Faith will be required!

In this episode, we discussed the following:
You can also find his book called "The Burning of America" on Amazon. https://a.co/d/0yoXN0Q Below is a description of it.
This fictional account exposes the dark underbelly of the custody industry in American villages. Children are treated like footballs and are simply kicked from place to place, parental rights are routinely violated, often with one parent who is considered no more than a paycheck, and the custody enterprise of judges, lawyers, and counselors profit from the displacement and misery of children. The novel punches hard in the gut and does not let up until the untimely and tragic climax. Paul Theus is a respectable middle-class professor until his peaceful world is shattered as we find out from the first line: "No parent prepares for a child to be taken." Beware of strangers and watch out for the big bad wolf kids are told but what if a family unit is smoldered from within by a mother? Paul found the note that his wife was leaving for awhile tucked in a book about the Jon Bonet Ramsey child murder. The Bohemian mother Anne Theus inflames the threat posed by the idea that it takes the village court to raise a child. Do the courts really act in the best interest of the children? Parents plan for their children's home, school, clothes, food, and happiness but once the Theus' five-year daughter is kidnapped we are barraged by conflict for over three years until the terminal end. Is the terminal ending tragic or the only possible resolution to the conflict? You decide.

I had a great conversation with Coach Lee Forrester. You will be inspired listening to Lee and her journey to health. Something that really stood out to me was her excitement about life and getting better. In this conversation, we discuss:
As a child Lee felt invisible and insignificant and found being overweight an additional struggle. Self image issues stemming from childhood can hold a person from personal and work life success.
Now that Lee has found healthier ways to eat well and be well, she now uses that experience to guide others who also battle with unwanted weight particularly women in their 40's and 50's to a place where they feel in charge and in control of their bodies while gaining confidence so they can show up fully in life and professionally while getting into their best health ever.
Lee is best known for her common sense holistic approach to good food, and health while finding a way to move (exercise if you will)so that you can have the confidence you crave. Take it from Lee, who knows that if the chubby girl who hated PE and came almost last in any track event can support you on your feel amazing path to health and fitness

You might be wondering how the CIA and the Bible are connected!
Be prepared to go a journey. I was recently in Richmond Virginia preaching at the Courthouse Church of Christ. I had the opportunity to visit Washington D.C. with my friend Nathan Morrison. Nathan preaches at the Courthouse Church of Christ and is also one of the elders.
He shared with me the story of Hushai the Archite in the Old Testament. The CIA has known for a long time about Hushai and how he helped King David defeat Absalom. The CIA describes Hushai as the first Influence Agent. The CIA declassified how they broke down the story of Hushai and used it to train their agents to be influence agents. Find out the significance of all of this in this episode.
You can find where Nathan preaches in the link below and also the declassified PDF document the CIA released as well!

How were men and women in the first century Converted to Christ?
The book of Acts in the Bible gives us plenty of examples of what Conversion to Christ looks like.
The story of the apostle Paul and his conversion is mentioned three times in Acts chapters 9, 22, and 26.
There's a lot for us to learn how one is converted to Christ and what happens after their conversion.
Get your Bible ready and let's study together from the book of Acts.

This sermon was preached in January. At the beginning, I mention "a couple of weeks ago" referring to the Monday Night Football game that made America stop and pray.
How are you with praying? Do you find it challenging? Is it something you do on a regular basis?
Pray is essential! We have countless examples of people who prayed in the Bible.
Let's see what we can learn from them.

Life moves very fast. How we live matters.
We are reminded in the Bible that we have one life to live.
How has 2023 been going for you? We are at the end of the first quarter.
This is always a great time to reevaluate the direction we're headed.
In this sermon, I consider what Jesus has to say about how we should live our lives. I also discuss false doctrines we need to be aware, fantasy, and fiction that can get in the way of this one life to live.

Sacrifice is required when it comes to being a Christian.
Many times we can start strong, but fail to finish what we have begun. Jesus tells us why this happens and what we can do to avoid it.
This was originally preached at the beginning of 2022. I was convicted listening to myself. The year is almost over, but there is still time to finish what we began to build.

Whenever we read from the Holy Scriptures, we should be seeking to learn something about God!
It was Pharaoh in Exodus 5:2 who asked the question "Who is the LORD that I should obey His voice to let Israel go?" A lot of people ask, "Who is the LORD?" The Psalms help us to see who God is. In this Podcast Episode, we go through Psalm 95-Psalm 97. We will read each of these Psalms and then ask, "What can we learn about God?" Then we will see how we should respond to Him. God Is...Therefore I Will!

In Matthew 25:34-40 it says,
“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
You Did It Me.
In this sermon, I discuss how this statement should change our thinking when it comes to sin, suffering, work, and our worship.
In all we do, we are doing it unto the Lord. Therefore everything we do matters.

In this episode, I share something I learned during a lunch I had with a physician. As we think about moving Beyond the Scale, it's important to have the proper mindset. Part of this mindset is viewing Exercise the proper way! Exercise is a blessing. There are numerous health benefits. As I get older, I believe we should view Exercise like taking a daily pill. It's something we need in some shape or form everyday. Yet, sadly it's a medicine that many don't want to take! What about you? Let's keep moving Beyond the Scale and enjoy a daily dose of exercise.

It's sunny today where I live in Texas. Except for a few patches of snow, one would not know we just experienced a major storm. I'm calling it the Texas Winter Storm of 2021. It's easy and tempting to just continue on with life like nothing has happened. But there's danger doing that. Part of having an I Can Do mindset is being sure we address and acknowledge things the proper way. I discuss that in this episode.

In the book of Daniel in the Bible, we read about a young man who had made up his mind! As a result, he remained faithful to God under difficult circumstances. We need to make our minds. When we know our "Why" and know who we "Serve" and where we are headed, it becomes so much easier to navigate difficult days and situations. Is your mind made up? Today is the day to make up your mind! Watch what happens when you do.

Wherever you may find yourself in life, it will be important to keep moving forward. That's easier said than done, right? In Jeremiah chapter 29, the Israelites found themselves in captivity. As exiles in a foreign land, they would have to make a choice. Do nothing or keep moving forward. Give up on God or trust in Him. It feels like we're in a foreign land with what's happening in 2020. Maybe you have lost your job. Maybe you've lost some of your possessions. Maybe you have lost a whole lot more. As hard as it is, we must keep moving forward. Our trust must be in God as we navigate these difficult days.

In life, it can be easy to stay in the shallow end where it is safe, predictable, and low risk. But to truly growth, we will have to dive into the deep. That's often scary, but well worth it.
