit more in the tank, because we are going to need it. I’d like to think we are getting better in the end. We play a very tough schedule and we hope that parlays into the rest of the season for us.” Last night, they beat Central Hardin High School three to one to move on. Fontainium is made up of a group of middle school friends with over musical experience together. Members are part of the Elizabethtown High school alumni and graduating class of 2014. Fontainum recently performed at the “Okay Fest” in brandenburg kentucky. They were also the 1at place winners of River Festivus Battle of the Bands in Burkesville and opened for Exile, the writer/performers of the 1978 hit “Kiss You All Over.”

The Elizabethtown Police Foundation received a donation on Tuesday. Public Relations Officer for the Elizabethtown Police Department, Chris Denham stated, “Our police foundation received a very generous, 20,000 dollar donation from the Schaffrick family yesterday. Their family continues to be one of our biggest supporters and we are beyond grateful. This donation will be used to procure a state of the art driving simulator for the department.” The driving simulator will be the first of its kind in this region. The Elizabethtown Girls Soccer Team is headed to the State Championship. Yesterday the team beat West Jessamine four to one in the Final Four to advance. Coach Rob Zoller stated, “With soccer it’s all one class, there’s no classes like football or anything like that. So, if we win this game we are essentially the best team in Kentucky.” The game will be held at 4 pm on Saturday in Lexington at Frederick Douglas High School. The Panthers Soccer Team will be facing off with South Oldham High School. Zoller continued, “Panther nation showed up in force. An open house public meeting to look at future traffic demands and highway needs in southern Hardin County is coming up. It will be held next Thursday at the old East Hardin Middle School in Glendale from 5 to 7 pm. The meeting is intended to address the uptick in traffic in the area as a result of the construction of the Blue Oval SK Plant. The plant is expected to be completed by early 2025. The Elizabethtown Girls Soccer team is playing in the final four of the state tournament today. Coach Rob Zoller stated, “About four o’clock today, hopefully half of Etown is in Lexington because we are playing in the state final four against West Jessamine “. A fatal single vehicle car accident occurred in Grayson County on Sunday. Around 8pm Grayson County dispatch received a call of a single vehicle crash. A deputy arrived and discovered forty-three-year-old Nicholas Mudd of Caneyville underneath the vehicle. Sheriff Norman Chaffins stated, “It appears from the evidence on the roadway and the damage to the vehicle, that the vehicle was southbound on Shrewsbury Road. When, for unknown reasons it kind of left the roadway on the right side of the road, the occupant over corrected and when he did, he lost control of the vehicle and started skidding across both lanes of the highway, struck a utility pole and the driver was ejected. He was pronounced dead on the scene by the Grayson County Coroner's Office.” He was not wearing a seat belt and speed appeared to be a factor. The investigation is ongoing.

