The Final Four is set and it's all chalk! All four 1 seeds meet in San Antonio all with great opportunities to cut down the nets. Timmy and CB begin the pod with an update on who is transferring out of Ohio State with Aaron Bradshaw and Meechie Johnson putting their names in the portal and set the table for the Final Four in San Antonio. Then at the 11:05 mark, Timmy and Rhymetime get into the coaches' portal madness with Kevin Willard dumping on Maryland to head to Villanova and then react to Buzz Williams taking the job in College Park. At 24:00, CB gets back in the booth with Rhymetime to talk about some of the moves in the transfer portal and targets of the Ohio State basketball team choosing elsewhere plus who they could be bringing in. And to finish the show at 33:45, CB and Rhymetime preview the Final Four matchups with their keys for each game and picks on who will advance to the title game and then cut the nets down on Monday night. We are on the eve of February 1st which means we are getting closer to March! Looking back at last weekend to start the show with the Kansas Jayhawks having an ALL-TIME choke job in Allen Fieldhouse in a double OT loss to Houston. UNC and Duke add another chapter their historic rivalry and we breakdown that game on Saturday night. At about 12:25, we hear from our guy Rick Pitino with his message to Big Blue Nation with John Calipari making his return to Rupp. How do we feel the Kentucky fans should welcome him back? Then at the 24:10 mark, Rhymetime hit the road to check out the Cintas Center and the electric Xavier and UConn game. He takes us into the Cintas Center with a review on the arena and what the atmosphere was like. And then to finish the show, the Ohio State basketball team is ROLLIN' and they have a battle with Illinois on Sunday. We talk about what areas they have been exceling at during this win streak, and how they can go into Champaign and pick up another road win.
It's nearing the end of January in College Basketball and things are really heating up. Timmy Hall and Evil Bald Colin get you caught up from games from over the weekend and earlier this week. Alabama and Kentucky was awesome! At about the 10:40 mark the guys get into the situation that happened at TCU with Hunter Dickinson and other TCU players holding onto the ball for a long period of time. Bill Self wasn't a huge fan of that act from his big man. Dan Hurley is at it again, this time declaring himself as the best coach in the sport and the guys discuss if he makes a good case or not. Are replay reviews becoming a problem in the sport? The guys break that down at 24:10 and throw out some ideas to make late-game reviews better. Also, the Ohio State basketball team picked up a MASSIVE win in Mackey Arena knocking off Purdue. What was working for the Buckeyes, and can they go on a run here off this big win? And finally, at the 35-minute mark Rhymetime joins the pod to give an update on North Carolina after dropping two games in a row and what their issues are, along with a look ahead at the huge weekend slate coming up.

We did some buying or selling on a handful of teams in CBB on if they can get to the Final Four. Mick Cronin lights a fire under his guys, and Rhymetime gives a scorching hot take you'll want to listen for. Where do we stand on some of the teams in the Big Ten and if they can make it far in the Dance? Then, we rank our favorite College Basketball arenas. Some we have been to and some we hope to get to. But we also start out by giving our genuine thanks to all of you fine listers for supporting this pet project of ours. We cover the game as professionals and are true fans at heart. It's cool to be both of those things at the same time. Things to watch after we discuss this UConn team, at the 16:36 mark we talk about Dan Hurley as a coach...his coaching chops and his personality. The Road to the Final Four ends here. So who do we got? Is it the dominant teams like UConn and Purdue destined to meet on Monday night? Or can Alabama or NC State knock one of these juggernauts off their perch? Can you believe this? In the first half of Sweet 16 games alone we saw Clemson knock off Arizona, and Alabama take down 1 seed North Carolina. Crazy. First segment we almost have a National Championship ceremony for UConn. Are we wrong? We'll still make them play it out. But my goodness they dusted SDSU. At the 10:48 mark we get into the Tar Heels' game. And Cormac Ryan kind of told us not to be critical of RJ Davis. But we might do it anyway. At the 21:58 mark we talk about how we didn't see this coming at all from Clemson, and wonder how Brad Brownell lasted at Clemson as long as he did. I know that because of my Purdue parents and 44 years of not going to the Final Four. They're a one seed for a second straight year and they have some making up to do from last year. Thanks to Terrence Shannon Jr. turning on the afterburners and some of the worst and most unpredictable Big Ten refereeing you will see in a big time game, the Buckeyes late surge to The Big Dance came up short. They needed that win over Illinois to do it, and a 77-74 loss will be a tough pill to swallow. You get some of my reaction from my OSU Sports Network postgame show in the immediate aftermath in this snippet. And then in the 2nd segment we spend some more time on Chris Holtmann taking the job at DePaul and how unique a situation it is for him.

It's not an understatement to say that Jim Cleamons has experienced almost everything when you're talking about basketball. He's coached and played at the highest level in the world and his career in the game has spanned 7 decades. SEVEN decades. He played for the great Fred Taylor. He played with West, Baylor and Wilt. He played for the Cavs. He coached Jordan, Pippen, Shaq and Kobe, and so many others. And now he's coaching in the upcoming HBCU Classic for Columbus at Nationwide Arena on April 23. It's a wonderful event with a goal to generate the funds needed to run these fine institutions. Jim will be coaching the Ohio All-Stars, who will take on the HBCU All Stars in the event. We hit an array of topics in this pod, from when his love of the game was born, to playing for the Lakers, to his practice battles with Jerry West, being traded to the Cavs, the importance of HBCUs and more. The guys are split on the season outcomes for Wisconsin and Michigan State, but have the same team at the top. Where does Ohio State fit into the rankings? We share our sympathies for Penn State's fall from their one-season glory. We are back for a mid-July update! The Basketball Tournament begins and we couldn't be happier to have live basketball on again. "List" season is upon us, so we pick four coaches each to join us at a bar to be buddies and share stories. Pat Chambers is in some hot water, and Gene Smith shares some bad news on the idea of hosting more games at St. John Arena. Plus, breaking news hits that The Ivy League will be the first to cancel some sports for the 2020-2021 academic year.
We are back for some Summer updates! With news of voluntary workouts returning for Ohio State, It's time to catch up on all the happenings of the sport since March. Texas Tech lands a star point guard transfer, talking out loud about Ohio Classic Ideas, a new look Big East, and the climb of the Richmond Spiders are all highlighted in this episode!
After taking some time away to digest how this season ended, we tried to summarize what happened and what we will remember about it. The NCAA is in the process of ruling on extra-eligibility for spring sports, and the winter ones will be left out. There will be some newness next year as Bryce Drew and "Slick Rick" Pitino will return to head coaching positions. Recruiting will take a wild turn going forward, and the anticipation we feel for next year will be fulfilled.
So we're doing this podcast at 3pm on March 12th, the Day the Tournament died. Only we got this whole thing done before the tournament died. But damnit do we have takes on the cancelled tournaments, how the Big East actually thought they would start their tournament on Thursday, and we had a long interesting chat with Assoc. HC Mike Farrelly of Hofstra. How awful do you feel for those mid major coaches and players who don't get this kind of shot every year? Mike gives some great insight and opinions on how postponing would've been a great way to go about it. There's no more Big Dance, but here's one more podcast where that idea still lived!
