A couple of weeks ago I was in LA for the Bulletproof Biohacking Conference. You've probably seen various selfies on social media. I went over there to write a piece for Balance magazine and record for Zestology on going Back To The Future, with the world's most famous biohacker Dave Asprey. How does this guy do it?  Dave sat across from me, and he looked healthier and younger – way younger – than the last time I saw him ten months ago. He’s more toned, his guns are bigger than mine – I’m especially unhappy about that - the lines on his face are smoother, and hang on, he appears to have youthful dimples in his cheeks. Like a 20-something. Where did the dimples come from? He definitely didn’t have them at the start of the year. Ordinarily the first thing that would spring to mind is botox. But this is the man with a stated aim of living to the age of 180. And in his words, he’s not into sticking rat poison into his face. There is no beating around the bush. I need to know. We’re starting with the dimples. First question – how do you look annoyingly younger than last time, while I seem to be ageing not-go-gracefully? Want to know more? Listen to the podcast for the answer as well as the latest health tech, supplements, gadgets and a general geek out.

I love a walking meditation. Even if you are just fully present while walking it makes such a difference. Today's podcast is with a returning Strictly winner who's now all about meditation. And we walked and talked in this podcast. Camilla Dallerup won Strictly Come Dancing after six series with Tom Chambers in 2008. She's now an author and meditation teacher living in LA, and when she was in London recently she came on Zestology. We agreed to do a return version in LA while we walked... so here it is, recorded walking along the seafront in Santa Monica, and popping onto the pier at the same time.

I'm back from LA now. What a trip. The Bulletproof Conference was a chance to reconnect with friends and meet some new ones too.  Many of the recommendations at the conference are pretty much the complete opposite of what we are taught growing up about wellness. It can seem overwhelming. Butter is okay, nicotine’s okay too (but certainly not smoking), and so on. But many other hacks seem to be a mixture of the futuristic and the primal. As well as eating plenty of veggies, most of those gathered in LA are big fans of meditation and getting some natural sunlight in the morning. Hardly anything particularly revolutionary about that. Light is a drug - eh? Light is a big theme at the conference. Some speakers talk about how light affects your brain like a drug. Experts and exhibitors alike look at adapting your environment so that the lights help you to perform at your best, especially if you live somewhere cold, damp and grey, (sound familiar?). As well as our dearth of natural sunlight in a northern hemisphere winter, some of our offices and devices apparently emit five times more blue light than daylight, which really messes with our sleep and circadian rhythms. Today I'm with Scott Nelson, a man who knows all about light, and in fact has invented a device that is rather cool. And man, it's bright! Check out the podcast for more, and Scott's website here.

I've been in ketosis for the last 4 months. (Click here if the word ketosis means nothing to you)  My reasons: Well not weight loss (although I've toned up - he says modestly), but for decreased inflammation, better digestion, improved skin and sharp thinking, And all that is working quite well. I'm really enjoying it, but it takes a month of feeling a little tired (they call it the Keto Flu) when you first get into it. At least that's what happened to me. Want more details? Check out today's podcast.  Incidentally, this podcast is with the world's biggest expert in Ketosis - Dom D'Agostino. He's an absolute legend and I'm thrilled to be able to chat to him about so many important aspects of Keto, how to get into it, the benefits and the pitfalls and so on. Thanks Dom!

If magnesium is so good for us, why don’t we ever hear about it from our doctors? Why your daily routine should include magnesium instead of 5 cups of coffee. Don't have a socially awks moment by buying the wrong kind of magnesium! Why is magnesium supplementation so important? It can help with Anxiety and depression, sleep, energy levels, stomach problems, nerve problems and heart issues. And apparently almost all of us are deficient in it. So why aren't we all supplementing with magnesium? Well if you've had problems like the ones mentioned, you might want to listen in. Today's Zestology expert is Dr. Carolyn Dean, the world's foremost expert on magnesium supplementation. She'll explain how magnesium can help with all of the above, and most importantly, what supplements to take and what NOT to take. (Clue: if you go to the store and buy basic magnesium tablets, they may well have an unwanted and socially awks effect. You need the right kind.)

Ketosis - I'm not going to lie, it's not easy. It took me a good 6 weeks to feel comfortable with the diet. But now I'm feeling sharp, enjoying not feeling bloated after meals, and even have got rid of the love handles. So I've done a podcast on how to get into keto quickly with an absolute expert in his field - Dr Anthony Gustin. PS - I'm not doing this diet to lose weight. I'm doing it to increase energy, decrease inflammation, and generally feel awesome. But weight loss and toning up has come too. (He says modestly.) Always consult your practitioner before embarking on a new diet - especially ketosis which does require some adjustments in terms of supplements.

New Stuff Friday has been renamed! Thanks for all the feedback and suggestions. It's now ZestHacks. If you are interested in stuff that will make you feel more energised, motivated and awesome - then you'll enjoy these gadgets/supplements/lifestyle hacks for more energy. I've been recording one of my new Friday podcasts on Blue Blocking glasses. They're effective for helping you to produce melatonin at night, sleep better and so on. Problem is - some of the blue-blocking glasses around aren't exactly stylish. Wearing stupid glasses in the name of bringing you this information. I'm so good to you. ps - check instagram.com/tonywrighton for just how hideous blue-blockers can be!

Question - what is the first thing you do when you wake up? If you're like the majority of people, it may well be checking your phone. Okay, okay, I'm happy to admit occasionally that's me too. Thing is, it turns out that filling your brain with your Facebook feed/emails/pictures of fluffy dogs on instagram isn't necessarily the best thing for your brain. Jeff Sanders is the author of a bestselling book called 'The 5am Miracle'. And he reckons that if we get up at 5am (whoaa), we'll all be properly on it and achieve more, be happier, and so on.  It sounds like a kind of hell to me, but I'm keeping an open mind in the interview. He someone who massively values energy, so I'm willing to listen to what he has got to say. Listen now, ready for your 5am alarm call tomorrow. Hmmm, maybe.

Biohacking what is it? Why do I bang on about biohacking What I've been up to recently and my latest obsession My mates sometimes take the mickey out of me for using the word biohacking. That's okay. I am quite easy to take the mickey out of! But Biohacking can be quite an interesting way of improving your energy, wellness, performance and athletic levels. What is biohacking? There are probably plenty of fancy explanations for what biohacking is. Let me try a simpler one. Biohacking is about tweaking your diet and lifestyle to be the best version of yourself. Here's a good article about biohacking. I've used biohacking to get healthier, focus more effectively and lots more stuff. So I wanted to do a podcast about it with this fella. A former fitness model, Ryan Munsey has created and sold a performance training facility (House of Strength), written for leading fitness publications (Men’s Fitness, T-Nation, EliteFTS) is a member of the Men’s Health Fitness Council, and spends his days as the Chief Optimizer at a well known supplement company leading the way in brain health and optimization. Listen to us geek out on today's interview on Zestology. Have a great weekend and if you have any good biohacks, let me know.