Proceeds of the annual Eric and Joe Show will go to a Kentucky-Based nonprofit. The Eric and Joe Show is an annual holiday variety show hosted by Give-270 as a fundraiser to raise money for various nonprofit organizations. It was announced yesterday that, this year the funds have been designated to go to therapeutic living foster care and adoption program which provides residential and community based behavioral health services, therapeutic foster care and adoption services, supportive services for homeless young adults, and long-term care for medically complex or terminally ill children. A community orchard may be coming to Elizabethtown. Last night, at the Elizabethtown City Council Meeting, the idea of a community orchard at the nature park was discussed. The Central Kentucky Community Foundation is looking to partner with the City of Elizabethtown to make it happen. CEO of the Central Kentucky Community Foundation Davette Swiney stated, “The idea to look at public spaces that might be a good fit for that and of course the nature park being the obvious place that, that would really tie in and give a focal point and a reason to drive people to the nature park from a tourism and community development standpoint. A collective area that would look at community life, volunteer opportunities, places for families to come together and do something they may not have the space to do.” DOW Chemical has pledged a grant of 200,000 dollars to support this initiative should it be decided upon. The meeting was a work session and no decisions have been made at this time.
Warm blessings community kitchen announced a new capital campaign project. Executive Director Dawn Cash stated, “We have plans to build a new headquarters, where we will have our offices and all of our existing services with some expansions in those services, as well as, eight units of transitional housing.” The announcement was made at the first ever warm blessing fundraising gala last Saturday. Cash continued, “The most exciting news is that we have our very first community partner onboard. Operation round-up has met with us several times and they have made their announcement that they are the first contributors to our capital campaign for 100,000 dollars.” Operation round-up is a nonprofit that awards community impact grants to local organizations by Nolin RECC members who volunteer to round-up their bill to the nearest dollar each month.
A semi oil tanker flipped over in Larue County yesterday. Larue County Sheriff Russell McCoy stated, “We received a call of a possible injury accident on Highway 61 between Buffalo and Mount Sherman area. Upon arrival we discovered a tanker truck trailer had run off the side of the roadway and flipped upside down in a ditch and actually the tractor became dislodged from the trailer.” The tanker was carrying about 5500 gallons of oil that is used in laying black top. The wreck caused some of the oil to spill out onto the surrounding area. A hazmat situation was declared causing the roadway to be completely shut down and traffic diverted during the cleanup process. The driver was not injured and there were no other injuries reported.
Hardin county emergency services department has a message about burning today. Chief of the emergency services Bryce Shumate stated, “There is an extreme danger of fires getting out today, so, we are asking people to please not burn anything outside today. Wind is going to be brisk all day, as you know, with field fires and the wind gusting like that it will cause it to spread very quickly.” There will be wind gusts of up to forty-five miles an hour. Bridge work began in Larue County over the weekend. The bridge work is taking place on Kentucky 222 on the bridge that crosses the Nolin River. Public Relations Officer for Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Fourth District Chris Jessie stated, “Closing down one lane for a bridge deck reconstruction, is the common way we handle traffic. Contractors could get the work done more quickly if we closed the road but, in most of these cases detours do not allow for commercial vehicles or heavier trucks, those kinds of things. So, we have to maintain the one-lane of traffic.” Delays will be possible during peak traffic hours. Multiple trailers were stolen in Larue County over the weekend. According to the Larue County Sheriff's Office, the description of the vehicle used in the thefts was a white older model, four door, diesel truck. A free overdose prevention and NARCAN training class is being offered today. The Lincoln Trail District Health Department in partnership with the Kentucky Department for Public Health and Kentucky Pharmacists Association will be offering free NARCAN and training at the Walmart in Elizabethtown. It will be held from noon to six pm and is for anyone eighteen and older. They will also be offering free Hepatitis C and HIV testing on site. The FBI concluded its search at a farm in Bardstown on Friday. The search came as a part of the larger investigation into the disappearance of Crystal Rogers that took place in 2015. Central Hardin High School Drama Club is putting on a musical production of Wizard of Oz this weekend. Director Sarah Dakin stated, “We have public performances Friday at 7pm and Saturday at 4pm. Public information officer Chris Denham stated, “In partnership with Central Valley Feed the Homeless, we are hosting a food drive in support of their efforts. As part of their mission, Central Valley Feed the Homeless facilitates a safe return for displaced individuals back to their region of origin. They also provide individuals with nonperishable food items to sustain them during their travels. The last day to request an absentee mail in ballot is coming up next week. Hardin county clerk Debbie Donnelly stated, “the mailed excused that you apply for online ends October the 25th, that is next Tuesday at 11:59 PM.” Following the mail in deadline, traditional absentee voting registration will begin. Donnelly continued, “The 26th will start the in-house excused absentee ballot, and what you will do is come to the clerk’s office from 7:45 AM until 4:30 PM and that is excused like the mail in ballots are. An Elizabethtown High School Student was hit by a car yesterday. The student was crossing US-62 when they were struck by the car, according to the Elizabethtown Independent School District. The student was transported to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The school wants to remind the public to abide by school zone speeds and watch for students.
A Larue County man was arrested for murder yesterday. Thirty-six-year-old Joshua Woolford was arrested for the murder of his wife. In June of 2019, Kentucky State Police responded to a house fire, identifying a deceased, Chasidy Woolford in the residence. He is currently being lodged at the Larue County Detention Center.

A fatal crash occurred in Meade County on Monday. Kentucky State Police responded to a two-vehicle collision Monday evening. The preliminary investigation revealed that, a vehicle operated by thirty-five-year-old Saffire Doss of Louisville was traveling north on Dixie Highway when she crossed over the center line and struck a vehicle operated by sixty-four-year-old Dianna McMahan of falls of rough. Doss was pronounced dead on the scene by the Meade County coroner. The investigation is ongoing.

