Interrupting racism can be one of the most uncomfortable and daunting tasks we face, particularly when it involves confronting friends or loved ones. We're often caught in a dilemma between our desire to maintain harmonious relationships and our responsibility to challenge injustice. It's natural to worry about causing conflict or straining connections that are important to us.

Yet, remaining silent in the face of racism is not an option. When we fail to speak up against injustice, we inadvertently condone it, perpetuating the cycle of discrimination and inequality. Moreover, we miss an opportunity to educate, learn, and grow by avoiding difficult conversations.

Neurodiversity is particularly important when it comes to the workplace. Neurodiverse people bring unique perspectives, skills and abilities that can add value to any organization. In the modern workplace, it is increasingly important to recognize and appreciate neurodiversity. Neurodiversity is the term used to describe the wide range of different ways in which people think, learn and process information. But, on the other hand, if she isn't assertive enough, she's considered weak and a pushover, making it hard to get support within the organization. She Leads Media founder and women's entrepreneurial influencer Adrienne Garland (https://sheleadsmedia.com/) in this podcast, examines the common double standard, and identifies strategies to deal with it.

The term "quiet firing" is only a new name for an old idea. It happens when bosses no longer trust their employees' abilities to complete the task. It is hoped that the individual will "self-select out" rather than be given constructive criticism or the chance to learn new abilities. Rather than merely hoping their employees will leave, some managers treat them poorly in the hopes that they will.

While everyone is quick to identify overt racism—we post it on social media and read about it in the news—many of us ignore a more subtle kind of racism that is frequently camouflaged as a joke, a stereotype, or a subconscious judgment. Here are several indications that you may have accidentally engaged in "Everyday" racism:

You begin a statement with, "I'm not racist, although..."

Prefacing a potentially objectionable comment with "I'm not racist" has no ameliorative effect. Remember, when you feel the urge to begin a conversation with these four words: it isn't likely that anything positive will follow. #diversity #Racism #Inclusion #hr #humanresources

Today, most organizations comprehend why they should encourage diversity and inclusion, and they have a comprehensive plan to achieve this.

However, this doesn't imply that we should not take personal responsibility for creating more inclusive workplaces. In the end, our behaviors, attitudes, and mindsets influence the lives of others and shape both our workplace and society.

Yes, evidence demonstrates that our minds frequently make spontaneous decisions without awareness. Additionally, there is evidence that humans are subject to implicit bias. While we believe that rational explanations drive our conduct, unconscious brain activity affects our judgments and choices. Furthermore, this applies to personnel decisions.

How Can You Eliminate Bias In Recruitment

Every one of us is prejudiced in one way or another, consciously or unconsciously. And that's completely fine because we're all human, and we all have different viewpoints to bring to the table. However, if you're a hiring manager, being prejudiced can lower the chances of you hiring the best candidate for the job, which is why it's essential to be aware of any unconscious prejudices you might have. Imagine losing out on the next Steve Jobs by going on 'gut instinct' alone!

In today's episode, we explore the reasons behind the (unconscious) bias during the employment process, the conscious happenings that result in the discrimination, and how companies leave a valuable resource out on the table doing just that. Running a successful business is almost entirely about staying ahead in the game and outthinking the competitors – unbiased hiring and recruitment could help you achieve just that by unlocking a massive business gain.

Listen up to outsmart your competitors by shattering any prejudices in your company's employment process!

Episode Highlights:

● The various kinds of unconscious bias that (might) occur during the early phases of hiring – a candidate's likability, name, CV image, or birthplace. You might also favor someone you find comfortable socializing with outside of work.

â—Ź Often, a hiring manager's bias towards a candidate couldn't be explained well. It's a sense or a feeling people often find hard to articulate.

● The benefits of expanding beyond your traditional hiring methods and consciously removing biases when hiring – you get exposure to a greater, more diverse pool of talent, meaning you invite more creativity and success.

Discussing race in banking

View Details

In 2020, calls for racial and social justice and pressure on businesses to become more diverse, equitable, and inclusive were reinforced. As a result, many US firms expanded and launched new diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. However, a sizable proportion of US employees (22 percent), particularly racially and ethnically minority employees (up to 34 percent), believe that corporations have not done enough.

What are the best ways to measure diversity, equity and inclusion? >

This response indicates that, despite firms' attempts to eliminate racial and ethnic imbalances by publicly criticizing those inequities, vowing to improve workforce diversity, organizing staff training and conversations, and more, employees are not experiencing the full intended effects.

Is there any wonder diversity programs fail?

View Details

Regrettably, diversity resides in the impenetrable silos of human resources. Conceptually, diversity and especially inclusion are too large for silos. It is also too important to originality, to be limited by people, not policies, attempting to solidify their ranking in the hierarchy. Groupthink continues to permeate every team despite the constant barrage of new books on the subject, which, truthfully, no one has mastered. Because failure and mediocrity in terms of inclusion become unhinged at the personal level, and all things are personal.

As someone who has worked in the recruitment marketing industry for over five years, I have found that for inclusion and diversity initiatives to move forward, recruiters need more training and need to understand the experience of Black professionals and what makes them unique.

Recruiters are often the first point of contact between candidates and employers, and they often unknowingly act as gatekeepers for inclusion and diversity in the workplace.

The risks are high when employers research the ethics of their culture.