The cool thing about functional health solutions is that sometimes they can provide you some answers when a visit to a conventional doctor leaves you scratching your head. I found that out a few years ago when I got sick, and so did my friend Celest who I've interviewed this week. This week's podcast 🍊- with Celest Pereira Celest Pereira is a friend of the podcast - this is her fourth time as a guest - and an internationally-renowned yoga teacher. But now she's sharing a story of a very personal nature, her hair loss, and her natural health journey. I'm so grateful to her for being so honest on Zestology, I don't think it's easy to bare your soul like this, but it'll provide inspiration for many I'm sure. Cheers Celest! So what's this all about? Hair loss is a symptom that is increasingly on the rise amongst otherwise 'healthy' people. But it's not hair loss itself, this story is relevant to anyone who's got unexplained symptoms, and hasn't had many answers from doctors. Or Dr. Google 😂

I've been interested for a while in getting on a physical pain specialist on my podcast. When I spoke to back-pain expert Esther Gokhale a while back, it had a huge response and lots of people listened. So - we've brought in body expert Aaron Alexander for more. You'll love this, and you may well sort your back out while you listen. Yep, I've had problems with a dodgy back in the past too. Ever heard of Align Therapy? Aaron Alexander is awesome, and occasionally just slightly inappropriate. (You'll hear this in the first few minutes of the podcast). Also - is "sitting the new smoking"? Aaron answers the question on today's show. The link between physicality and what's going on in the mind I totally subscribe to this. I know when I'm relaxed, happy, stress-free, my body works better too. Want more of this vibe? Listen now. How getting naked helps your back Hmm, hard to explain in an email. But, as I recently discovered, getting naked can help your back pain and general wellbeing levels. Aaron's got some fascinating thoughts on this. You need to listen to the podcast for this bit I think.

Do you have trouble breathing, relaxing, and sleeping? Are you sitting still and staring at screens for most of your waking hours? Are you consuming stimulants multiple times per day to hide your exhaustion? This week on my podcast, I interview Charlie Hoehn, the author of a popular book that I loved when I read it a few years ago. He also wrote a blog post about anxiety that pretty much broke the internet. In fact even now it's the top search result on anxiety, and curing anxiety. Charlie had some big problems with stress. Shallow breathing, tension in the gut, chest pains, rapid heartbeat. Anxiety destroyed his confidence, productivity, relationships, and ability to enjoy life. Then he made one massive change. Listen on to find out more...

First up, I've been spending plenty of time out in nature this summer - trying to get a bit more primal. I walked up Snowdon (the highest mountain in England and Wales) a couple of weeks ago, and took this pic which looks surprisingly like someone's plonked an emoji in the lake.  So many of my Zestology podcast guests talk about the importance of getting back to nature, and being a bit more primal. Having climbed Snowdon I felt the same thing. Especially with emojis to help me on my way. Zestology Podcast this week This week's Zestology was also recorded outside, with Ayurveda expert Natalie Roper. Thousands of years before modern medicine provided scientific evidence for the mind-body connection, the sages of India developed Ayurveda. Which it turns out can massively sort you out. Listen to the podcast for more, or for a quick link, take this 'What's Your Dosha' test now. This was a lovely podcast to record - getting slightly sunburnt at Yoga Connects Festival outside, even if I'm not sure about the ghee fast Natalie was talking about.

Over the last couple of weeks I've been to a couple of festivals in the West Country. The Tolpuddle Festival in Devon (shaking Jeremy Corbyn's hand possibly the highlight of that one.) And Yoga Connects festival in Glastonbury, where I was also speaking. It was my third time there, and it lived up to the other two - what an awesome weekend of fun, exercise and a few drinks too. I bumped into this fella, someone I've been meaning to interview for a long time, if only I could get hold of him for more than 5 minutes! Overcoming adversity Author Brett Moran has lived an incredible life of ups and downs. Brett's life changed forever when serving time because of a drug deal. He found himself in the prison library and stumbled across a book on meditation. The story is quite something - and it's all in the podcast. In a nutshell, listen to this podcast to find more love, joy and happiness through simple gratitude practices and living more authentically. He really does live in the present. I'm inspired to do that more after hanging out with him. Simple!

Squatty potties  Carl Jung's collective unconscious Ketonix breath meters The best water filters money can buy The benefits of hypnosis My new podcast idea for Fridays (please let me know your feedback on this) And many more vitality-related bits and pieces. Okay, you're totally wondering what a Squatty Potty is now aren't you. Check it out - apparently it's a way to, er, get more primal when you go to the toilet. Our ancestors squatted for centuries before the invention of the modern day toilet. In fact, the majority of the world's population still squats today! So it's perhaps not as weird as it sounds. Dr. Stephen Simpson is one of my regular Zestology guests and good friends. He is an Elite Performance Coach, and works with top professional poker players such as Chris Moorman and Liv Boeree on helping them achieve their potential in every area of their lives. Today's podcast is Dr. Steve and me answering your questions. Thank you for posting them, remember to let me know what you think, and if you have any questions for future episodes that's cool too...

Are you ready for a Brain Boost? That's the name of my friend Karl's new podcast. When I spoke to my friend Karl Morris on Zestology a while back, it got a big response. He's a leading performance coach in the world of sport and kind of a big deal (though he'd be far too modest to admit that himself). This time, he's now started a podcast himself and it's been fun chatting to him about his ideas for it. I know he'll be a huge success in the podcast world because he's so damn good at what he does, and I was honoured to be interviewed by him on his new show. So here, with kind permission of Karl, is the interview we recorded. Enjoy (and remember this link is a special day early link). And if you like Karl, you can listen to more of him on Zestology on episodes 5 and 83.

I'm not going to lie, sometimes I worry about getting older. Do you? Laura Coe is an entrepreneur, podcast host, philosophy lover and certified life coach. She's a brilliant podcast guest, because she tells us in simple terms how age is just a number, and there's no need to worry about it. Hmm, sounds good. The podcast is all about energy, and feeling good as you get older is all part of that, I reckon. As you'll hear I'm sceptical... but I'm happy to admit Laura is good So who is this Laura Coe?  She had a high-powered corporate career, and when I say high-powered, she was right at the top. But then something dramatic happened, and everything changed. You'll hear about that too. Laura's a repeat Zestology guest - because I know people enjoyed listening last time.

It's fascinating to study daily rituals of successful people. And that's one of the main themes in this podcast. Jaret Grossman is one of those sickening individuals who seems to be good at everything! And one of the reasons I loved this podcast is we violently disagreed on the subject of daily rituals.   He's the co-founder of Muscle Prodigy - a company that has built a huuge following online. And he's a 3x All American Wrestler.   Here's the kind of stuff he talks about.    - Discover Your Life Purpose  - Learn How to TAKE BACK Control of Your Mind  - Become an Emotional Jedi and Master Your Emotions Rather than Allow Them to Master You  - Find Out How to Do MORE with Less Time  - Understand the Crucial Elements to Building a Successful Brand  - Foster Deep and Impactful Relationships   - Be Able to Influence People's Behavior and Decisions for the Greater Good  - Earn Money in Multiple Ways and at Elevated Heights   .... and of course, DAILY RITUALS!   Enjoy the show.

