Episode 63 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Head Golf Coach Andrea Wieland, who is in her sixth year at the helm of the program. Wieland, a two-time Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, has led the Warhawks to five straight conference titles and four trips to the NCAA Championship.
During the 50th anniversary year of the enactment of Title IX, Wieland discusses her career playing golf, including as a youth player and as a scholarship student-athlete at the University of Wisconsin, the growth of college women’s golf in the United States, coaching her team and some of the trailblazers who have allowed her to have a 30-plus year career playing and coaching golf.
Episode 62 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a roundtable conversation with UW-Whitewater student-athletes Zach Campbell, Brian Conaghan, Morgan McEntire and Abby Thompson, who are each members of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). Thompson is a member of the women’s swimming and diving team and the SAAC president, and McEntire is a member of the gymnastics team and the SAAC vice president. Conaghan is the SAAC treasurer, and Campbell is a senior representative from the baseball team.
The group discusses the role of SAAC on campus as well as what they enjoy about being a Division III student-athlete during the NCAA’s annual Division III Week, which observes and celebrates the impact of athletics and student-athletes on each campus and surrounding community. Each participant on the roundtable also tells us their favorite #whyd3 moment as student-athletes.
Episode 61 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes conversations with Head Women’s Basketball Coach Keri Carollo and Head Men’s Basketball Coach Pat Miller to preview the upcoming 2021-22 season.
Carollo, who also serves as Senior Woman Administrator and Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance, has led the Warhawks to six Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships, two conference tournament titles and 12 NCAA Tournament appearances, including three trips to the Final Four (2008, 2013, 2014). She begins her 20th season as head coach this winter.
Miller, who is in his 21st year as head coach, has guided UW-Whitewater to six WIAC regular season championships, four conference tournament titles and nine NCAA Tournament bids, including national championships in 2012 and 2014. He entered the 2020-21 season ranked fourth all time in winning percentage among coaches with a minimum of 10 seasons coaching at the NCAA Division III level and fifth among active Division III coaches.
Episode 60 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes conversations with former UW-Whitewater cross country and track and field student-athletes Dawson Miller (2011-15) and Amanda (Brom) Moehling (2011-15). Both discussed the coaching career of head cross country coach and assistant track and field coach Jeff Miller, who enters his 40th season coaching the men’s cross country team and 38th coaching the women’s team. Miller and Moehling talked about Coach Miller’s ability to coach at a high level for nearly four decades, what makes him such a good coach, and their favorite memories in working with him.
Dawson Miller, who is the son of Jeff Miller, was a six-time All-American in track and field, including the 2015 NCAA Division III national champion in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 2015, and was a 10-time All-WIAC honoree, including three straight conference titles in the steeplechase. UW-Whitewater recorded six top-10 national finishes during his tenure, including a third-place finish at the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Championship. In cross country, Dawson garnered all-conference and all-region accolades and was a national qualifier as a senior in 2014. He was named a UW-Whitewater Chancellor’s Scholar-Athlete and earned a spot on the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll in each of his four years. Dawson graduated in 2015 with a degree in finance, and earned his MBA from UW-Whitewater in 2017. He served in various capacities on the cross country and track and field staffs following graduation.
Moehling was a six-time national qualifier in track and field competing in the 800-meter run, and was an All-American in the event in 2014 thanks to a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships. She finished among the top five in the 800-meter run at all eight of her WIAC Championship meets, including six All-WIAC finishes. In cross country, Amanda was a four-year top-four runner on the team, and her personal best time of 23 minutes, 30 seconds in the 6-kilometer race ranks among the top 25 in program history. She was named a UW-Whitewater Chancellor’s Scholar-Athlete and earned a spot on the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll in each of her four years. Amanda graduated in 2015 with a degree in physical education with emphasis in health and human performance. She has served as an assistant coach for the cross country programs since 2018.
Episode 59 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Stephanie (DesJardins) Schuck, who competed for the UW-Whitewater women’s soccer team from 2006-2009. During her tenure at UW-W, Schuck was a four-year starter, compiling 10 goals and one assist over 67 matches played, including four goals and one assist in 19 matches during her senior year in 2009. The Warhawks reached the semifinals of the WIAC Tournament in 2007, 2008 and 2009. A native of Park Ridge, Illinois, Schuck was a four-year member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll and graduated in 2011 with a degree in K-12 physical education with minors in health, coaching and adaptive PE. Schuck is a high school physical education teacher at Jacobs High School in Algonquin, Illinois.
Schuck discusses the women’s soccer program’s upcoming 30th anniversary celebration, her career at UW-Whitewater, setting the table for the program’s current run of success, and how her Warhawk experiences help her in her day-to-day life.
Episode 58 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Steve Hillmer, who enters his 17th year as Director of Sports Medicine at UW-Whitewater in 2021-22. He currently serves as the District IV representative for the National Athletic Trainers’ Association’s Intercollegiate Council for Sports Medicine – Division III, as well as the chairperson for the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Sports Medicine Committee.
Hillmer discusses the sports medicine / athletic training profession, what the summer looks like for the sports medicine staff and the upcoming 2021 fall season.
Episode 57 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Kevin Bullis, who enters his seventh year as head football coach at UW-Whitewater. In 2019, he led the Warhawks to a 13-2 record, a share of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship and the program’s 10th appearance in the Stagg Bowl (NCAA Division III national championship game). Bullis is a two-time WIAC George Chryst Coach of the Year and owns a 57-9 career record, including a 32-3 mark against conference competition.
Bullis discusses the message he gave to the team after a difficult 2020-21 year, the team’s upcoming summer camps and Quarterback Club golf outing, several recent news topics around the program and the upcoming 2021 season.
Episode 56 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation between the UW-Whitewater golf team and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Ryan Callahan. Callahan served as administrator and COVID-19 health official for the Warhawks at the 2021 NCAA Division III Women’s Golf Championship, which took place May 11-14 in Lansing, Mich. The podcast was recorded prior to the national tournament, where UW-W placed 12th for its third top-15 finish in the last four years.
The podcast includes a discussion about Callahan’s experiences as interim AD, his full career at UW-Whitewater, which included a four-year span as a student-athlete for the Warhawk baseball team, and each of the participants’ “welcome to college” moment as student-athletes.
Note: Callahan was named Director of Intercollegiate Athletics on a permanent basis last Friday, May 21.
Episode 55 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with John Vodenlich, who is in his 17th season as head baseball coach at UW-Whitewater. During Vodenlich’s 17 seasons as head coach, the Warhawks have won 12 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships, qualified for the NCAA Championships 14 times and appeared in the NCAA Division III College World Series six times, including winning the 2014 and 2005 NCAA Division III National Championships.
The Warhawks head into the final weekend of the regular season with a 31-5 record, including a 22-4 mark in the WIAC, which is tied for first in the conference standings. UW-W, which is second in the latest NCAA Midwest Regional Ranking and third in the most recent D3baseball.com/National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Top 25, hosts UW-Eau Claire Saturday before wrapping up the regular season with non-conference games at UW-Oshkosh on Sunday.
Vodenlich discussed the program’s culture and success over the past 30-plus years, the 2021 team, his background in baseball and how the game has changed at all levels.
Episode 54 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes interviews with Andrea Wieland, the Warhawks’ head golf coach, and Frank Barnes, UW-Whitewater’s head men’s and women’s tennis coach. Both were previous guests of Inside Warhawk Athletics who helped their teams win conference titles this spring.
Wieland and the golf team recently clinched the program’s fourth consecutive Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship, which begins this Tuesday in Lansing, Mich. Wieland discussed the team’s performance over the weekend at the conference tournament, the team’s three seniors capping their careers as champions, and the outlook for this week’s NCAA Championship.
Barnes discussed the men’s New Jersey Athletic Conference West Division championship, which the team earned three weeks ago, and talked about the women’s team, which claimed its 14th straight WIAC championship and a bid to the NCAA Tournament, which begins next week.
Episode 53 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes roundtable discussions with Kylie Jacobs and Hope Mylin of the UW-Whitewater women’s track and field team and Daustin Martin, Curtis Pfeil and Justin Krause of the men’s track and field team. Jacobs currently holds the team’s top times in the 200-yard dash, 400-yard dash, 4x100-meter relay and 4x400-meter relay, and Mylin runs the 100-meter hurdles. Martin, an All-American thrower, currently ranks among the nation’s top 20 in the hammer throw and holds the team’s top mark in the shot put, while Pfeil competes in the long jump and triple jump, and currently ranks as the team’s top javelin thrower. Krause is a distance runner and enters this weekend’s meet at UW-Platteville as the team’s leader in the 1,500-meter run.
The Warhawks discuss the current standing of the two teams, the family atmosphere within the programs, the upcoming Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships and their plans for the future both academically and athletically.
Episode 52 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Rachael Omdoll, who is in her fourth year as UW-Whitewater’s Dietitian. She graduated with an associate’s in accounting from Waukesha County Technical College, a bachelor’s in nutrition science from Kaplan University and a certificate dietetics from the University of Mount Union. Omdoll, a Registered Dietitian in Wisconsin, previously worked as a dietitian for the Racine Unified School District. She regularly meets one-on-one with student-athletes for consultations and presents nutrition information for Warhawk teams.
Omdoll discusses her journey in dietetics and her roles as campus dietitian, assisting students on campus, working with student-athletes and what she enjoys about the profession.
Episode 51 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a roundtable discussion with UW-Whitewater baseball student-athletes Nick Santoro, Westin Muir and Zach Campbell, who’ve helped lead the Warhawks to a 15-2 start to the 2021 season. Santoro is a 2019 All-Midwest Region and All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference selection, and is a career .350 hitter with 48 career extra base hits, including nine homers, and 75 runs batted in. Muir, a 2019 all-region and all-conference pitcher, enters the weekend with a 12-0 career record and 135 strikeouts over 112 1/3 innings pitched with a 2.24 career earned run average. Campbell is a first-year starter in the outfield in 2021, and is batting .348 with 16 runs scored and 16 RBIs this spring.
