Oh hello, look who it is! After an unplanned four year hiatus, your two favourite (now fringe-less) grandmas are back, and we have A LOT to catch you up on. Strap in.
The new season kicks off with a mammoth edition of Telly Talk, where we pick our favourite TV and films from the past 4 years. Easy, right!? We also welcome in two shiny new features, dip our hands into the bulging postbag, and tease what you can expect to hear over the next few months.
As you know, we love to hear from you! Send us your thoughts, feelings and any neighbourhood gossip to thefringeofit@gmail.com.
Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
With a week of Covid confusion, we are back with some (hilarious) Quarantales (from screaming neighbours to Blackbird Omens), a follow up of that Normal People conversation, a conversation about '90s films (and if we can get past some problematic aspects) as well as discussing the important topic of... are fringe trims the new foreplay? Plus THE DISCOVERY OF SAUSAGE ROLLS (kind of).

This week self isolation finally kicks in, and we had to avoid not renaming the podcast 'The Cheek of It'. All grumbles aside, we're thrown into Easter weekend nattering (and June's over-indulgent egg hunt), our new favourite (and least favourite) rom-coms, Michael NOT Martin Sheen, the great pickle shortage of 2020, Charlotte's new crafting passion and a very special Betty Magazine charity relaunch. Thank you so much for tuning in, and as always- we hope you're staying safe and looking after each other.

Shopping and Fridge fantasy special. We go through everything we've been buying or putting on our wish lists the last few weeks. We also talk baout the products we cannot live without in our fridges and Charlotte reveals her Butter hoarding. Liv tells a story of a made from scratch pizza that didn't end very well, Charlotte gets confused by the name of a very popular computer game and of course we've been watching in lock down in Telly Talk. Hope you are all staying safe and staying at home. Until next week.

This week the podcast comes from a self-isolating Liv in London and a kind of isolated Charlotte in the
French countryside. We cover things to do while self-isolating at home (we got this!), ways to keep yourself from
becoming overwhelmed by the news with of course lots of Telly Talk. Highlights include
yet another conversation about Love is Blind, First Dates being back and Bake Off SU2C. We hope you are all safe
and well, and looking after each other. Sending so much love to everyone!

This week is our 50th Episode! This week we have our usual storm watch with Liv half hoping we get to storm Olivia and the usual Telly Talk. Highlights include: Booksmart, The Trial of Christine Keeler and both of us have some odd discoveries, from the Icelandic Eurovision entry to Julian Simmons introducing Coronation Street back in 1998. Our main topic this week is books, we go through everything we have been reading (and not finishing it Liv’s case) in the last 6 months. We are back, a day late (technical issue), with a new episode. On the eve of Liv's launch for her debut book 'The Insecure Girl's Handbook' Charlotte interview's her about all things book related. Just exactly how do you get a book deal, how do you deal with rejection, once you've secured the deal how on earth do you even begin writing a book?! TELL ME EVERYTHING. Liv would just like to point out that it was not her idea to interview herself on her own podcast but Charlotte thinks it's an excellent idea. We also discuss a new favourite bake, Telly Chat and the importance of a cry in the bath:

After seven months away we are back, with a bang or not is for you to decide. This episode we catch you up on everything we have been watching since we’ve been away....warning it's a lot. We take you through all the great TV we’ve seen with highlights including The Marvellous Mrs Maisel, Sex Education and we find out what each of our comfort blanket shows are. Liv even gets her Love Island minute, sort of. We also discuss all the great films we've been watching too, including our forever favourite Paddington 2, Marriage Story and we have a discussion which reaches peak shrill levels about Blinded by the Light, a jukebox musical featuring the music of Bruce Springsteen. PHEW, IT IS GOOD TO BE BACK!

Let's go back in time to 8 days before the wedding, and see how the nerves are holding up and Liv also has a big announcement to make! We catch up about Liv's hen do too, and a we discuss how much we love the seaside town of Deal in Kent. In Telly Talk we discuss First Dates, with the worst 'datee' Charlotte's seen on the show, we briefly discuss the ongoing football taking over the TV, and the question we all want to know the answer too: has Charlotte started Fleabag yet?! We briefly discuss alcohol, hangovers and the book called 'The Unexpected Joy of Being Sober' and our latest clothing purchases. We'll be taking a short break but will be back very soon!