He's also responsible for the music that you hear at the start of the podcast. We recorded this as part of a special Spotify series on music. If you'd like to listen to the full series head over to Zestology on Spotify. One more thing - listen out for the end of the podcast where I'm recording at the famous Morning Gloryville party.

IV drips, do they work if you are healthy but in need of a boost? Can they get rid of your hangover? The big question! 30% discount if you want to try it out. DISCLAIMER: This week's podcast was not recorded on a hangover 😂 It was recorded WHILE I had an intravenous drip pumping 25 grams of Vitamin C and 1.5 grams of Magnesium into my bloodstream. Dr Josh Berkowitz's treatments are based on the direct intravenous introduction of fluids and vitamins into the body. IVs are the quickest way to deliver fluids into the bloodstream. Check out the drip gently releasing Vit C into my arm while we chat on the website - pics there. But how did I feel when I got one while talking to Dr. Josh? And could high-dose vitamins and minerals pumped into your body benefit you? I love meeting world experts, chatting to them and rolling my sleeves up and trying new stuff at the same time. I hope you enjoy listening to it too. You can listen now on iTunes, Spotify, and the website. Also very cool - if you want to try it out for yourself, you can quote Zestology when you contact them at ivboost.uk and get 30% off. A not too shabby discount. Stay zesty.

Sometimes we get so mired in stress, anxiety or wrapped up in our problems, it's hard to remember how to relax. So today I speak to one of the UK's top psychologists all about stress and balance. Anna Williamson used to be a pop band, then was one of the UK's most popular children's TV presenters. It's quite a journey from that to respected psychologist (yes, I just used the J word). She's now the resident psychologist for Big Brother and ITV's This Morning, two of the biggest shows on UK television. Join us as we discuss 'funny mind stuff'. She's had her own problems with anxiety and stress, and she's now all about balance. Anna and I met to record at a venue in Central London - possibly the noisiest hotel in the city. Somehow it doesn't sound too loud on the interview though, thanks partly to some very friendly people we met who talked sotto voce while we recorded.

The author of the brilliant best-selling book - The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a Fk. I keep seeing people reading this book all over London. It's been a huge hit for Sarah. The interview contained such amusing parts as the four categories of potential F giving. Then she wrote the book - Get Your Sht Together: How to stop worrying about what you should do so you can finish what you need to do and start doing what you want to do. Now she's moved to the Dominican Republic, recorded a viral Tedx talk, and had a crazy Zestology-inspired coincidence. All of which is good podcast topic material. Potty-mouthed Sarah Knight specialises in best-selling books with vaguely naughty words in the title. And she's decidedly anti-guru. She's perfect for Zestology.

It's all about The Journey. TIME Magazine called him one of the “Top 100 Most Influential People in the World” and he's on today's podcast, reminding us to enjoy the journey. I'm still buzzing after our latest live event in London. It was just so cool to meet lots of friendly Zestologists doing some innovative (some would say crazy) stuff to improve their energy and performance levels. We also had the legendary ultramarathoner Dean Karnazes there - the man who never stretches, even after running 300 miles!  Dean is a big name. So impressive that TIME named him one of the “Top 100 Most Influential People in the World” and Men’s Fitness honored him as one of the fittest men on the planet. Our topic this week? We’re chatting nitty gritty, including how Dean knocked off 50 marathons spanning 50 U.S. states in just 50 days and what it takes to run 350 miles across 80 sleep-free hours. Listen up now. Relationships, setting boundaries, and living with integrity This week on Zestology I speak to an extraordinary author - Dr. Robert Glover. He's simply awesome on relationships, setting boundaries, and living with integrity. I contacted him because I admire his work, and I'm pleased he came on the show. He's a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and wrote the cult classic No More Mr Nice Guy.

Trust me. You REALLY need to listen to this podcast. Coming up. Why we need to worry about EMFs Protect yourself from cancer Do laptops have a significant impact on fertility? Protecting your sensitive areas! I've been trying to set this interview up for 9 months, and I'm so excited it's finally happened. I genuinely think it's one of the most important Zestology podcasts I've recorded. Daniel is a leader in shielding electronic emissions and protecting our bodies from potentially harmful radiation. He's spent his career as a technical expert in telecommunications, and now is highly focused on the electromagnetic field (EMF) radiation exposures from electronic devices. Basically, he knows his stuff. And that stuff is pretty worrying. So listen on, and do me a favour - don't put that phone in your pocket anymore. (Unless it is in airport mode).

How Tapping and Emotional Freedom Therapy can help you. And how it helped me.  On this episode: How the crazy concept of tapping on various parts of the face and body is becoming more and more popular. Is this the most important podcast I've ever recorded? How "Tapping" helped me I've been meaning to record a podcast with Ashley Meyer of the Energy Therapy Centre for a long time. But as you'll here in today's podcast, I haven't quite felt ready until now. That's because I've worked with Ashley for quite a few years, with genuinely incredible results, and it felt quite private to bring it into the podcast. But now - who cares - I just want you to know about the potential of EFT or 'tapping' as well. Obviously it's not for everyone (see diagram below), and I get that straightaway it looks kind of weird. So bear with me. It's no exaggeration to say that when I took 3 months off work because of illness, this, and Ashley, were the things more than anything else that helped me get back to health. That's why I think this might be the most important podcast I've ever recorded. You can listen on iTunes, Spotify and on the website.

More from my travels. As you know I've been on the road in Seattle, Tokyo, Bali and Dubai for the last month. And in Bali I met up with Zestology fave and celebrated yoga teacher Meghan Currie. And her super cute dogs (see blog pic). Meghan has SO much to offer for anyone who is interested in living in and loving every moment. As well as being a celebrated yoga teacher, Meghan Currie also blogs to her army of followers about travel and putting raw food on your face. Last time we spoke she lived... nowhere. I couldn't believe it. She was constantly on the road, touring, holding trainings and workshops and living on the road. That's all changed - and there was a lot to catch up on.

Ever been tempted to spend a week in a dark room with electrodes stuck to your head? I did that recently and I'm here to tell the tale. As you know I've been travelling for the last month - a trip for learning, adventures and new experiences, and this is what I did for the first week of my travels. Bulletproof's Dave Asprey has taken the 40 Years Of Zen program eight times. He joins me in this special podcast recorded in Seattle.  So what is 40 Years Of Zen? It's an immersive retreat and essentially what happens is you get electrodes attached to your head which read your brainwaves. It's called neurofeedback, and I know many people are interested in taking this program. So I was keen to record a podcast with Dave to explain exactly what you get for your money. It's not cheap but I had a worthwhile time and I'm still seeing the benefits. The big benefit for me, as you'll hear, was some deep deep self-awareness. You'll also hear how I was trusting enough to let the doctors at 40 Years Of Zen send an electrical current into my head. Dave says: “Neurofeedback is the #1 most impactful biohack that I have used in my entire life. That's saying a lot, because I have spent over $300,000 on personal upgrades" So enjoy this podcast, it's a seriously powerful way to improve your energy, vitality and motivation.