Santoro, Muir and Campbell talk about the 2021 Warhawks, their careers at UW-Whitewater, how the program has been able to build on its success, and their plans for the future.
Episode 50 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Brenda Volk, who is in her 23rd season as head softball coach at UW-Whitewater. Coach Volk is a six-time Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year. She has led the Warhawks to eight WIAC regular season championships, eight WIAC Tournament titles and 13 NCAA Tournament appearances, including a national runner-up finish in 2008 and a third-place finish in 2014. Coach Volk has accumulated more than 650 career wins, and the team has won more than 70 percent of its games during that span. The Warhawks entered the week of April 5th with a 10-4 record for the season, and return home April 14th to take on UW-Platteville.
Volk discussed the 2021 team, her journey in softball, the team’s runs to top-three national finishes in 2008 and 2014 and the program’s ability to sustain and build on its success.
Episode 49 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Jennifer Regan, who is in her 19th season as head gymnastics coach at UW-Whitewater. Coach Regan is a three-time National Collegiate Gymnastics Association Coach of the Year. She has led the Warhawks to five NCGA national championships and five WIAC/NCGA West Regional titles. Over the last 18 seasons, UW-Whitewater has accumulated 19 individual national championships, 122 All-America honors and 23 WIAC individual titles. The Warhawks will compete in their final meet of the 2021 season at home this Saturday as they take on UW-Oshkosh starting at 4 p.m.
Regan discussed the 2021 team and this Saturday’s Senior Day meet, the program’s five national championships and overall success and her journey in gymnastics.
Episode 48 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Madison Mikalauski, a senior on the Warhawk women’s soccer team and president of UW-W’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). In 2019, Mikalauski appeared in 18 matches and recorded one assist, helping UW-Whitewater sweep the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season and tournament championships and reach the first round of the NCAA Tournament. As a freshman in 2017, she played in 14 contests and helped the Warhawks reach the NCAA Tournament. Mikalauski will graduate this May with a degree in special education.
Mikalauski discussed why she chose to attend UW-Whitewater, the SAAC and her role in the organization, her experiences with the women’s soccer team and her student teaching this semester.
Episode 47 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Owen Riese, who recently completed a graduate assistantship with the UW-Whitewater football team in December 2020. Riese, who worked with the offensive line during his time as a coach, helped the Warhawks win the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship and reach the national championship game in 2019. A native of Adams, Wis., Riese currently works as a long-term substitute teacher in the Adams-Friendship School District, and is writing for SB Nation’s Bucky’s 5th Quarter, 247Sports Network’s Packer Report and CheeseheadTV’s Annual NFL Draft Guide. He earned his bachelor’s at Carroll University, where he was a four-year offensive lineman for the Pioneer football team, and his master’s in education from UW-Whitewater.
Riese discussed the draft prospects of former Warhawk Quinn Meinerz following the Warhawks’ Pro Day and talked about his own experiences in working at UW-Whitewater.
Episode 46 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Adriana Wood, who recently completed her fourth and final season with the UW-Whitewater women’s basketball team. Since stepping on to campus her freshman year, Wood emerged as a leader not only within the women’s basketball program, but on campus. Along with serving as a resident assistant, she had the unique opportunity as the featured student speaker at the 2019 University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents December meeting, sharing her story with the leaders on our campus and throughout the UW System. Wood appeared in 46 games and was a two-year captain during her career, helping the Warhawks earn two WIAC regular season championships, one conference tournament title and three trips to the NCAA Tournament. She is a three-year member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll and a two-year member of the WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team, and will graduate in May with a degree in Psychology.
Wood discussed the Warhawks’ 2021 season, her career at UW-Whitewater on and off the court and her post-graduate plans and aspirations.
Episode 45 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Leann Sullivan, who is in her 10th season as head bowling coach at UW-Whitewater. Coach Sullivan is a two-time National Tenpin Coaches Association Division II/III Coach of the Year. She has led the Warhawks to three trips to the NCAA Championship, including back-to-back third-place national finishes in 2014 and 2015, and the Central Intercollegiate Bowling Conference title in 2020. Over the last nine seasons, UW-Whitewater has accumulated 51 NTCA All-Academic honors and seven All-America accolades. The team currently owns a 12-9 record playing against some of the nation’s top competition and is ranked 24th in the NTCA February Poll.
Sullivan discussed the Warhawks’ 2021 season, her career in bowling, the team’s run of three straight appearances in the NCAA Championship and how the team has continued its success over the last decade.
Episode 44 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a roundtable discussion with Vanessa Olinger, Blaise Wilson and Morgan McEntire, who are each members of the Warhawk gymnastics team. UW-Whitewater’s 2020 season was canceled following the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship/National Collegiate Gymnastics Association West Regional. The team will begin an abbreviated, four-meet 2021 season on Feb. 27.
Olinger and Wilson were each part of the 2018 national championship team. Wilson is a two-year All-American and the 2020 Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association NCGA West Region Gymnast of the Year. Olinger competed on balance beam and floor exercise at the 2019 NCGA Championship and for two straight years at the WIAC Championship/NCGA West Regional. McEntire, who missed the 2019 season due to injury, competed on vault at the 2020 WIAC Championship/NCGA West Regional.
Olinger, Wilson and McEntire discussed their journey to UW-Whitewater, their experiences as members of the team and how their participation in gymnastics and intercollegiate athletics will help them in the future.
Episode 43 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Frank Barnes, who is in his 19th season coaching the UW-Whitewater men’s tennis team and his 18th year coaching the Warhawk women. Under his guidance, the men have qualified for 12 of the last 13 NCAA Tournaments, reaching the Round of 16 three times, and the women have claimed 13 straight Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships and 12 consecutive NCAA Tournament bids, including six trips to the Round of 16. Barnes’ career dual record on the men’s side is 339-154 (.688), and on the women’s side is 319-116 (.733), including 102 straight victories in dual matches against WIAC foes. He graduated with a bachelor’s in economics, statistics and actuarial science from the University of Wisconsin in 1989, and later earned his master’s in professional development with emphasis in health, human performance, recreation and coaching from UW-Whitewater.
Barnes discussed the upcoming 2021 season, his journey in coaching and his time at UW-Whitewater.
Episode 42 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Mike Johnson, who is in his 12th season as head men’s track and field coach and his 10th year as head women’s track and field coach at UW-Whitewater. A former student-athlete in the same program for the Warhawks, Johnson has led the men’s program to 13 national top-10 finishes and the women’s team to nine top-30 finishes, including four top 10s. During his tenure, UW-Whitewater student-athletes have combined for 117 All-America honors and 91 individual conference championships. Johnson graduated from UW-Whitewater in 2006 with a bachelor’s in occupational safety and health and in 2008 with his master’s in health and human performance.
Johnson discussed his coaching background and philosophy, the programs’ preparations for the season during the COVID-19 pandemic, and his passion for working with student-athletes.
The final half of the episode includes a conversation with seniors Jake Herlache, Zach Noll and junior Tyler Popke of the UW-Whitewater men’s swimming and diving team. Herlache is a 15-time conference medalist and a 2020 All-WIAC swimmer, whle Noll is a nine-time WIAC medalist and the 2018 league champion in the 1,650-yard freestyle. Popke reached the conference podium for the first time in 2020 with a sixth-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke.
Herlache, Noll and Popke talked about the team’s training during the COVID-19 pandemic, why they chose to attend UW-Whitewater, the family atmosphere of the program and their favorite meets of the season.
Episode 41 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Pat Miller, who is in his 20th season as head men’s basketball coach at UW-Whitewater. Coach Miller has led the Warhawks to six WIAC championships, four conference tournament titles and nine NCAA Tournament appearances, including national championships in 2012 and 2014. Coach Miller enters the 2021 season with a 394-141 career record, good for a .736 winning percentage, and is a four-time WIAC Coach of the Year. As a three-year guard for the Warhawks from 1986-89, Coach Miller helped UW-Whitewater claim the national championship in 1989 and shot 48 percent from 3-point range for his career. He graduated from UW-Whitewater in 1989 and was the WIAC Max Sparger Scholar-Athlete as a senior.
Miller discusses the 2021 team as it heads into this week’s season-opening games, his background and start in basketball, the team’s success over the past 20 years and several other topics.
Episode 40 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a 27-minute roundtable discussion with Karlee Barton and Mary Conneely, who are seniors on the UW-Whitewater bowling team. The duo helped the Warhawks win the Central Intercollegiate Bowling Conference championship in 2019-20. Barton is a two-year National Tenpin Coaches Association All-Academic selection and a three-year member of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Scholastic Honor Roll. She played in 424 frames a season ago and finished 22nd overall at the 2020 Columbia 300 Saints Invitational. Barton is majoring in physical education with a minor in allied health foundations. Conneely was named CIBC Player of the Year and first team All-CIBC last season. She led NCAA Division III in Baker double percentage (48.0), strike percentage (44.2) and Baker frame average (19.72), and competed in a team-high 819 frames. Conneely is a two-time NTCA All-Academic honoree and was a member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll in 2017-18, and is majoring in human resource management with a minor in corporate communication.
Barton and Conneely discuss this weekend’s season-opening home tournament, the team’s ability to practice and train during the COVID-19 pandemic, the atmosphere around the program and their future plans following their time at UW-Whitewater.
The episode wraps up with a 20-minute conversation with Brooke Trewyn, who currently serves as a graduate assistant coach for the Warhawk women’s basketball team and was a four-year standout guard at UW-W from 2014-18. Trewyn, a Whitewater native, helped the Warhawks claim one WIAC regular season championship, two conference tournament titles and three trips to the NCAA Tournament. She was named an All-American as a senior in 2017-18 by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association and added D3hoops.com All-Central Region and first team All-WIAC accolades to her ledger. Trewyn finished her career with 1,300 points, the third-most by a player in program history, and 660 rebounds, the sixth-most in the school record book. She graduated with a degree in physical education (health, human performance and recreation) and a minor in sport management in 2018, and is working toward a master’s in professional development (higher education leadership) with emphasis in athletic administration.

