It’s a new week, (almost) a new month, and we have plenty of new stories to discuss. Chappell Roan continues to face backlash over her election remarks (02:24-10:26) and Tia and Tamera Mowry are clarifying that they didn’t actually have a falling out (10:26-15:36). Sabrina Carpenter has officially kicked off the Short n’ Sweet tour (15:36-22:14) and Audrey already has all concert content blocked from her algorithms. As The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives continues to dominate headlines — Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota have allegedly split (22:14-28:18) and Whitney Leavitt had a bizarre interview on The Squeeze with Tay and Taylor Lautner (28:18-36:42). Finally, Survivor S47 has blessed us with another incredible episode (36:42-57:57).
It's only one day into fall and we’re already stuffed from the amount of content we were fed last week. Between The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, Survivor, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, The Golden Bachelorette, and Dancing with the Stars, our screen time is skyrocketing. We couldn’t allow this recording to be 17 hours long, so we spent this week’s episode breaking down the premieres of RHOSLC (04:03-30:51), Survivor (31:19-1:07:36), and Dancing with the Stars (1:07:56-1:12:47). TL;DR - it’s time to get your streaming subscriptions in order.
The 40th MTV Video Music Awards brought us enough content to cover an entire episode. We cover the top moments from the night — everything from performances to fashion to the summer song we think deserved better (starts at 09:56).
After two weeks off (which felt like a lifetime) we’re back to business. We discuss the oddly hilarious fake breakup contract for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce (06:04-15:33), Kylie Jenner and Jordyn Woods relaunching their friendship five years after their infamous fallout (15:33-24:49), and Audrey’s new favorite show, “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” (24:49-33:25).
August has been too good to us. On this week’s episode, we discuss Sabrina Carpenter’s new album, “Short n’ Sweet” (02:00-24:25) and Chappell Roan setting boundaries with her fans (24:34-44:42). Justin and Hailey Bieber welcomed a baby boy, so we had no choice but to discuss the devastation this brought to all the Plum Bieber stans (44:42-50:03). Finally, we recap the Love Island USA S6 Reunion, from Kendall and Nicole to the fire pit footage (50:03-1:06:24).
It was a week in pop culture that just kept on giving, so we had to bring our very own media correspondent, Brenden Hand, onto the pod! As a chronically online individual, Brenden dives into his passion for Addison Rae’s “Diet Pepsi” single/video (04:05-07:15), but then we cut the shit and really get down to business. The Paris Olympics have wrapped and we had no choice but to discuss the viral Australian breakdancer, Raygun (7:15-17:55). Somehow, even more drama has continued to unfold with the “It Ends With Us” story (20:422-33:12). And finally, we make predictions and pleas for what we’ll see in tonight’s Love Island USA S6 reunion (33:12-55:16).
In a true cinema special, we cover the “It Ends With Us” cast drama and Audrey delivers one of the hottest takes about Ryan Reynolds (02:23-25:40).
Emily recaps her 4DX experience seeing “Deadpool & Wolverine” in a Times Square theater where she fought for her life for a full 127 minutes (25:40-39:14).
Between the Olympic Village and the Love Island Villa, this summer continues to deliver high quality content. We cover the Simone Biles/MyKayla Skinner feud (07:07-15:39) and discuss some Love Island USA reunion foreshadowing (15:39-25:03). Emily made the mistake of seeing Longlegs in the theater (25:03-28:52), and an innocent talk about Robert Downey Jr. returning to Marvel leads to Audrey doing a beautiful TedTalk on comic book breakdowns because Emily can’t understand the difference between Avengers/Deadpool, Marvel/DC, etc. (28:52-41:19). While we may not have a Love Island cast member on this week's episode, there’s still much to be discussed. The Olympics gave us an Opening Ceremony to remember (00:38-12:52) and the aftermath of the Love Island finale continues to unravel (12:52-21:48). We reminisce on what an out of body experience it was to have Love Island’s Connor Newsum on the pod (21:48-31:52) and Audrey recaps the cinematic masterpiece that is Twister (31:52-37:40).

While there still hasn’t been a story that’s topped Demi vs. Froyo, pop culture really pulled through this week and gave us some amazing content to unpack.
First up: Olivia Rodrigo has done it again (do you get deja vu reading that? Ha ha no but for real, we’ve definitely said that before). “Good 4 U” served all the nostalgic punk rock Paramore vibes we didn’t know we were craving and we’re beyond ready for her album to drop this week (16:06-26:39).
Next: to nobody’s surprise, it was announced last week that season 19 of The Ellen DeGeneres Show will be the last. Ellen’s really out here trying to act like it’s ending because she’s “not being challenged enough,” and not at all because of the steep decline in ratings and toxic work environment. Regardless, we talk about how we still have a soft spot in our hearts for Ellen (26:47-37:59).
Finally: Kaitlyn Bristowe and Jason Tartick are engaged and, to be fully transparent, we mostly just talk about the ring AKA rock AKA absolute boulder. The proposal was 10/10 and we unpack why Kaitlyn and Jason are such a great Bachelor nation couple (38:00-47:38). Let’s discuss!

First up: Bill and Melinda Gates have announced their divorce after 27 years of marriage. We thought this segment would just be a basic recap, until Audrey dove into Bill Gates’ 30+ year arrangement to take annual trips with his ex-girlfriend? And we can’t forget the fact that Melinda Gates is currently renting a $132,000/night private island to avoid the media (18:36-30:32).
Next and finally: is anyone else still feeling haunted by the clip of Ben Affleck saying, “it’s me”? We unpack the videos of him and Matthew Perry talking to young women from Raya and give our thoughts on big age gaps in relationships (30:38-47:41). Let’s discuss!

We’re down for the show, but we’re unfortunately not down to pay for yet another streaming service (we’re looking at you, Paramount Plus). In a tiny slice of good news this week, it was announced that Emmanuel Acho, host of "Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man," will be replacing Chris Harrison to host this season's "After the Final Rose." A good decision by ABC? Groundbreaking (13:42-28:00).
Finally, we chat about Twitter absolutely coming for John Mayer after he told Andy Cohen that he almost cried five times while watching "Framing Britney Spears." The first week of 2021 brought enough tea for us to sip on for a lifetime. First, we had the Kim and Kanye divorce bombshell, somehow then combined with rumors that Kanye and Jeffree Star were having an affair??? (10:28-21:35)
The Bachelor made a comeback with Matt James’ debut and it wasn’t as bad as we thought it’d be, but we did have some thoughts on the prayer he initiated and Heather M joining the show soon (21:39-40:12).
Finally, we cover our favorite show of the year (even if we’re only 11 days in), which is Netflix’s “Bridgerton.” This show gave us everything we needed and we have much to discuss. Also, it should be illegal for anyone to be as attractive as the Duke of Hastings (40:16-1:06:33).