I've long been super suspicious about smart drugs, so I'm going to take some convincing. Is my guest on this podcast the man to prove it? Because today on the Zestology podcast, I interview a guy who's made it his mission to get us into 'peak brain state' more often.  Covered on this episode of Zestology Are 'smart drugs' safe? Is there a drug that can make us smarter? How do we get into peak brain state more often? What legal supplements and stacks could we take to improve our brain function? Dr. Andrew Hill runs the Peak Brain Institute, and also leads the team of TruBrain neuroscientists that have put together some interesting and groundbreaking supplement products. They say they have helped CEOs, hedge fund managers, and artists achieve new levels of performance by using advanced neurotech devices to measure their brainwaves data when they were deep in thought, managing stress, juggling distractions, and thinking on their feet. This podcast is brought to you by Bulletproof Coffee and supplements. This month I've been going big on their Collagen protein, it's all about the Collagen for the froth in coffee, and also matcha tea too... works a treat, and gives you a flavourless shot of seriously good protein too. Simply use the code ZESTOLOGY at checkout for 10% off if you want to get involved.. (Code works in both US and UK/Europe stores)

Here's what happened when I went to meet my old friend, TV's Richard Arnold. Richard is known to millions who watch him on Good Morning Britain every morning. He also appeared on Strictly Come Dancing (the UK version of Dancing With The Stars. One of the great things about Zestology is sometimes we go in depth on health, nutrition, supplements, lifestyle hacks, and sometimes keep it more general by chatting to someone who has had lots of success and find out exactly what makes them tick, and what motivates them. And when Richard and I got together for a Zestology chat, we both got all reflective. How often do you think about getting older? Might this be the best time of your life? What is the best way to deal with ageing? How do we maintain motivation as we get (a bit!) older? How do we improve with age? (Fine wine anyone?)

Love and relationships. How do you make it all work? Because let's be honest, when that goes well, most things seem to slot into place.  Giulia Rozzi is a writer, comedian, actress, producer and "very emotional person" (her words!). Her life is basically her work. When her marriage broke down, she performed her hit show Bad Bride all over the world. Now she presents the podcast Hopefully We Don't Split Up with her new(ish) boyfriend.  This podcast involved her grilling me about my love life too. Wow. It was a lot of fun... and Giulia has picked up a lot of relationships wisdom on her comedic journey. Just don't call her a Relationship Expert.

More and more Zestology listeners are heading to Spotify to listen to the podcasts. So together with Spotify I cooked up a plan which I'm very excited to announce today. Today, I release two exclusive Spotify-only podcasts which tie in the themes, of energy, motivation, and music. We have two world famous artists involved in recording the podcasts. Jono Grant from trance group Above and Beyond, and DJ and musician Lane 8. Both of whom of course have a huge following on Spotify. Jono’s is really interesting on music and creativity, and how he gets into the creative vibe. A&B are obviously a massive worldwide success and he also talks about the biggest gig he ever played - in front of 1 million people in Rio. Over on the other podcast, Lane 8 hosts events called ‘This Never Happened’ where clubbers are encouraged to enjoy the event, stay in the present and not take pics/vids. It’s a brilliant idea. The atmosphere at his gigs is unreal!

This year, I wanted to focus on creating a podcast for you right at the start of 2017 that focuses on achieving exactly what you want, using one of the most powerful techniques that's featured on the show over the last year. And it turns out the key is not resolutions, but New Year's Intentions. Once you make them intentions, the pressure is off, and the Law of Attraction starts to send you towards what you want with powerful energy. Please do listen to the podcast for more on creating good intentions for the year ahead. How can the Law of Attraction help us make this year our best ever? What is the best way to write down our 2017 goals? The secret little behaviours that lead to big wins To answer those questions, I've done two things. Firstly, I've chatted to Zestology Law of Attraction expert Jeannette Maw. She's been on Oprah to talk LOA, and she knows her stuff. She's also been the guest on the most downloaded Zestology show of all time. Then, I went back and listened to the podcast I recorded at this time last year with elite performance coach Dr. Stephen Simpson to discuss the perfect approach to goal setting. It turns out, that there are huge similarities between the two styles to goal-setting. And the two compliment each other very well.

You can listen here, or head to www.tonywrighton.com to see the pics. I'm back in 2017 with (wait for it) 5 podcasts in the first 3 days of the year. Yep, I've been busy at work. According to scientists, we are surrounded by so much technology these days, even a goldfish can now focus on something for longer than a human. Researchers surveyed 2,000 participants, and the results showed the average human attention span has fallen from 12 seconds in 2000, or around the time the mobile revolution began, to eight seconds. Goldfish, meanwhile, are believed to have an attention span of nine seconds. Yeh, we need to do something about this. When I spoke to my friend Karl Morris on Zestology a while back, it got a big response. He's a leading performance coach in the world of sport and kind of a big deal (though he'd be far too modest to admit that himself). How do you sleep? I thought I knew most of the important stuff about sleep, morning routines, and caffeine, but I just interviewed Dr. Oz's sleep doctor specialist, Dr Michael Breus, and he told me some stuff that blew my mind.  I'm actually writing this with a cup of coffee by my side, and I've changed my morning routine (and coffee routine) because of the information I learnt from Dr. Breus. He's seriously well qualified. In addition to his private practice where he treats athletes, celebrities, and the like, he also "trains other sleep doctors and consults with major airlines, hotel chains, and retailers to provide the optimum sleep experience for their customers." So if you're interested in improving your sleep, and therefore performance and energy levels - listen to today's Zestology.

According to her, it takes 21 days to create a healthy habit. So whatever you want to achieve, if you're willing to give it 21 days, you could change things permanently. Sometimes on my podcast Zestology I get very specific - into the nitty gritty of supplements, lifestyle practices and the science of feeling good. And then sometimes, I like to meet and pick the brains of interesting, successful and prominent people with a damn good story to tell. Roll on this week - yep this pic is me hanging out with 80s pop sensation Sinitta. Sinitta has 14 international hit singles. I was basically singing along to her music in the 80s. She is a mentor on The X Factor and she now makes her own fitness videos. But one of the best moments in our chat - I thought - was when she told the long and yes, maybe even a bit painful story of how she realised she "wasn't famous any more", and how she dealt with some serious ups and downs.