Episode 39 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Keri Carollo, who is in her 19th season as head women’s basketball coach at UW-Whitewater. Coach Carollo has led the Warhawks to six WIAC championships, two conference tournament titles and 12 NCAA Tournament appearances, including trips to the Final Four in 2008, 2013 and 2014. Last season, the team won the WIAC regular season championship and hosted the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament. Coach Carollo enters the 2021 season with a 355-152 career record, good for a .700 winning percentage, and is a four-time WIAC Coach of the Year. She also serves as Senior Woman Administrator and Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance at UW-Whitewater.
Carollo discusses the 2020-21 team, which begins competition Feb. 3, her journey to UW-Whitewater, the team’s success over the years, her recruiting philosophy and basketball’s role in her family.
Episode 38 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Carly Pottle, an assistant coach for the Warhawk women’s soccer team and student-athlete on the team from 2013-16. As a player, Pottle helped UW-Whitewater claim three Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season championships, two conference tournament titles and four trips to the NCAA Tournament, including a trip to the national quarterfinals in 2015. She started all four years and finished her career among the top five in program history in goals (37), assists (20) and points (94). Pottle was a three-time first team All-WIAC selection and two-time All-North Region honoree. She graduated with a bachelor’s in physical education and a minor in coaching in 2017 and earned her master’s in professional development (athletic administration) from UW-W in 2019. Pottle is currently in her fourth year on the Warhawks’ coaching staff.

