These Alabama boys are a feisty bunch, never the less we will be ready for battle once it comes. I will sum up mid-week for you in this letter. Men have signed up in rows, they are you to shoot up the Yanks and have some good old fashioned F-U-N. I believe the energy of our forces will be an advantage. As well as the skill level of our Generals, Captains, etc. We had to hang one man this morning. His name was Robert Kelles. Age 37. Height, about 6'1. He killed two officers in their sleep. But you be pleased to know we have hung him. I hope we get into battle soon sir. My men are getting pretty antsy. But, as I know, good things come to those who wait. I must tell myself that every day as I tell my men that. Good speaking to you Mr. President. God bless you!