Have you heard of dutch daredevil "The Iceman", Wim Hof, yet? If not, you have a treat in store in this week's podcast. I first saw him speak in California last year. This guy is incredible. He holds 20 world records, including a world record for longest ice bath. Wim has shown what the human body is capable of once you find the flow within your physical and mental state. He describes his ability to withstand extreme cold temperatures as being able to "turn his own thermostat up" by using his mind through yoga. He climbed to 6.7 kilometres (22,000 ft) altitude at Mount Everest wearing nothing but shorts and shoes. I know! And he completed a full marathon above the arctic circle in Finland, in temperatures close to −20 °C (−4 °F). Dressed in nothing but shorts, Hof finished in 5 hours and 25 minutes.  Listen to today's podcast for the opportunity to reach out and do more than what you thought you were capable of.  Through the right training and exercises, you can strengthen your inner nature and prevent disease.

What small little changes could you make to up your game? What simple lifestyle practices could you use right now to increase your performance levels? How could you find an extra 5% and feel awesome every day?

Today's Zestology guest is a favourite of mine and a fave on the podcast too, Laura Bond. Laura is a health journalist and health coach, and her techniques are cutting edge and fascinating... vitamin C injections, coffee enemas and infrared saunas are par for the course.

Last time we spoke we looked a lot at alternative solutions for better health. This time we look more at the practices you can use to take an already happy and fulfilled life to a new level - finding that extra 5%.

Her book and articles are like a guidebook for anyone who wants to find the edge and take their performance levels up a notch. In addition, she's had a crazy 7 or 8 months since we last met, so there was a lot to catch up on. We walked through Soho and recorded as we walked, ending up sitting on a park bench in Golden Square alongside the pigeons, it was, as always with Laura, a lovely and inspiring day.

Also coming up, we road-test 'hypertonic drinks' (and accidentally spill them on my trousers - sad times.)

Today's podcast is for anyone who's interested in ideas for boosting their energy, vitality and health. Laura's particularly well informed, and her journey since we last spoke is a must listen. Also, 'pets with boobs' make an appearance in today's podcast, and this scary prospect alone should be enough to make you listen.

It's a New Year special, all based around achieving your goals, setting your goals the right way, and actually getting things done.

Coming up, myself and elite performance coach Dr. Stephen Simpson will answer these questions.

Do New Year's Resolutions actually work? What is the best way to write down our 2016 goals? How do we make sure that they actually stick? The secret little behaviours that lead to big wins

To answer those questions, I've got together on Zestology with my very wise friend Dr. Stephen Simpson for a special start-to-2016 podcast, to discuss the perfect approach to goal setting. You may remember him wearing a very unusual meditation headset as we recorded Zestology episode 19 way back last spring.

Today's podcast is one of the most emotional I've recorded. Bruce Van Horn has had plenty of ups, and some plunging downs over his life, and his story is shocking and uplifting.

Bruce is a motivational life coach, entrepreneur, and author of the book Worry No More!  He’s cultivated a 4-step plan for his readers to stop worrying and start living with ease because, as he says, "life’s marathon, not a sprint".

He has 400,000 followers on Twitter, and he's one of the most retweeted people on the planet. Listen on for an emotional chat with one of America's top life coaches.

A doctor that sings to his patients. I know - it sounds utterly crazy doesn't it. I must admit I was super sceptical before I interviewed Dr. Steven Eisenberg, and now I confess I'm won over by his sheer energy and enthusiasm for looking after his patients physical and emotional wellbeing.

But you can make your own mind up. Just make sure you listen, as he's a true healer, and he's certainly not conventional. He's won awards for the way he looks after his patients.

How good would it be to have a doctor that looked after your emotional as well as your physical needs?

Dr. Steven Eisenberg is a board certified oncologist who is certified in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology and Hematology, and is most known for his love of writing songs for people living with cancer through The Lyrical Life Foundation.  He was just nominated for Best Bedside Manner for Medical Specialties in the Tri-city Medical Center, Academy Awards and for good reason. He also has tens of thousands of followers on social media and now has his own TV show starting soon.

Learn how to tame the voice in your head Reduce stress without losing your edge Find self-help that actually works.

I was having a coffee with my mate James a couple of months ago and he recommended me a book called 10% Happier. "I haven't read it yet, so I can't vouch for it", he said, "but someone told me it's good".

Hmmm, not exactly the most enthusiastic of endorsements, but for some reason I decided to go and buy the book anyway. A couple of months on, I'm blown away by how good it is, and how inspiring it was for me personally. The story starts with American ABC Good Morning America presenter Dan Harris having a traumatic breakdown, live on air. This experience leads him down the path of trying to find answers, which he eventually does with meditation, the thing that makes him '10% happier'.

I messaged Dan straight after I finished the book, and I'm so pleased he's come on Zestology. He's got a great story, and this is undoubtedly one of my all-time favourite Zestology podcasts.

If you're a meditation sceptic (or skeptic), listen on. If you are a convert, definitely listen on, as this will provide more answers and some inspiration towards developing your meditative mojo.

What if there were natural plants and herbs which would help you have more energy, sleep better, feel more alive, get more relaxed when you need it and sleep better?

Today on Zestology podcast, I continue my LA adventure by hanging out with Shannon Drake, an inspiring entrepreneur who runs two health companies and has so much to offer for those seeking alternative health and wellbeing solutions. If you had a simple breathing technique which helped you relax in stressful situations, get calm when you really needed it and even get to sleep at night, would you use it?

Today on Zestology podcast, some awesome stories, great fun, and an in depth look at three specific breathing techniques with Lucy Bruegger.

Lucy is a London based yoga teacher, a friend of mine and an awesome teacher with a very broad approach. I love Lucy’s work so much so I went and did some yoga with her in Greece (scroll down to see the amazing spot we went to). She’s had a huge number of different trainings not just in yoga but in all different types of meditative and spiritual practices, including, as you’ll hear, some surprising stories and some crazy experiences such as spending 11 days in a row saying absolutely nothing at all. A silent retreat. (There is no way I could ever do this. I might struggle with 11 minutes.)

Rest assured we talk all about that, and in fact dig into some of the most crazy personal development experiences it’s possible to have, followed by 3 breathing techniques for meditation, relaxation, and peace. They’re totally simple and you can try them as you listen. (Unless driving. Then listen after, please.)

When you listen you'll hear:

Silence for 11 Days [4:00] Sitting with strong determination [5:45] Learning self-reliance [8:20] Exploring your limits through sweat lodges [12:15] Exposing your own habits [14:40] No one can take away your potential of being happy [17:40] Meditation and breathing techniques [22:20] Cleaning and cleansing channels [26:15] Humming to cut through mind chatter [29:10] Ujjayi Breathing techniques [32:50] Lucy’s morning routine [37:10] No resistance & no expectations [41:20]

The set of skills that can help you be happier, healthier and more persuasive.

Millions use NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) every day, and I've trained to the highest level in it. It's the basis for my books, audiobooks and underpins much of what we do on Zestology too. But what the hell is NLP - apart from a strange and slightly confusing name - and how could you use it now?