Episode 37 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Lake Bachar, a former standout for the Warhawk football and baseball teams. Bachar, a right-handed pitcher, was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the fifth round of the 2016 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft and is currently a member of the Amarillo Sod Poodles, San Diego’s Double-A Affiliate. At UW-Whitewater, he was a three-year punter/kicker on the football team from 2013-15, helping the Warhawks win two national championships and a pair of Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference titles. During the 2014 national championship game, he kicked three field goals and made a highlight-reel tackle on a kickoff return to help UW-W to a 43-34 win. Bachar pitched for the baseball team for two seasons, helping UW-W reach the NCAA Division III World Series in 2016, when he was named first team All-Midwest Region by the American Baseball Coaches Association. He pitched 15 innings in a three-day span during the Central Regional tournament, including a complete-game, nine-strikeout performance in the regional championship game.

Episode 36 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Lee Munger, who has served as UW-Whitewater’s Director of Sports Performance since 2005. Munger oversees strength and conditioning for all 20 of the Warhawks’ sport programs. He is a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and a level one club coach from the United States Weightlifting Association. Munger came to UW-Whitewater after a three-year stint as South Dakota State University’s strength and conditioning coordinator. He graduated with a bachelor’s in health promotion from South Dakota State, and earned his master’s in human performance and sport administration from UW-La Crosse.

Episode 35 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Quardell Young, who competed for the UW-Whitewater men’s basketball team from 2011-15. Young was a part of four NCAA Tournament appearances, including national championships in 2012 and 2014, as well as two WIAC regular season championships and two conference tournament titles. As a senior in 2014-15, he led was named a consensus first team All-American, the Central Region Player of the Year and WIAC Player of the Year. Young finished his career ranked among the top 10 in program history in games played, assists, steals, scoring and blocks. He was a three-time All-WIAC selection over his four years with the program.