Firstly WE ARE SORRY THIS IS SO LATE (Charlotte actually uploaded this a week ago but didn't press publish, we're sacking her). In this almost outdated catch up we rate our favourite Easter treats, June's blow drying ritual and the month countdown for Liv's wedding is now upon us. In Telly Talk we discuss GOT, the new Marvel film (we've watched neither), First Dates and Wild Rose. Liv's been reading some books and we've both been shopping the Shrimps for Warehouse collaboration.

This episode we really get stuck into the fine art of afternoon tea, and name our favourite places to visit for the fine British classic. We also discuss our favourite TV shows of the week, alongside a brief trip to Brighton and a few days in the Lake District. Joining us this week, is the very informative Genevieve Richardson. Genevieve is currently on an internship at Parliament, and works closely with Catherine West (Labour, Hornsey & Wood Green). We discuss the basics of politics, unpick common phrases you might've heard during Brexit but have no idea what they mean, and how to get more involved in politics on an everyday basis.

In this episode we interview the world's one and only comparison coach, Lucy Sheridan. In her own words, Lucy says: 'Screw comparison! Be less ‘them’ & more you.' We talk about life online / surveillance culture, how to use comparison as a tool for positive change and ways to talk to yourself like you would a good friend. Lucy was a really generous guest, and we hope you love listening to this episode as we did recording it. As well as our special guest, we also get through a lot of Telly Talk, Charlotte's finally finished This is Us, Liv is thrilled as The Bachelor comes to the UK and we both discuss the start of the new season of Queer Eye.

We have no idea what number episode this is, we think it’s our second 39th episode…apologies for getting it wrong last week. This episode sees us have a good old chat about all kinds of different things including vaginas and vulvas, cancelling on friends (when is it ok and when is it not?) and the good old fashion telephone call. We’re back! We took a longer break than planned over Christmas and the New Year but are now ready to go. This week we have a unofficial guest, our friend Carrie (Wish Wish Wish), which we think adds rather a nice dimension to our real life girls night when we recorded. We talk about A LOT of TV, last count was 15 different shows and films...it’s safe to say we’ve been been making the most of the hibernation season. We discuss everything from Mary Poppins Returns, Torvil & Dean and then question the latest Ted Bundy Netflix offering and question whether a platform should be given to the same people and crimes. The only way to describe our guest on this episode and the journey that life has taken her on, is a Phoenix rising from the ashes. Syreeta Challinger and her husband Rob are the duo behind MOSS: Moments of Sense of Style which is a business that has the most incredible story. The pair met in Hong Kong, and whilst on holiday in 2014 in Australia Rob suffered a brain haemorrhage and stroke. In their words 'The brand was born from a desire to create light out of the darkness; an innovative and conceptual approach to dealing with life changing events'. They produce the most beautiful products, and each product is integral to their story, lovingly and proudly made in England. We discuss starting again, learning to slow down and soul searching when it comes to identity and your purpose in life. This episode is a really heavy one, in the best way possible, thank you Syreeta for being so open and vulnerable in sharing your story. On the flip side we really dedicate too much time to discussing Christmas adverts, gold cutlery and eBay wins!

In this episode we discuss getting our periods, our new favourite TV favourites, including 'Trust, The House Of Getty', The Circle, Killing Eve and of course GBBO where we put Liv's spelling to the test. Shopping wise Charlotte's been hitting the make-up counters and Liv discusses the revival of the Cowboy boot and her style icon Steve Coogan. In this week's discussion we talk about influencers and what responsibility you have when living your life online. Where do you draw the line when it comes to sharing, do you have to bare your soul to have a genuine connection to your audience? So many questions, and so many uses of the word interesting to note too.

Episode twenty six this series is a special one for us, as this season it marks the first with a very special guest- with our first being none other than the wonderful Gina Martin. Discussing everything from activism, changing the law and even knowing where to begin- we talk about everything from the House of Lords to As Seen On Screen, with some serious inspiration thrown in for good measure. Naturally, there's also extensive GBBO talk, with a sprinkling of wedding chatter and orangutan thrown in for good measure.