I recently made a conference speech about Zestology, meditation and the power of NLP. So this week’s Zestology podcast was recorded live at the NLP Talks event in Central London. My musings were basically a series of stories from my life and how NLP has shaped it, changed it and improved it.

The event also included the best heckle I've ever had! Listen out at around 16 minutes on the podcast for this random shout out from the crowd.

If you'd like any of the following, then listen on for my personal experiences of NLP.

Feel happier or more confident. Inspire others. Get creative (and build a cool sidecar like the one in the pic at the bottom of this blog. Not sure anyone could actually fit in that though...) Improve your presentation skills. Feel motivated towards something coming up in the future. Achieve different goals. Be more persuasive. Improve at sport Get over a phobia.

Show notes (for reference - or if you want to skip to the most important bits).

Using your powers and skills for good [2:50] The most persuasive word in the world [6:20] Do what works [9:00] Becoming ill in the jungle [10:40] Escaping the screens [13:50] Switching off for 2 hours a day [16:20] Meditation and hypnosis [17:40] The value of sleep health and hygiene [19:45] Blue blocking glasses [21:40] Quantified self [23:10]

Hey Sauerkraut fans! (Silence). Actually I love sauerkraut, and confess I am a bit of a fermented foods geek although I've never plucked up the courage to DIY at home. But whatever you think of it, there is a very good reason for fermenting, and it is not necessarily to introduce some tasty healthy recipes into our diet. Although it does that too.

It’s because an increasing body of research suggests that fermented foods can influence not just our gut health, but our brain health as well. The gut-brain link comes up again!

In a recent study researchers at UCLA demonstrated that daily consumption of a fermented product containing five different strains of probiotic bacteria actually changed the brain’s emotional response to various stimuli, as measured on an advanced brain imaging thingamijig!

In other words, putting more fermented good stuff into your tummy can have a major impact on your high performance levels, and change how your brain works.

Jill Ciciarelli is the owner of First Comes Health, a certified holistic health coach, and the author of a fantastic book, Fermented: A four season approach to Paleo probiotic foods. Jill is definitely your go-to expert for all your home-fermenting needs and how it could change your life, your gut and your brain health.

Should you go low fat or high fat? Are protein shakes good for you? Is being vegetarian and vegan healthier?

The answers to these questions and many more coming up today - on a need to know basis.

Rhiannon Lambert has an amazing story, and was an excellent guest to interview.

At the age of 16 she was plucked from obscurity to become one of the UK’s leading sopranos. Catapulted into a glamorous world, she became famous for her voice. She’d made a hugely successful career for herself, but behind the scenes, was struggling with the pressure.

She tells this story today on Zestology, and how she started to get involved in nutrition, healthy eating and wellbeing.

She now still sings all around the world - in fact as you’ll hear she’s singing at the Rugby World Cup this week - and combines that with a successful career in nutrition. Her online blogs and social media sites are hugely popular, she works as a nutritional consultant from two different clinics on Harley Street, with olympic athletes, celebrities, NHS hospitals and specialises in eating disorders as well.

She is - in short - busy.

Rhiannon is an awesome Zestology guest. In today’s show we start with Rhiannon’s story, and then move onto the 8 need to know nutrition facts. This podcast truly is about the dramatic impact healthy eating can have on performance at the highest level.

When you listen you'll hear:

Today's Zestology podcast looks at instant natural solutions for more energy. Stuff you can do now. And - fasicinatingly, runs natural anti-ageing clinics. Dr Salerno is an anti-ageing pioneer. He's a well known doctor on TV in the USA, known to viewers of CBS, Fox and a host of other channels.

I love his approach - to embrace the whole person – mind, body, and spirit – treating the entire person rather than just symptoms. An awesome approach that kind of embodies what we want to do with Zestology.

And check out the list of benefits he promises with his outlook - more energy, ideal weight, clear skin, greater memory, improved digestion, better sleep, less anxiety, and much more.

And there is more to Dr. Salerno. After the terrorist bombings of September 11, 2001, he served as the Medical Director for the World Trade Center Landfill, a position that earned him a commendation from then-mayor Rudy Giuliani. Furthermore, he was charged with monitoring the health of public workers assigned to manage the massive landfill, as much of the debris from the World Trade Center was riddled with airborne chemicals, heavy metals, and toxic buildup.

Zestology is all about living with energy, vitality and motivation, and today's show features one of the USA's leading doctors on natural solutions, anti-ageing and energy.

Sleep is one of the key elements of better energy, vitality and motivation. Time and again it’s come up on Zestology podcast as a really important element of feeling great and performing at your very best. But somehow getting good, deep sleep is easier said than done.

Nick Littlehales he is a leading figure in the field of sleep, especially with sports stars having worked with top football clubs, such as Manchester United, Chelsea, and Real Madrid, the England’s national side and a host of Olympians and tour de france winners.

The Guardian recently called him "The man who showed Cristiano Ronaldo how to sleep", and that's when I first heard about him. I now realise what a big deal he is in the world of sport, and sleep, so I'm chuffed he agreed to come on Zestology.

As the Guardian said, "Sleep coaches exist, although the only surprising thing about that is that it took so long for such a job to be taken seriously in the world of sport".

FOOTNOTE: The night after I interviewed Nick Littlehales, I implemented just two of the changes he recommended, and - according to my jawbone wristband - I had the deepest night's sleep I've ever had (almost 4 hours 30 of deep sleep).

Zestology is all about living with energy, vitality and motivation, and today's show features perhaps the top expert worldwide in the area of sleep and sport. Listen on for how he can help you.

Could you live to 1000? Would you want to?

Today's Zestology podcast guest makes some extraordinary claims. Cambridge scientist and researcher Dr. Aubrey de Grey argues that aging is merely a disease and a curable one too. He talks about a post-ageing world. Humans age in seven basic ways, he says, all of which can be reversed, eventually. He is a celebrated and controversial scientist and researcher, and he says the first person to live to 1000 might be alive already.

Amazing prospect. You could be 30,40,50 now and you could live to 150, or even 1000. Crazy, right? But that is what Aubrey De Grey is suggesting will happen.

His popular TED talk on the subject has had hundreds of thousands of views. He is definitely a maverick and controversial, and this is a must-listen Zestology.

Hi [firstname,fallback=there],

I recently wrote about the hunched posture that people have when they check their mobile phone being described as 'the posture of failure'. Looking down, head facing downwards with shoulders hunched forwards - yes, this is the universally acknowledged posture of defeat. If you want more proof, then during a football match check out the posture of the players who miss in a penalty shoot-out.

As you read this, are you hunched over a smartphone? Crouched over a computer? Slumped in a chair, Curved over a table? Some of us sit up to 17 hours a day, which is pretty obviously not ideal, especially if you are sitting in the wrong position.

Today’s Zestology guest might be able to help you with that. The New York Times calls her ‘the posture guru’. She is Esther Gokhale and the more we spoke, the more I realised how important good posture is for good health. I first heard her on a very inspirational TED talk - she was great so we got in touch and she agreed to come on Zestology.