The Rider building was recently sold and is now being renovated. The building, located in downtown Elizabethtown, is being turned into an upscale residence, restaurant bar, and lounge. The first floor will feature the restaurant bar and lounge with commercial space and outdoor seating. The second floor is being used as residential units with five one room suites and a two-room efficiency residence. There are sixteen on-site parking spaces and public parking directly across the street.
There was an officer involved shooting this past weekend in Nelson County. On Friday, the nelson county sheriff's office was dispatched to a residence in Bardstown. After their arrival, a male subject opened fire upon deputies. A deputy was shot and was brought to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The subject is in custody. Following the incident, Kentucky State Police was called in by the sheriff's office to investigate and is currently handling the active investigation.

The state’s first Narcan vending machine has come to the area. Chief of Police of the Vine Grove Police Department Kenneth Mattingly stated, “The machine is located here at the Vine Grove Police Department. Basically, the machine holds about 90 two dose boxes of Narcan. So, anyone who needs Narcan or preparing for someone who might be in crisis or has an addiction issue, they can come and get a dose and keep it in their house, keep it in their bathroom and that way if they need it, it will be available to them. The sale of the old courthouse building in Downtown Elizabethtown has been approved. Weyland Ventures is purchasing the property for six hundred and ninety thousand with plans to turn it into a boutique hotel with a restaurant and bar located inside. Partner in the Elizabethtown Renaissance Associates, Ben Larue stated, “the county attorney’s space needs to be fixed first, so she’ll be moving out, probably in December or so and we will start renovations sometime next year.” The renovations are estimated to cost 8 million dollars and are expected to take a year.

Mike is out again this week because he is hosting the Kentucky Animal Care and Control Association's yearly training. Mike is the Vice President of the organization. Each year they hold training with classes for both officers and shelter staff.
This week we will meet Elanore, a 1 year old white and brown shepherd mix that weighs just 33 pounds. She is sweet and shy with a love for squeaky toys. Elanore has only been at the shelter a couple weeks but is looking forward to finding her new forever family.
And Striker, a 3 month old solid black kitten. He isn’t sure what he loves more play time or chasing you down for cuddles. Striker has been in the shelters care since he was just a few weeks old and is ready for his new home.
Last weekend’s adoption special saw 40 pets go to their new homes in just 2 days!

What does the phrase, 'there is power in the cross,' mean to you?
Let's take a look in the Bible…In Luke 9:23 Jesus says, "If any of you want to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me…" The cross is a powerful daily reminder of how we should lives, putting others first and ourselves last.
In first Corinthians 1:18, Paul said, "The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God." The cross separates God's followers from those who don't yet know Him. If you don't know God, the cross may seem foolish. But for people who know God, when we think of the cross, and look upon it, picturing Jesus hanging on it, and remember the crucifixion, we feel thankful and comforted because we know we are God's children.
The message of the cross draws a line between the people who know God and the people who need to.
In Colossians 2:13-14 Paul wrote, "You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross."
Hebrews 12:2, "Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame." Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne."
And back in Luke 9:26, Jesus says, "If anyone is ashamed of me and my message, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he returns in his glory and in the glory of the Father and the holy angels."
The cross is a simple upright post with a transverse bar and was used to crucify Jesus Christ. It's a symbol of death, but also so much more. Death and life, hate and love, violence and peace, accusation and forgiveness, sin and purity, brokenness and wholeness, all is lost yet everything is gained, destruction and restoration, defeat and victory. Once the cruelest form of execution, yet now a symbol of abundant life.
When we say there is power in the cross, we're not talking about the cross at all. We're talking about the power of Jesus who loved us and gave us our forgiveness at the cross.
The phrase, 'there is power in the cross,' is just another way for us to describe and picture the powerful love of our God.

This week we will meet Millie, a 6 year old brown and white pit mix. She is calm, loves people and gets along with other dogs. Millie has a lot of love to give and has been at the shelter waiting on her forever for the past 6 weeks.
And Ivory, a 2 and half year old neutered male with short white hair and black patches on his face. He is calm and a little shy but is good with other cats. Ivory has been at the shelter for 6 weeks and is hoping to find a new family that will let him play with his favorite toy, crushed ice.
The shelter has once again partnering with Best Friends Animal Society for their National Adoption Weekend and will be offering FREE ADOPTIONS this Friday September 16th and Saturday September 17th ONLY. This special will apply to all of their adoptable pets, which are still receiving all their normal vetting including their spay or neuter.

