Most of us don't feel peace in our lives. Isaiah 9 prophesies the coming of Jesus, the Messiah, the shattering of the yoke of sin, and the coming of a new kingdom. God has invited each of us to be citizens of His kingdom of peace.

This week we will dive into who God speaks to, how to hear God's voice and how we can respond to other people hearing God's voice. Samuel has been serving the Lord for nine years and still doesn't know Him. While the high priest Eli has been serving God's people for 30 years in the same temple as Samuel, God appears to Samuel and speaks to him in person. Why would God choose to speak to Samuel?

This week we’re starting a new sermon series in 1 Samuel, a book written in a time when “everyone did what was right in their own eyes.” This Sunday we will look at Samuel's origin story and how we share many commonalities and struggles with his mom Hannah. You'll see how Hannah's faithfulness changes the direction of a nation and how we can lend the gifts we have been given from the Lord to impact those around us.

“How are you doing? Good.” -- A conversation we have all had today and everyday. We live in a culture where people really don’t want to know when we are experiencing deep sadness or loss. How does God respond to us when we are experiencing grief? How do we grieve as believers in Jesus?
Honor and humility open the door for God to move in ways that go beyond what we can imagine. In a world of soundbites that value hot takes, God calls this generation to choose honor and humility over cynicism and pride.

The culture of this world impacts our thoughts, decisions, and actions on a daily basis. We are to be shaped by God's Kingdom and its culture. The world says that satisfaction can come through more: more money, more relationships, more experiences. God's Kingdom says that true satisfaction ONLY comes through abiding in Him: His word, His heart, His presence.