GUARANTEE. When you listen to today's show, you will start to rearrange yourself into all kinds of postural adjustments that will make you feel good. The posture of success. (I'm not sure if the posture of success is an actual thing but you know what I mean).

When you listen you'll hear:

"Progress is impossible without change and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything." - George Bernard Shaw

Warning: I am about to discuss the H word. That's because one of the quickest ways I've found to create positive change is the aforementioned H word. Hypnosis.

Hypnosis gets a bad rap. Maybe that's because people think of people prancing around on a stage pretending to be a chicken when they think of hypnosis.

That's cool - I understand that. But hypnosis has so much more to offer. I use it almost every day, and so I wanted to use a Zestology podcast to explore its (potential) benefits for everyone.

Hypnotherapy is a form of complementary therapy that can bring about new responses, thoughts, attitudes, behaviours or feelings. (Not clucking like a chicken - that's stage hypnosis, which is obvs very different.)

Edrina Rush is one of the UK’s top hypnotists and hypnotherapists, so the perfect person to riff with on this subject. We headed to the park on a beautiful summer's day in London to discuss how hypnosis can help.

Are you a meditator? It turns out many high performers in all different areas are getting their meditation on. More and more leaders in the corporate/sporting/therapeutic worlds have been taking note of the benefits of meditation, which include lower stress levels, improved cognitive functioning, creative thinking and productivity, and even improved physical health.

Oprah Winfrey is known to do 20 minutes twice a day, and tells anyone who will listen. A lot of my friends and guests on Zestology have spoken about this, so it’s time to get involved.

So we want to do less, to achieve more.

But how...

Emily Fletcher is one of the world’s leading experts in Meditation. She has been invited to teach at Google, Harvard Business School, Summit Series, Viacom, Awesomeness Fest & Relativity Media. Emily began her ten years of training in meditation in Rishikesh, India under world-renowned instructors. She was inspired to share this practice with others after experiencing the profound physical and mental benefits it provided her during her career on Broadway, which is a story all in itself.

On today's Zestology podcast I have an inspirational and fun-loving guest who definitely enjoys the journey.

As well as being a celebrated yoga teacher, Meghan Currie is a bit of an inspirer extraordinaire, and also blogs to her army of followers about travel and putting raw food on your face! When we met she was in the UK, then when we did the interview she was in Bali, and now she's in Istanbul for a month. She is truly enjoying the journey, and not intent on arriving.

Slowing down and calming down to create more energy. It's almost like a contradiction in terms. But it works, and that's why meditation/trance/hypnosis/chillout time is so popular for people.

This week's Zestology podcast guest is fascinating, and contains some important themes. One is slowing down a bit to create a huge store of stamina and energy. Amen. We need to talk about this more. All of my audiobooks on iTunes have a similar theme using hypnosis and NLP skills to calm the mind, get into more of an Alpha State, and activate the parasympathetic nervous system. And with my cool guest - blogger, podcaster and Natural Health practitioner Beverley Meyer - I have a similar mind that we can really get going on this subject - slowing off and switching off for more energy and feeling great.

Beverley also specialises in the area of nutrition and we tackle some fun foody subjects too. We delve right in and get technical around how good coconut oil is to encourage you to burn fat for fuel (great if you want to tone up and get an energy boost from your food). Then things get a bit crazy, like for instance, have you ever put coconut oil in your tea? Or on your face? And in your food?

And if you haven't ever supplemented with Vitamin K2, you may want to after listening to this.

Did you know that taking a simple sauna twice a week could spark a complete change in your energy levels? (Hence the title of this blog.) This just one of the interesting, unusual and crazy ideas in today's Zestology Podcast.

Interested in making some small changes for big results? Listen/read on. My guest is someone with a wide amount of expertise in this area. Dr Izabella Wentz has written a hugely popular and well received book on Hashimotos. (Never heard of Hashimotos? It turns out that Hashimotos is really much more common than anyone thought so we look at that at the start of the show).

We also dive straight in general health improvements and yes, sauna therapy. We go into this into a bit of depth, including the uh, sauna incident that left Dr Wentz rather surprised and shocked.

And surprise surprise, it’s a regular theme, we look at nutrition and health and the role that has to play in your overall wellbeing and energy levels.

It’s one of those shows where we go deep, especially at the start, and I love that. There's some real depth in this podcast. I’m honoured to have a real expert in her field on, so let’s speak to Thyroid Pharmacist, Dr Izabella Wentz.

Today's Zestology guest is the host of a podcast that has taken the iTunes Podcast chart by storm. John Lee Dumas is the host of Entrepreneur On Fire, with over 1000 episodes in the bag and a huge amount of listeners.

Summer weekends are made for festivals, and how could a yoga fest be anything other than awesome? It was an absolute joy being out in the elements, busting out some very unbendy yoga moves and recording this episode of Zestology podcasts at Yoga Connects festival.

My guests in this podcast include yoga teachers Meghan Currie, Celest Pereira, Michael Wong (Boys of Yoga) and Charlotte Welfare. Other guests include RoxyRaRa and Ellie Positivitea, and of course yoga teacher, entrepreneur and festival organiser Sally Griffyn.

Today we’re looking at the caveman approach to a healthy heart, body and life with a guest who's got a great story to tell. We dig deep into gluten. What's the deal with gluten? What are the probs? Why are so many people giving it up? How can doing so improve our energy and wellbeing?

Also, if you suffer from Hay Fever, please do listen to today's episode. There are a whole load of natural methods for dealing with the streaming eyes, runny nose, and general stuffiness that Hay Fever brings on.

My guest is Dr Jack Wolfson, the author of the Paleo Cardiologist. He was a conventional cardiologist, a Director of Cardiac Rehabilitation and a very successful heart doctor. But deep down, he was perhaps unsatisfied until he met his future wife, who came from a very different background. I’ll let him tell the story in the podcast, but together they formed a new approach to heart health.

I’m pretty sure you’ve heard of Paleo, but just in case you’ve been living in the dark ages, (actually if you have you might know about Paleo) click here for the brief rundown.

When you listen you'll hear:

Living with more energy

What is the modern “good life” [6:38] The impact that pharmaceuticals have on your body and gut (it’s not pretty) [7:55] Why it’s important to get to the root cause of a health issue versus simply prescribing more medication [8:31] Why the foundation of any Paleo diet Pyramid should always be vegetables. [12:10] The American Food Pyramids is outdated and wrong.  What your daily diet should consist of instead [13:45]

Easy, everyday tips for vitality

A high quality multi-vitamin should be on everyone’s “to do list” whether you’re young or old. Be sure there are no artificial colors or flavors included! [27:20] Start your day with a green dehydrated vegetable powder to decrease inflammation and cardiac risk every morning [28:55] If you’re trying to introduce your kids to a Paleo lifestyle, try swapping out traditional treats with gluten-free and organic options instead. [34:11] Statins work (according to research paid for by pharmaceutical companies) but there are also harmful side effects that come with their usage. Find better options here. [19:50]

Finding motivation

Three great rules to live by are: gluten-free, organic, and soy-free. Here’s why [23:00] Here’s what gluten actually does to your body [25:00] “It’s hard to get a man to understand something, when his job depends on not understand it” [18:50] Go to sleep with the sun down and awake with the sunrise [37:00]

ANNOUNCEMENT: Today's Zestology is also exciting as we have some new music that is pretty awesome, from British DJs Above and Beyond. They are one of the world’s biggest DJ acts, absolutely huge all around the world, their biggest gig I think was 1 million people on Rio beach at Carnival time, and they are also great guys too. They very kindly have agreed to let me use one of their tracks as the new music for Zestology. Take a listen and let me know what you think of our new Above and Beyond music. And thanks again to A&B - awesome work!