Episode 34 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Ronny Ponick, a running back for the UW-Whitewater football team from 2016-19. He tallied 1,642 rushing yards and 19 rushing touchdowns for his career, including career bests of 890 yards and 11 touchdowns as a junior in 2018. Ponick helped the Warhawks claim three WIAC championships and three appearances in the NCAA Playoffs. He served as a captain and won the team’s Bob Bass Most Inspirational Memorial Award in 2019, when the Warhawks reached the Stagg Bowl (NCAA Division III national championship game) for the 10th time in program history. Ponick graduated from UW-Whitewater with a degree in physical education. He currently serves as an intern in strength and conditioning at Army West Point in New York.

Episode 33 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Ryan Callahan, who is in his second year as Interim Director of Athletics at UW-Whitewater. Callahan joined the Warhawks athletic department in September 2017 as the Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Operations. For nearly two years, he was responsible for all financial aspects of the department and the oversight of game management. He was promoted to his current role in May 2019, and now oversees UW-Whitewater’s 22 varsity sport programs and is a member of the Chancellor’s Cabinet. Callahan graduated from UW-Whitewater with a degree in elementary education in 2004 after a standout four-year career with the Warhawk baseball team. He was inducted into the UW-Whitewater Athletics Hall of Fame in 2019.
Callahan discusses the latest information on returning Warhawk sports to competition, the campus’s plans for the spring semester, his journey to UW-Whitewater and his growth as a professional.
Episode 32 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Matt Zwaschka, who is in his third year as Head Wrestling Coach at UW-Whitewater. In 2019-20, he helped the Warhawks claim four Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference individual championships and finish third at the NCAA Upper Midwest Regional. The team was slated to send four individuals to the NCAA Championships, including three top-four seeds, before the national tournament was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. One year earlier, Zwaschka led UW-Whitewater to a seventh-place finish at the NCAA Championships. He has coached seven All-Americans during his two-plus seasons at the helm. A native of Marshfield, Zwaschka wrestled at UW-La Crosse, earning his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the school in 2003 and 2005, respectively.

Episode 31 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Steve Hillmer, who is in his 16th year as Director of Sports Medicine and 22nd year on the sports medicine staff at UW-Whitewater. He is responsible for the oversight of the prevention, examination, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of emergent, acute or chronic injuries and medical conditions for all Warhawk student-athletes. Hillmer currently serves as the District IV representative for the National Athletic Trainers’ Association’s Intercollegiate Council for Sports Medicine – Division III, the chairperson for the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Sports Medicine Committee and a member of the WIAC’s COVID-19 Task Force. He is the athletic department’s representative on UW-Whitewater’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and the university’s Campus Assessment, Response and Evaluation (CARE) Team.

Episode 30 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a roundtable discussion with three members of the UW-Whitewater women’s swimming and diving team – senior Skyler Budny, juniors Victoria Hamel and Abby Thompson. Budny is a four-time Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference medalist, including three times in the 1,650-yard freestyle. Thompson is a three-time WIAC medalist, including two times in the 200-yard butterfly, and Hamel has competed in freestyle, breaststroke and butterfly sprints at the last two WIAC Championships. Both Thompson and Hamel are two-year members of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll.

Worth, a three-time All-WIAC selection and four-year member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll, tallied 1,566 receiving yards in his career and caught 16 touchdown passes. He helped UW-Whitewater claim back-to-back national championships in 2013 and 2014 and reach the NCAA Division III national semifinals in 2015. As a senior, Worth was a captain, semifinalist for the National Football Foundation’s William V. Campbell Trophy, which is awarded to the nation’s top scholar-athlete, and a UW-Whitewater Chancellor’s Scholar-Athlete. He graduated from UW-W with a bachelor’s in finance.

Episode 29 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Dr. Lindsey Greviskes, an Assistant Professor in UW-Whitewater’s Department of Kinesiology and Mental Coach for Warhawk Athletics. Dr. Greviskes was a four-year starting goalkeeper at Division I Northern Illinois, where she was a two-time academic all-conference selection and two-time CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District® honoree. She is the program’s all-time leader in shutouts (29). Dr. Greviskes earned her bachelor’s in psychology and master of education in sport and exercise psychology from NIU, and received her Ph.D. from the University of Utah in sport and exercise psychology. She started her position at UW-Whitewater in 2017.

Episode 28 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Bob Lanza, a member of the UW-Whitewater Intercollegiate Athletics staff for 32 years. He retired from his position of Associate Athletic Director for Finance and Business Operations in August of 2017. Lanza was responsible for budgets, purchasing, travel and game administration. He oversaw the budgets for all 20 Warhawk sports and all other divisions of intercollegiate athletics and was an integral member of the athletics administrative team. Lanza received the UW-Whitewater Academic Staff Excellence for Non-Instructional Staff award for outstanding performance in 2014 and was recognized with the 30-Year Service Award in 2015.

Episode 27 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with John Broughton, a three-year member of the UW-Whitewater wrestling team and videographer for Warhawk Athletics. Broughton amassed a career record of 27-24 and finished fifth in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference at 157 pounds as a senior in 2020. As a videographer, Broughton produced multiple high-quality videos for UW-Whitewater teams from 2017-20. He started Broughton Video Production LLC in 2017 and works with a number of sports clients. Broughton has traveled all over the United States and the world to shoot events in numerous sports, including football, mixed martial arts and wrestling. A native of St. Louis, Broughton is currently based in Pennsylvania. He graduated from UW-Whitewater last May with a degree in electronic media.

Episode 26 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Jordan Stine, who is in his second year as UW-Whitewater’s Assistant Athletic Director for External Relations. Stine’s responsibilities for the Warhawks include fundraising through major gifts and corporate sponsorships. He is the liaison between the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and the UW-Whitewater Foundation. Stine starred for the UW-Whitewater baseball team from 2006-10, helping the team claim three Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships and reach the NCAA Tournament three times, including the Division III World Series in 2008. A four-year all-region selection and four-time first team All-WIAC honoree as an outfielder, Stine ranks among the top 10 in program history in at-bats (601), runs (182), hits (229), runs batted in (145), batting average (.381) and stolen bases (56). He was named to the WIAC’s All-Time Baseball Team in 2012 as part of the league’s Centennial Celebration.