We are BACK! After nearly a month off, here we are with season two. This episode is a big old catch up of what we have been up to over the summer, including Planes, Trains and Automobiles. There's the familiar shopping chat, Liv's made a big purchase and Charlotte has been suit shopping. In Telly Talk, we get stuck into the new series of the GBBO and the show on everyone's lips: Bodyguard. Plus our new section 'Fridge Fantasy' is dedicated to discussing our favourite foodie delights of the week. We hope you enjoy!
Links to come.
This episode of The Fringe Of It is brought to you by Origins, and was recorded in front of a live audience at The Hoxton, Holborn on Wednesday 8th of August. Liv took Charlotte to see Mamma Mia 2 kicking and screaming, but what did she think of it? Also Autumn Winter dressing is on the horizon and we discuss the finer (and the jumbo) details of our favourite cord suits. The discussion this week is all about being 'Your Own Best Friend'. As we started the podcast on the note of friendship, we thought the season finale should look at ways that you can be your own cheerleader, and there are lots of helpful tips from the audience. We'd like to thank you for all your support over the past four months, we really love every single one of you for making it what it is. As always join in the fun in the Facebook group, and we'll be back in your ears on the 10th of September for season two.
In the meantime Origins are kindly offering all The Fringe Of It listeners an exclusive 15% off discount code to use at Origins.co.uk. Enter the code FRINGE15 at the checkout for 15% off any Origins product with a minimum spend of £15.
Offer valid from 08/08/2018 until 05/09/18 at 11.59pm.

Firstly, a huge apology for the delay in sharing the episode this week- due to unforeseen circumstances it's a week delayed, so all references to our live event are now outdated (with out final episode also up this week)!
It's the penultimate episode of series one of The Fringe of It, and this week we're reflecting over the last 23 weeks and revisiting some of our favourite episodes- from body image, friendship and comparison. We talk about why we began the podcast and some of our biggest lessons from the last few months. Naturally, we also squeeze in a chat about some new watches, including The Incredibles 2, and I continue to work on converting Charlotte to love Mamma Mia. Some things never change...
Just to let you know, we briefly talk about suicide (15:35) and racism in this episode (31:44).
This week we have a long catch up, firstly starting with the weather because would we be British if we didn’t? In Telly Talk it’s the penultimate of Liv’s ‘Love Island Minute’ - Liv also discusses Mamma Mia 2, Disney’s Coco and Christopher Robin. Meanwhile Charlotte’s been watching Anthony Bourdain’s back catalogue, continuing with Dietland, and is now Ladygaga’s number fan after watching her documentary Five Foot Two. Alongside TV, we discuss the book ‘Why I am No Longer Talking to White People About Race’ by Reni Eddo-Lodge.
In shopping we learn what dream Gucci item Liv is lusting over, and Charlotte’s new favourite cheese (you really get it all on this podcast). Alongside this we discuss visiting Sheffield, going pescatarian for a week and a few of our favourite new apps.

This week's episode was recorded on Thursday 19th of July in partnership with Fresh on Marylebone High Street in front of an audience of 25(ish) people. In Telly Talk Charlotte gets confused between the new Queen film trailer and the released press shot of Olivia Coleman in the Crown, happens to the best of us. She also tries to explain Dietland, might have to wait until next week for a more through explanation. Liv gives us a run down on the most talked about show of the summer in her 'Love Island Minute'. We discuss our favourite Monki buys, the comeback of Reebok Classic and the book This is Going to Hurt. This week's topic discusses relaxation and ways in which we switch off, and we answer a few questions from the audience.

This week's episode is a long one! Shopping wise we find out what Liv's been buying at Sezane, what floral purchases Charlotte has been picking up. In TV we discuss the season two of GLOW on Netflix, continue talking about the The World Cup where we applaud Gareth Southgate's Positive Mental Attitude, and we also look at some of the social issues around football. Are elements of it sexist and homophobic? In this week's topic we get stuck into the gigantic topic of money, and why is it such a taboo? Talking about some money mistakes, money mangement, and some money resources we enjoy. However we feel we've barley scratched the surface, so expect a money follow up!

This week's episode comes to you down the line and is a bit of a deep ol' episode (for us anyway)! In telly chat we discuss the fact we are now fully established football fans (cough), with your 60 second weekly Love Island update too, for good measure. We also discuss body confidence in summer, having a bad week and this weeks topic: going on holiday and the pressure of travel. We talk about our favourite holidays, how travel has changed because of the 'Instagram Generation' and why it's important to allow yourself to have a break. As always, come and join the fun in the Fringe of It Facebook group too! See you next week.
