With so many internship and job application processes being completely virtual and submitted through an online platform, it might seem like the need for a cover letter has gone away. When the pandemic hit in 2020, it sped up the changes in the ways we work and interact. Two years in, virtual interviews are here to stay. There are a lot of benefits to interviewing virtually, and there are some drawbacks. However, it's highly probable that your next interview will be done online. In today's episode we hear from Jacob Hershberger, a campus recruiter with Key Bank, and Mitch Radakovich, a product supply data scientist with Proctor and Gamble. Today, we’re asking the question “Does the decision to study abroad impact your career preparation?” Spoiler alert: it does! By its very nature, studying abroad will expand your awareness and understanding of different cultures and different societies, helping you learn to bridge differences, and embrace diversity. But cultural skills and competencies are not the only competencies you can expect to develop. When you factor in the ways you prepare for your trip, the communication and travel plans you’ll need to make, and learning to get around in a new city, you’ll gain confidence in your ability to navigate through new experiences.

Every job search comes with some challenges, and the pandemic has only presented additional challenges for job seekers. As the nation moves forward through COVID-19, many businesses have found that they appreciate the flexibility of having a remote workforce, and plan to maintain this work arrangement in some capacity moving forward. I spoke with two professionals who work and recruit in the virtual space to get some tips for staying on task, and connecting with your co-workers.

COVID19 has quickly changed how students need to find jobs. Some tactics aren’t changing (making regular use of resources like Handshake and LinkedIn), but new tactics will be needed.