Episode 25 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with former UW-Whitewater football linebackers and current assistant coaches Ryan Cortez and Beau Martin. Cortez, who competed for the Warhawks in 2009 and from 2011-13, was a part of the team’s 2009, 2011 and 2013 national championships. He was a three-time All-WIAC selection, including second team honors in both 2011 and 2013. As a senior in 2013, Cortez finished with 62 tackles, including nine for a loss. Cortez earned his degree in physical education (health, human performance and recreation) with a minor in coaching in 2015, and currently serves as Interim Run Defense Coordinator. Martin competed for the Warhawks in 2014 and from 2016-18. He was a member of the 2014 national championship team and was a key contributor on the 2016 and 2018 teams, which won WIAC titles and reached the NCAA Playoffs. As a senior in 2018, Martin collected 32 tackles, including 4.5 for a loss. After receiving his degree in history with minors in Spanish and sport management, Martin joined the coaching staff as a graduate assistant. He is in his first season as Linebackers Coach.

The second half of the podcast includes a conversation with Madeline Slicker, a member of the UW-Whitewater women’s tennis team from 2016-20. Slicker was named third team Academic All-America® by the College Sports Information Directors of America and was a UW-Whitewater Chancellor’s Scholar-Athlete as a senior in 2019-20. She finished her career as a two-time WIAC champion at No. 5 singles and with a 44-22 record playing singles, and was a part of four conference championship teams and three NCAA Tournament appearances. In consecutive seasons (2018-19 and 2019-20), Slicker was a captain, winner of the team’s Marty van Steenderen Award and a member of the WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team. She graduated with a degree in special education in 2020.

Episode 24 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Michaela Matthys, who competed for the UW-Whitewater women’s swimming and diving team from 2014-18. During her career at UW-Whitewater, the Warhawks finished as WIAC runner-up in both 2015 and 2018. She was a three-year NCAA Championship qualifier and an All-American in the 100-yard butterfly and 400-yard medley relay in 2015. As a senior in 2018, Matthys was named UW-Whitewater’s Female Student-Athlete of the Year. For her career, she captured nine conference individual and relay championships, the most in program history. Matthys was a two-time CSCAA Scholar All-American, four-year member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll and 2017-18 UW-Whitewater Chancellor’s Scholar-Athlete. She graduated in 2018 with a degree in media arts and game development.
Matthys discussed her current role at NBC Sports Chicago, her career accomplishments and memories, how her UW-Whitewater experience has helped her in the real world, and the swimming and diving programs’ family culture and ability to deal with the tragedies that have struck the program over the last decade.
Episode 23 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a roundtable discussion with three members of the UW-Whitewater wrestling program – assistant coach Hazen Rice, junior Killian Jauch and junior Jaritt Shinhoster. Rice was a four-year member of the program, claiming 2019-20 All-America honors, three Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference individual championships and two NCAA Regional titles during his career. He racked up 112 wins over four years, including a 32-1 record in 2019-20. Shinhoster, a two-time national qualifier, garnered All-America accolades last season after finishing as WIAC champion and Upper Midwest Regional runner-up at 174 pounds. He finished the year with a 28-3 record and 19 pins, tied for the sixth-most in one season in program history. Jauch competed at 184 pounds in 2019-20 and finished with a 1-2 record competing at the WIAC Championship.

The final portion of the podcast includes a conversation with Aimee (Tranel) Richard, a member of the UW-Whitewater volleyball program from 1994-97 and the women’s basketball program from 1993-96. Richard totaled 1,141 kills and 1,100 digs during her four-year career with the volleyball program, earning both all-conference and all-region honors in 1996 and 1997. She was a part of four NCAA Tournament teams in volleyball, including the Warhawks’ run to the Final Four in 1995 and the national quarterfinals in 1997. In basketball, Richard was named to the conference’s All-Defensive Team and helped UW-Whitewater reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 1994-95. She ranks among the program’s top 30 all time in career assists average, steals average and free-throw percentage. A native of Cuba City, Richard was inducted into the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2019.

Episode 22 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Tiffany Morton, who competed for the UW-Whitewater women’s basketball team from 2006-09. During her career at UW-Whitewater, the Warhawks claimed their first Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship in more than 20 years and reached back-to-back NCAA Tournaments, including the program’s first-ever trip to the Final Four in 2008. A three-year starting forward, Morton was a two-time D3hoops.com All-American and two-time first team All-WIAC selection. She currently ranks among the top 10 in program history in career scoring, rebounding, blocked shots, field goal percentage and made free throws. A native of Beloit, Morton graduated in 2009 with a degree in psychology. Following her playing career, she was hired as a graduate assistant coach, serving in the role from 2010-12 before earning her master’s in education with an emphasis in professional development in 2012.

Episode 21 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with John Gottwald, who was a member of the Warhawk men’s soccer team from 2011-14. Gottwald was a two-time first team All-WIAC selection, and was named WIAC Co-Offensive Player of the Year, WIAC Max Sparger Scholar-Athlete and first team Capital One Academic All-District by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) in 2014. He was a part of the 2011 conference championship and two NCAA Tournament appearances, including a second round birth in 2014. Gottwald appeared in 76 matches during his career and scored 48 points on 16 goals and 16 assists. His 11 assists in 2014 are the third-most in one season in program history. Gottwald graduated from UW-Whitewater in 2014 with a degree in chemistry with minors in mathematics and biology.

Gumina, a tight end, was a three-time All-WIAC honoree and a third team D3football.com All-West Region selection as a senior in 2017. Gumina’s 54-yard touchdown catch at NAIA powerhouse Morningside (Iowa) in 2015 was the No. 2 play on ESPN SportsCenter’s Top 10 plays that night. He received numerous accolades during his senior season, including CoSIDA Academic All-District®, UW-Whitewater Chancellor’s Scholar-Athlete and National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society. Gumina graduated with a degree in biology in 2014.

