The journey of motherhood has a special way of putting us through the "furnace of affliction," refining us, and revealing to us just how much we need Jesus. Join me (Ashley!) as I have a conversation with my friend Ashley Moss about the challenges she's seen and overcome in nearly 10 years of motherhood. She's got four boys, y'all, F-O-U-R. Kenneth Anderlitch is anything but common. His life story is a version of one you may have already heard, but his response to it is what lands him in this episode of the Uncommon People Podcast. Early experiences of abuse as a child gave way to drugs, alcohol, and homelessness as an adult. But Kenneth's story of perseverance is one that breaks through the cultural taboo surrounding child abuse, and provides strength and courage to others. The grit he displays in overcoming adversity was on full display when he set off on the 223 mile journey from Austin, TX to Corpus Christi, TX... on foot.
In this episode we discuss Ken's story, his admiration for ChildSafe, a child advocacy group in San Antonio, and his insanely long run that (at the time of this upload) has raised over $17,000 to combat child sexual abuse. Please visit road2healing.org to learn more about ChildSafe, and to donate to the cause. Tell them Kenneth Anderlitch sent you.
If you or someone you know is a victim of child physical or sexual abuse, please contact the authorities. Also, find your local advocacy group, and most importantly know that you are not alone.

If God told you to tell your story, how would you respond? With fear? Anxiety? Hesitation? For me (Aaron,) the severity of the story would dictate my response. For Jonathan Daugherty, his response was, "yes." Of course, it may have taken some convincing, but ultimately he set out across the world to tell his story of sexual addiction, lies, betrayal, redemption, restoration, and salvation. If that seems like a massive pendulum swing, just wait until you hear the full story. Jonathan is the founder of Be Broken Ministries, author of several books (which you can purchase at the link below,) and a nationally recognized speaker and teacher. Please listen and share this conversation with any and everyone you can. Thanks for listening!

For the most part, I avoid talking politics with people, but, I make exceptions with today's guest. My friend Demetrius Minor joins me by phone to talk faith, family, and politics. Waking up is relatively involuntary, but getting up... Why is it so difficult to get out of bed in the morning? It could be because we don't have a clear plan to help us accomplish that daunting feat, or maybe because we haven't put something of value in the starting position of our day. In this episode, Aaron and Ashley discuss waking up ON purpose, WITH purpose. Listen along as they discuss 5 tips for the act of waking up, and 5 tips to enrich your time in the morning (spoiler alert: the latter has to do with prayer and devotion time). We appreciate you listening and would love for you to subscribe or follow. Also, leave us a comment and a rating to let us know who or what you'd like to hear on the podcast in the future!
