Many people think those two things are in opposition to each other, but they're not! “Normal eating” - or as we like to call Confident Eating - is being able to have freedom AND flexibility with food while also being connected with your body + its needs. That’s not too much to expect from yourself, you CAN do it.

Today we’re talking about self-care. Many people neglect their own self-care because they misunderstand it to be selfish, so we want to take the opportunity to shift your mindset. If we neglect our own needs, we risk deep levels of unhappiness, low self-esteem, resentment, overwhelm, and burn out. Self-care makes you more effective + capable in your life. When you feel taken care of, there is an immeasurable, positive effect on those around you. In today’s episode, we’re giving you the 5 pillars of self-care and helping you see how essential self-care is in becoming more confident with food + your body.

For years, health professionals have tried to boil nutrition down to calories in and calories out, particularly when discussing concerns about weight. It seems appealing to make it that black and white, but is it an accurate theory?
In reality, it’s a gross oversimplification of nutrition, physiology, metabolism, and weight. There are far more variables in that equation, and today we’ll explain those variables and identify the drawbacks to the idea of calories in vs calories out.

Are you eating for health or are you eating for weight? Contrary to popular belief, they aren’t the same thing. They get totally entangled because of diet culture, and in order for you to eat in a way that honors your health and shows respect to your body, it’s vital that you untangle them. That’s what we’ll help you do in this episode!
Diets DON’T care about your health. In fact, dieting prioritizes numbers and rule-following over well-being. Dieting is all about manipulation, and it has hijacked “healthy eating”. We need to reclaim healthy eating, and we’ll help you learn how to find health without focusing on weight.

We are honored to have Dr. Jennifer Finlayson-Fife back on the podcast! Today we're discussing how to strengthen your marriage relationship by healing your body image + improving your sense of self-worth.
We work with many women to help them overcome disordered eating patterns + negative body image. We get questions from these women who worry about their changing body and their husband's opinion of their body. They may feel shame that their body doesn't measure up to what they think their husband wants, or they allow their negative body image to interfere with their ability to have an equal partnership in marriage.
All of us have been sold the cultural lie that bodies shouldn’t change or that they should look a certain way, and it's easy to feel shame when we don’t fit that ideal.
But we know that it's totally possible to build a mature and positive relationship with your body, regardless of your weight, size, or appearance.
We want to help you respect + care for their body no matter your size, but we know that those efforts are often undermined if you’re in an intimate relationship where you’re made to feel bad about your appearance or size.
Dr. Finlayson-Fife offers her perspective on how a woman’s relationship with her body influences her intimate relationship, how to set healthy boundaries in a marriage, and how to empower yourself as an equal partner in your marriage by healing your relationship with your body.
Learn more about Dr. Finlayson-Fife, her courses, and her workshops on her website at finlayson-fife.com.