Episode 20 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Brad Arnett, who was a member of the Warhawk football team from 1990-93. Arnett garnered all-conference and All-America honors as a senior in 1993, and was a part of the team’s conference championship and appearance in the NCAA Playoffs in 1990. After graduating with his degree in corporate and community health, Arnett embarked on a career in sports performance/strength and conditioning, and has worked in the profession for more than 20 years. He is currently the Owner and Director of Sports Performance at NX Level in Waukesha.

Tijerina garnered All-America honors in 2018 as a member of the team’s indoor 4x400-meter relay and was a two-time All-Midwest Region and All-WIAC selection in the 4x400. She was named the team’s Sophomore of the Year and Most Improved Athlete in 2018.

Episode 19 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Jeff Miller, who is in his 39th season as head men’s cross country coach and his 37th as head women’s cross country coach. Coach Miller’s runners have combined for 39 first team All-WIAC honors and 47 other all-conference accolades. He has coached 17 All-Americans, and a combined 10 of his teams have reached the NCAA Championship. The women finished fourth in the nation in 1991, and the men placed fifth in 1999. Coach Miller also serves as an assistant coach for the Warhawk track and field programs, coaching numerous All-Americans in distance and mid-distance events.
Miller spoke about the program’s 2019 season, how he has set up the annual competition schedule and what makes UW-Whitewater and the Whitewater community so special after nearly 40 years as a coach working and living in the area.
Episode 18 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Dalton Vendon, who is in his fifth season as an assistant athletic trainer primarily working with the Warhawk football team and his fifth year as an instructor in the Department of Kinesiology. Prior to UW-Whitewater, Venden was an athletic trainer at the University of Wisconsin. He earned his bachelor’s degree at UW-Oshkosh and his master’s at Michigan State University while he was employed as a graduate assistant athletic trainer. Venden is a certified strength and conditioning specialist and State of Wisconsin Licensed Athletic Trainer.

Hudson was a three-time All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference wide receiver and the team’s Most Valuable Player as a senior in 2017. He finished his career ranked among the top 10 in program history in receiving yards (2,545), touchdowns (21) and receptions (145). Hudson was a member of the 2014 national championship team and helped the Warhawks capture conference titles in 2014 and 2016. He graduated with a degree in criminology.

Episode 16 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Stacy Boudreau, who is in her 16th season as head volleyball coach at UW-Whitewater. Boudreau has led the Warhawks to three top-three national finishes, including the 2005 NCAA Division III championship. Since Boudreau took over, UW-Whitewater has claimed six WIAC championships, six conference tournament titles and 14 appearances in the NCAA Tournament. In 2019, she earned her 500th career coaching win and led the Warhawks to the WIAC regular season championship and a trip to the NCAA Tournament. Boudreau currently ranks 11th among active Division III coaches with a .761 winning percentage and 17th all time in the same category.
Boudreau talks about this year’s team, her journey in volleyball, the team’s 2005 national championship, how the program has been able to sustain success and the former UW-W student-athletes and assistant coaches who’ve moved on into coaching positions at the high school and collegiate levels.
Episode 15 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Brent Allen, an assistant coach for the UW-Whitewater football team since 2015 and an offensive lineman for the Warhawks for four years (2003, 2005-07). Allen, who currently serves as offensive line coach and run game coordinator, was a second team All-American and winner of the Rimington Award as the top center in NCAA Division III in 2007, when the team won its first-ever national championship. In five seasons as an assistant coach, Allen has helped UW-W offensive linemen earn 15 all-conference honors and has coached six All-Americans.

Episode 14 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Hayley Tenpas, who competed for the UW-Whitewater women’s track and field team from 2009-2011. During her tenure at UW-Whitewater, Tenpas competed exclusively in the high jump, qualifying for the WIAC Championships three times. She was also an active member of the campus community, working for both UWW-TV and University Marketing and Communications. A native of Hortonville, Wisconsin, Tenpas was a member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll in 2010-11 and graduated in 2012 with a degree in broadcast journalism and a minor in public relations. Tenpas is a regional Emmy nominated journalist who currently works for WHBY radio in Appleton, Wisconsin, and is the host of the daily show, “Focus Fox Valley”. Tenpas discusses her career in media, her tenure as a high jumper for the track and field program and how her involvement at UW-Whitewater has helped her in her career.

The group helped lead the Warhawks to the 2019 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship and a national runner-up finish. During the second half of the podcast, assistant athletic director Chris Lindeke holds a conversation with junior Sarah Niehueser, sophomores Jill Cavanaugh and Paige Fassbender. All three helped the Warhawks place 10th at the NCAA Midwest Regional last fall, the program’s highest regional finish since 2007.

Episode 12 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Ashley (Smith) Matejcak, a member of the UW-Whitewater softball team from 2006-09. During her tenure at UW-Whitewater, the Warhawks claimed back-to-back WIAC championships and consecutive bids to the NCAA Tournament in 2008 and 2009, finishing as national runner-up in 2008. A three-year starting infielder, Matejcak was a 2007 honorable mention All-WIAC selection after batting .325 with 22 runs batted in. A native of Elgin, Illinois, Matejcak was a four-year member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll and graduated in 2009 with a degree in communication sciences and disorders and earned her master’s in communicative disorders from UW-Whitewater in 2011.