Everywhere we turn we are constantly bombarded with images, advertisements, and videos of who we should be, how we should look, and what we should be doing. In our over socialize, photoshopped world, we are constantly comparing ourselves to unrealistic expectations.
In Galatians 6:4 we read “Let each one examine his own work. Then he can take pride in himself and not compare himself with someone else.”
“God has made us what we are. In Christ Jesus, God made us new people so that we would spend our lives doing the good things he had already planned for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10.
Instead of chasing unrealistic expectations, we should chase the one who made us who we are.

Some days I feel like I am at the end of my rope. It seems that every decision I make is the wrong one. I feel like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place…can you relate?
Through my struggles, I'm reminded of how Job was tormented by Satin. But Satin couldn't do anything to Job without God's permission. And God doesn't permit the enemy to do anything to us unless it is for our good and His glory. God is perfect and all-knowing. He knows what we need, even before we ask for it. If God is telling you no to removing a trial, tribulation, or 'thorn in the flesh,' it's because He is using it for something good. God knows the end from the beginning and only has our best in mind.
Take your burdens and give them to God. They are God's burdens now.
"Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light." Matthew 11:28-30.
I like the way the Message translation puts it…
"I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly."
I hope these words comfort you if you are going through a tough time or trial. Times are tough, and I understand. So does God. Trust in Him. God knows what he is doing."Be still and know that I am God" Psalm 64:10. Do not be afraid or discouraged… For the battle is not our, but God's. (2 Chronicles 20:16).

We will meet Sasha, a 2 year old red Vizsla that weighs in at 62 pounds. This sweet girl loves people and gets along well with dogs but would do best in a home away from livestock. Sasha is one the longest residents having been here since the middle of December. She is scared in the shelter and is eager to find her new forever home. And Patty, a 2 year old spayed female with short brown tiger striped fur. She is quite the talker and loves to get lots and lots of attention. Patty has only been with us about a week but is looking forward to a new family to call her own.

What does Easter mean to you? Is it just another Government holiday? A day off work? Or maybe a money grab for candy companies? To Christians, Easter is the most important time. More important than even Christmas! Yes, Christmas is important but it doesn't save us from our sins.
Jesus' birth only appears in two of the gospels, his ascension, in another two and Acts. But do you know what is mentioned in every single gospel? Not Jesus’ birth, not even Jesus’ teachings, but Jesus’ death and resurrection.
Easter is so important because our Christianity revolves around the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Without that resurrection, Christianity would be meaningless because our sins would not be forgiven by the sacrifice of Christ. If it wasn’t for Easter we would have to continue living like the Jews of the old testament, offering up animal sacrifices to the Lord for our sins.
Easter is just as important today as it was nearly 2000 years ago because it represents how Jesus saved us from our sins by dying and rising again after three days. Conquering death so that we may live for eternity with our Heavenly Father. For all of humanity, not just the Jews, but also the Gentiles that their sins may be redeemed if they believe in Him.
So let's celebrate Easter like it's the most important time of the year. Because it is. What it represents is life. It is the center of our faith.

When the original Sonic the Hedgehog movie came out, I had low expectations. My 10-year-old son watched it in theaters, and I was pleasantly surprised how good it was. It offered a fair number of laughs and plenty of nostalgia. We went as a family to watch Sonic The Hedgehog 2 this last week. It doesn’t hold up quite as well as the first with Jim Carry over acting as usual and a weaker story line. It was however still enjoyable for the kids. I give Sonic the Hedgehog 2, 2.5 gold rings out of 5.