There’s a new gadget that claims to improve your mental fitness. It’s a headset called Muse, that syncs up with the iphone to help you, apparently, begin feeling the benefits of a calmer, more composed mind.

It makes use of EEG technology that only a few years ago would have cost 1000s. Now it’s just around £300 ($450). And I’ve got one here...

I decided to test it out with my first repeat guest on Zestology podcast - definitely back by popular demand. Dr. Stephen Simpson is an Elite Performance Coach, medical doctor, and NLP expert who specialises in a fascinating field. He's developed the niche of helping poker players win more money. We chatted about poker in Zestology episode 2, today though I wanted to explore the topics of intuition, altered states, and how when we tap into these we can increase our energy and wellbeing. He’s the perfect person to do this with as you’ll hear.

In this podcast, we explore luck, intuition and altered states, and of course test out this new Muse headset gadget which is a lot of fun. Thank you Steve for being the guinea pig.

My personal development background is in NLP and related more to focusing on the mind. But I want Zestology to look at every area of our physical and mental health, and I know personally that when my digestion is good, I feel good. Likewise, when it's not, I feel sluggish and slow. I definitely have my ups and downs with digestion and gut health, hence today's show.

Today's Zestology Podcast guest is someone who goes by the name of The Digestion Detective. Sam Bearfoot runs a successful practice here in the UK, combining kinesiology, nutrition and a number of different areas of expertise. She also hosts the popular Digestion Detective podcast and is regularly featured in major health and lifestyle publications such as Health & Fitness magazine, Daily Mirror, Prima and Cosmopolitan.

She's a bit of a ledge. When you listen you'll hear:

Ever heard of biohacking? Today's guest has become famous for experimenting and attempting to improve every area of his health and wellbeing.

Luke Storey is well known as a stylist, appearing regularly on MTV and VH1 and working with top names like Kanye West, Marilyn Manson, Foo Fighters, Kim Kardashian and many more. But he's also a biohacker, experimenter, coach and he is now becoming as famous for this as for his styling work.

You won't agree with everything he says - I don't - but a lot of it is truly thought-provoking, and more than that, it's just great fun. Prepare to be a little bit shocked at how extreme Luke is, and laugh a lot too. When you listen you'll hear:

Drink water from as pure a source as possible. Not tap. Pop some sea salt in your morning glass of water. Supplements such as Unfair Advantage may help boost your mitochondria levels. It might hurt a bit, but take a cold bath/shower to supercharge your brain and get your circulation moving. Be careful where you put your cellphone, (Cellphone cooks eggs!), and don't sleep close to a wifi router.

Easy, everyday tips for vitality

Align yourself with the natural circadian and solar rhythms of the world by 'sungazing'. Put filters on your shower to block out vaporised chemicals from tap water. Drink bulletproof coffee. Eat more 'good fats' and less sugar.

Finding motivation

Start your day by avoiding social media. Look into starting the day with a morning meditation, and allow your mind to settle into a good place. Good morning routine means the stress response is more easily handled throughout the day. Prioritise your physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.

It turns out that some of the bright lights we have in our homes and on our devices late at night can impact the depth of our sleep, and our long-term health by suppressing our melatonin levels. Basically, our bodies respond to bright 'blue light' by thinking it's daylight.

Turns out the solution is the colour amber. Amber 'blue-blocking' specs, night lights and computer programs can all help us replenish our melatonin levels to get a much improved night's sleep.

I especially wanted to look into this further for the many parents I know whose night-times are disrupted by their little angels waking them up. Any parents reading this, I hope you listen today, because there is a specific section for parents getting better sleep. I'm joined in this show by a celebrated physicist, and definitely one of the most distinguished guests I've spoken to on Zestology.

Dr. Edward Carome led a long and distinguished career as a physicist. He was a professor of physics at John Carroll University. He’s consulted with industry and government agencies such as NASA, the FBI, and the National Institute of Health. He has been published widely in technical journals all over the world. And now, at 88 years old, he is still producing ground-breaking work on sleep, lighting, and melatonin production.

In fact Dr. Edward himself was a very light sleeper. He would always be woken up by his newspaper being delivered at 4.30am. He then started working on this research, and started using the blue-blocking glasses. The effect on his sleep was radical, and you'll hear the story in the podcast.

The pineal gland produces melatonin which is the 'sleep hormone'. Melatonin is one of the most powerful anti-oxidants and cancer fighters that we have. It's only produced in darkness, but these days, we don't spend enough time in darkness. The pineal gland is capable of producing melatonin for up to 12 hours a night, and you can tap into this ability by wearing blue-blocking glasses (or turning the lights out much earlier!)

Easy, everyday tips for vitality

Your smartphone contains a combination of LEDs that combine to produce a very white light. Shut your device off earlier in the evening to sleep deeper. Parents - get blue blocking glasses and 'amber' nightlights to maintain melatonin production overnight. You can even wear your blue-blocking glasses to the pub (though you might get a few comments).

Finding motivation

Keep your internal clock on a regular 24-hour cycle as much as possible for optimal health and melatonin levels. Take a leaf out of Dr. Edward's book and never retire!

Have you ever considered supplementing with turmeric, or vitamin D spray, or B12 injections, or, er, trying a coffee enema? Well, believe it or not, all of these alternative remedies could help you on your journey to energy, vitality and feeling awesome.

Today's Zestology podcast guest is Laura Bond. In March 2011 Laura Bond's mother Gemma was diagnosed with ovarian and uterine cancer. Laura discovered that the only thing more shocking than telling someone your mother has cancer was revealing that she had declined chemotherapy.

Laura is a health journalist and health coach, and she decided to write a book that would become hugely successful, 'Mum's Not Having Chemo'. It explains her mother's decision to say 'no' to mainstream medicine and 'yes' to hydrogen peroxide, vitamin C injections and infrared saunas.

Today's podcast doesn't have a particular focus on cancer, it's just for anyone who's interested in boosting their energy, vitality and health. It's informative, and I think ultimately uplifting. Laura's mother beat cancer the natural way, and the two of them have a great story to tell.

When you listen, you'll hear:
