In this episode, I'm talking about wealth and the importance of speed.

Myron Golden, a well-known speaker, said once, "If you want to create wealth in your business and for you and your family, you have to increase the rate at which you generate revenue. You have to increase the SPEED at which you generate profits."

That sounds great. But how do we actually add speed?

One of my favorite parts of Facebook is the “Memories” feature.

This past week, Facebook just showed my memories from August 7th, 2014.

That was the day me and my two business partners launched our first business together, Binary Trade Group. It was a monthly membership product where we provided a community, training and analysis to help day traders on a trading website called Nadex.

I was super scared that day. My stomach was in knots. Yes, I was scared but also crazy excited. There’s nothing like the thrill of launching a new business or products.

In 2014, I had ZERO online business experience or marketing knowledge. All I knew to do was put out the highest value content on YouTube/Facebook every day and hope it got seen.

Our first full year in 2015, we crossed $100,000 in sales and in 2019, we hit $1,000,000 in total sales in less than 5 years. In the online business world we call that the “Two Comma Club”. This should be your short-term goal.

Today, I’m sharing with you one of the greatest tips I can give a creator and the reason why we succeeded.

In 2013, Austin was working an IT job for the state of Kansas and he had a lightbulb moment. He realized he could do this job for other small businesses as an independent contractor. So on the side, Austin started Abbott Unlimited and was quickly gaining several clients where he would build websites and manage their backend IT security. Eventually, he got so busy he quit his state job, cashed out his 401(k), ended up hiring 30 employees, and never looked back.

And now just recently, with the success of Abbott Unlimited, he went out and bought the number one marketing agency in the city of Topeka, Bajillion, where he is now the CEO, he also bought a video production company called Motovike Films AND started a private lending business with one of his best friends. O, and he's been with his wife for 15 years and he's raising a 3-year-old and 1-year-old and in his spare time runs a sprawling ranch in the countryside of Kansas.

My hope for you is that Austin's story inspires you to think about how you can turn your job and the skills you have into a business and how you can grow your existing business through acquisitions.

If you weren’t a fan of Kobe on the court or don’t follow basketball, I want you to know that Kobe, the man off the court, was an incredibly gifted individual.

If you didn’t know much about him, Kobe after retiring from the NBA moved on to start Granity Studios, a multimedia company which focused on creating fiction stories centered on sports.

The life lesson I want you to learn from Kobe is....

There’s a quote I saw on Instagram a while back that I really liked. It was, “There is no such thing as business problems. There are only personal problems that are showing up in your business.”

This statement has resonated with me more and more this year. Being an entrepreneur, a creator, the driver of your own business is hands down the greatest personal development program on the planet.

In this episode, I share why it's so important to continually self-develop yourself and two activities I do nearly every day to keep personally growing as an entrepreneur.

I wish this was something I would have learned earlier on, like high school or college. All of my academic years were spent trying to increase my IQ. Reading and memorizing facts in textbooks. I got nearly straight A’s all through school and was naïve thinking because of this I was destined for success. And I couldn’t have been more wrong.

If you’re around my age or younger than I’m sure you can relate. Going from college into the real world is a wake up call. I wish I would have learned more about communication and persuasion. I wished I knew how to control self-doubt. I wish I would have learned how to have more confidence. I wish I would have been offered a class on Insecurity 101 or Procrastination 101 or better yet, Stress & Overwhelm 101.

And I can’t blame the colleges, it’s not their fault. You know, there really isn’t anyone to blame. I’m just taking this wisdom and passing it on to my two daughters and you if you’re a parent with young children, and I am going to focus heavily on teaching them EQ skills in junior high and high school.

I use the mindfulness app Calm and I will make them use daily as well. Just like brushing their teeth. I also use an app called Intellect, which provides learning sessions on habits and behaviors. Very cool app and free. Check it out.

I definitely won’t be so obsessed with my kids’ academics. I will be more focused on their communication skills and how well do they handle pressure. Because now I know, EQ training will set them up for genuine success, not memorizing facts in a book.

I was recently listening to a top business coach, and he said something about failure that I really loved. He said he tries to get his coaching clients to look at failure as “cycles”.

Basically, how he said it is every time an entrepreneur has a business that failed, it was just a typical “cycle” of the entrepreneur journey.

And what resonated with me is he said he doesn’t take any coaching clients until they have “cycled” at least twice.

I’ve never heard it been said like that.

I absolutely loved how he put it.

He didn’t say, “A prospective coaching client has to have 2 failed businesses and then I’ll work with them,”.

Instead, he said, “a prospective coaching client must have gone through at least two cycles before I consider working with them.”

He explained that he wants his clients to have already experienced some failure. He knows that if they’ve had two businesses fail and they are still at it, positive, upbeat, good attitude….then they have the X-Factor to achieve success.

So a good takeaway is understand that having a business that failed or is failing, It’s just a normal “cycle” of entrepreneurship. Get up. Dust off. Take the experience and skills with you to the next venture and keep “cycling” until it finally hits!

For the past couple of years, I’ve been devouring any and all goal setting, high performance, and productivity content. The reason being is I hit a wall in my goal setting and I need better direction and how to effectively design and achieve my ambitious goals.

You think about it, we’re not taught this stuff in school nor college. If you want to live a high-achieving life you pretty much have to figure out this goal-setting stuff Hard Knocks style. (Which even though I do have a degree I consider all my knowledge to be from the School of Hard Knox.)

From all this research I have done I found two big reasons why most people fail at their goals. And by no means is this the ONLY two...there’s dozens of reasons...but, I thought these two were good to share as you may not be aware of them and now you will be going into 2020 and beyond.

Here's to a BREAKTHROUGH Year!
