Carlos Martinez was the founder and Conductor/Music Director of Operafest of New Hampshirebased in Concord, NH with numerous successes and performances to thousands of audience members. Shir Lerman Ginzburg, PhD, MPH is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Public Health Sciences at UConn Health. Her research interests currently focus on environmental health and justice among underserved communities near busy roadways. She is trained as a medical anthropologist and public health professional, and has conducted research in syndemics, chronic illness, mental health, obesity, diabetes, mindfulness, the Zika Virus, and Puerto Rico. She received her PhD in medical anthropology from the University of Connecticut, where she identified a new syndemic in Puerto Rico: the OVIDD Syndemic (Obesity, structural Violence, political Instability, Diabetes, and Depression). She completed her NIH-funded fellowship in implementation science at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, where she studied the correlation between mindfulness and mental health outcomes among underserved communities in the greater Boston area. She has coedited three books, Foundations of BioSocial Health: Stigma and Illness Interactions; StigmaSyndemics: New Directions in BioSocial Health;and Gender, Health, and Society in Contemporary Latin America and the Caribbean. She has also published research articles in journals such as Medical Anthropology, Journal of Public Health, Transcultural Psychiatry, Medical Anthropology Theory, and PLOS One.

Born and raised in Peru in a multicultural family of Peruvian and Japanese ancestry provided me an intoxicating fusion of cultures and cuisines, and fermented a yearning to experience first-hand how historical and cultural influences manifest themselves in the local cuisine.
Aboard it’s a Small World ride in Disney World, my dream to travel took hold as I told my Mother I planned on visiting every single one of the countries on that ride. A rather defiant declaration of exploration at age 6, but with 59 countries and counting I think I can say I keep my promise.
When I’m not on the road, I’m crafting amazing itineraries for family and friends. My travel passion, adventurous soul and foodie bug have led me to seek unique experiences across the globe whether it’s being suspended in a capsule at 1,300 ft. overlooking the Inca’s Sacred Valley; sipping champagne and watching the sunrise at Angor Wat; sleeping in a Bedouin tent in the middle of Wadi Rum; fishing piranhas in the Amazon river or eating the lethal fugu in Japan.
My MBA from Rice University combined with my 10+ years of experience in the oil & gas industry have provided me the foundational skills in logistics to seek creative solutions to planning and problem solving, and the necessary eye to detail to ensure even the most minute detail is not overlooked.

Tina has been involved with print media since college where she interned at The Boston Globe, and was instantly drawn to the excitement of working in a newsroom. Currently, she is a Media Coordinator for Somerville Community Center (formerly SCATV) where she also produces and hosts shows which features multiculturalism and social issues.