Episode 10 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with UW-Whitewater Head Women's Soccer Coach Ryan Quamme. He enters his ninth season as the head women's soccer coach at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 2020. Quamme entered the 2019 season ranked eighth among active NCAA Division III head coaches in winning percentage. He has led UW-Whitewater to five Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships, five WIAC Tournament titles and seven NCAA Tournament appearances, including a trip to the national quarterfinals in 2015. Quamme has been named WIAC Coach of the Year in five of his eight seasons at the helm. The Warhawks have compiled a 131-37-13 record (48-9-2 WIAC), including a 33-match WIAC regular season win streak from 2012-15, during that span.
Quamme discusses his soccer career leading up to UW-Whitewater, his time as an assistant under Greg Henschel, his years as head coach and what helps make his program so successful on and off the field.
Episode 9 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union begins with a conversation between graduate assistant Nate Tranel and former football All-American Nate Trewyn, who played for the Warhawks from 2016-18. Trewyn claimed the 2018 Rimington Award as the top center in NCAA Division III and signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a free agent following the 2019 NFL Draft, earning a spot on the team’s practice squad during the 2019 campaign. Trewyn helped UW-Whitewater claim WIAC championships in 2016 and 2018 and reach the national quarterfinals in 2016 and the national semifinals in 2018. Tranel and Trewyn, who were teammates during the 2017 and 2018 seasons, discuss Trewyn’s professional career, his favorite memories at UW-Whitewater and why he chose to transfer to UW-W from Minnesota State Mankato.

Guinn, the 2019 American Collegiate Athletic Association Coach of the Year, has led the Warhawks to four NCAA Tournament appearances (2014, 2015, 2016, 2019) and owns a career winning percentage of .678. He recorded his 100th victory at UW-Whitewater during the 2019 season, when the team won the ACAA championship and reached the NCAA Tournament. Storti and Guinn discuss Guinn’s career in soccer, his transition from the Division I level, his goals for his student-athletes as they play in his program and his assistance in setting up a trip to Ireland for the Warhawk golf team, which Storti is a member of.
Episode 8 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Richard Houcque, who attended UW-Whitewater from 2014-18 and majored in communication with emphasis in electronic media. During his tenure at UW-Whitewater, Richard was a student videographer working with UW-Whitewater’s marketing and communications department as well as Warhawk Athletics. He captured many key moments for our teams, especially in the 2017-18 year, when he created the year-end highlight reel for the department. A native of Elkhorn, Richard graduated in 2018 and is currently working as a video editor for the National Football League.

Episode 7 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union begins with graduate assistant Nate Tranel’s interview with Cole Wilber, a former quarterback for the UW-W football team from 2015-18. Wilber garnered first team All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and third team D3football.com All-West Region accolades in 2018, when he was also named WIAC Offensive Player of the Year. He threw for 6,559 yards and 50 touchdowns during his career, ranking third in program history in each category. Wilber was a part of two conference championships and three trips to the NCAA Playoffs, including two national semifinal appearances.
Tranel and Wilber, who were teammates in 2017 and 2018, discuss Wilber’s career after football, his favorite memories competing with the team and how his UW-Whitewater experience has impacted his life.

Episode 6 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union is a conversation with Brady Grayvold, a defensive back for the Warhawk football team from 2012-14. Brady currently serves as an assistant coach at the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota. During his playing career at UW-Whitewater, he was selected All-WIAC twice and finished as the program’s all-time leader in interception return yards and interceptions returned for a touchdown with five. As a senior in 2014, he was a consensus first team All-American and a semifinalist for the Gagliardi Trophy. During his career, the Warhawks won two WIAC championships and two national titles.

On Episode 5 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union, athletic communications graduate assistant Nate Tranel talks with UW-Whitewater Assistant Football Coach Jace Rindahl, who is in his first year as Interim Defensive Coordinator and his sixth year on the defensive staff. Rindahl was a linebacker for the Warhawk football team from 2005-2008, helping UW-Whitewater claim its first-ever national championship (2007) and reaching the Stagg Bowl four times. He was named D3football.com Defensive Player of the Year and first team All-America as a senior, and was later selected to the WIAC's All-Time Football Team as part of the league's centennial celebration. Tranel and Rindahl discuss Rindahl's playing career, his journey to becoming a coach and his advice for young coaches trying to get their start in the profession.
The last half of the podcast is a discussion between athletic communications graduate assistant Kelly Storti and former Warhawk golf student-athlete Ashley Hofmeister. A four-year first team All-WIAC golfer, Hofmeister helped the Warhawks claim three straight conference championships from 2017-19. After claiming the individual conference title as a freshman in 2016, Hofmeister was selected WIAC Player of the Year in 2017 after helping UW-W win its first league title since 1999. She also represented the Warhawks at the 2018 and 2019 NCAA Championships, helping the team place 12th and 13th, respectively. Storti and Hofmeister, who were teammates from 2016-20, discuss Hofmeister's playing career, her experience as a Warhawk and her career in accounting.
Episode 4 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Jessica Sabey, an outside hitter for the UW-Whitewater volleyball team from 2012-16. Jess currently serves as Director of Operations for the volleyball team at Marquette University. During her playing career at UW-Whitewater, she finished with 656 kills, a .209 hitting percentage and 2.57 kills per set, and helped the Warhawks reach the NCAA Tournament in all five seasons. Jess was a 2014-15 National Strength and Conditioning Association All-American, a member of the 2014 WIAC Volleyball All-Sportsmanship Team, a four-time member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll and a UW-Whitewater Chancellor’s Scholar-Athlete in 2016.

Marcus currently serves as an assistant coach at the University of Minnesota Duluth. During his playing career at UW-Whitewater, he was selected All-WIAC three times, All-West Region two times and All-American twice. As a senior captain in 2014, Marcus finished with 42 tackles, seven pass breakups, three fumble recoveries and one interception. During his career, the Warhawks won three WIAC championships and three national titles.
Marcus talks about his Warhawk playing career, his coaching career, the opportunities that his UW-Whitewater experience afforded him and the coaches and teammates he's still in touch with. The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Department of Intercollegiate Athletics debuts the Inside Warhawk Athletics podcast. Our first guest is head coach Kevin Bullis, who is entering his sixth season at the helm of the program and 13th at the university. Since Coach Bullis became head coach prior to the 2015 season, the Warhawks own a record of 57-9 and have claimed three WIAC championships and four trips to the NCAA Playoffs, including the quarterfinals in 2016, the semifinals in 2015 and 2018 and last year’s Stagg Bowl national championship game appearance.