Our actions should characterize a Christ-centered life and stems from a relationship with Jesus. It bears witness to Christ and carries on His work wherever we are, in all we say and do. It is through these actions that we share God's grace.
"What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, "Go in peace; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead." James 2:14-17
Let's look at the parable of the Good Samaritan in Luke chapter 10.
"A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell into the hands of robbers, who stripped him, beat him up, and went off, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a priest was going down that road, but when he saw the injured man, he passes by on the other side. So too a Levite, when he came up to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan who was traveling came to where the injured man was, and when he saw him, he felt compassion for him. He went up to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them. Then he put him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. The next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, 'Take care of him, and whatever else you spend, I will repay you when I come back this way.' Which of these three do you think became a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of the robbers?"
Matthew 22:37-39, Jesus tells us, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'"
The priests were the religious leaders of the time, while the Levites were the teachers, judges, and caretakers of the temple. The Samaritans, on the other hand, were like you and me. Notice how Jesus says the Samaritan felt compassion. He didn't only care for the man's wounds but went above and beyond by giving the man a ride on his animal, likely meaning the Samaritan had to walk. He then puts the man in an inn and pays for his care. Some even say the two silver coins were all the money the Samaritan had. The good Samaritan is the perfect example of what Christian Action looks like, bearing the witness of Christ.

Often I find it hard to rest, feeling like there are always things to be done. Even on vacation, I find myself filling every spare minute with activity. Can you relate? Overworking ourselves by working too hard, too much, or too long can have negative physical and mental effects. Even the creator of our universe took time to rest. Who are we to think we can do more than God?
God values rest so much he made it a commandment, "Remember the Sabbath day to set it apart as holy." Exodus 20:8. The Sabbath for the Jewish people is an observance and abstinence from work that lasts from Friday at sundown to Saturday at sundown. It extends to your whole family, workers, and even animals. God even commanded the land to rest in the seventh year. Exodus 23:11.
In preparation for the Sabbath, Jewish people will do all their shopping chores and cooking before sundown on Friday. This way, they don't even need to cook on the Sabbath!
A day of rest allows time to recover, reduce stress and build deeper relationships with our loved ones. I'm not suggesting that you follow Jewish law; however, clearly, God intended us to rest and reflect at least one day a week. It doesn't even need to be Saturday or Sunday.
Many of us have a couple of days off from work each week. It could be as simple as setting aside a day off to rest and spend time with family. Plan ahead, pre-cook your meals, and let the dishes go for a day. I promise they will be there the next day! Turn off your phone and the TV and spend quality time with your loved ones. Play games, read a book, tell stories, and spend time with the Lord in prayer. We will feel refreshed and renewed for the week ahead.
God knew what he was doing. He didn't need to rest. He was setting the example of how we should spend our Sabbath. Set apart a day for rest and honor the Lord.

Rejection can hurt deeply; however, one rejection is not a projection of future failures. We shouldn't ignore the pain of rejection, but we also can't allow rejection to be a permanent hindrance. We must choose to move past our source of rejection without allowing it to shout us down.
That rejection has already stolen enough from your present, don't let it affect your future too.
No, that book proposal wasn't a good fit for that publisher. But that doesn't mean you can't write. You don't have to go with that publisher, or any publisher, to be an effective writer.
No, that friend didn't stay in your life. But that doesn't mean that you aren't loved or capable of meaningful relationships.
No, you didn't get that job opportunity. But that doesn't mean there won't be other interested companies.
God always has our best interests in mind. Failure, rejection, and unanswered prayers simply mean God has bigger, better plans in store.
So replace those negative thoughts that are hindering you. Replace them with praise for God, who loves you, provides, and will deliver you.

Since 2016, brothers Zachary and Dylan Zmed along with their partner and drummer Burleigh Drummond, have celebrated the pivotal music and history of The Everly Brothers legacy with enthusiastic crowds all across the US and over seas in prestigious venues. They say, “ The music of the 50's and 60's is nostalgic for us, our parents raised us all on it, and we feel that Don and Phil's contribution is greatly overlooked, especially by younger generations. Our aim is not to impersonate but to do our best at honoring both the aesthetics of their iconic sound and the important role they played in pioneering the rock n' roll movement, all while having a little fun sharing our own personal story,” and they do just that.

We still have animals looking for new homes. This week meet Armani and Corporal.
Armani is a 1-year-old lab mix with black and white fur that weighs in at 59 pounds. He has a puppy like personality and is just an active and silly fella. Armani is semi house broken he just needs a home that can get him into a routine. He has been at the shelter waiting to find his forever home since mid- December.
And Corporal is a 2-year-old male chocolate and tan Australian Cattledog that weighs 31 pounds. He is good with other dogs, loves people and enjoys playtime in the yard. Corporal has been at the shelter waiting to meet his new family since early January.
