Ever heard of that ol' saying.... "count it all joy?" Well, it's actually a scripture verse that can leave us feeling so irritated when someone reminds us to do that very thing on a day where we aren't feeling very "joyful."
In this week's episode we're talking about how to count it all joy ... not by denying our "non-joyful" feelings, but in conjunction with them! If you are tired of feeling like bad days and emotions dictate your joy... this episode is for you!

This week on the podcast we're talking about Joy - especially how to make time for joy. Did you know you could schedule in joy?
You can! And this episode is giving you all the how-tos. But be assured... this isn't about an app or a new day planner. It's about intention and more importantly realizing that joy is found in how you feel, not what you do.

"You didn't come this far to only come this far!" Whenever a roadblock or obstacle hits us, our first inclination is to stop working on the plan and give up. However, when we take a moment and give ourselves credit for what fears we have faced, and the positive that WILL come in our future, our mental strength will push us forward to completion. This week I am sharing a guest interview I was asked to be part of for a podcast that shares personal stories to inspire others. My friend Amy and I get into talking about how to push past adversity to then leverage it for your greatness moving ahead. This podcast is a platform for a wonderful nonprofit based in Fort Wayne, Indiana called Paul's Place. This nonprofit seeks to provide the comfort and support of being at home while being away from home. Its main focus is for the caregivers and at times, adult patients that reside outside of Allen County but are receiving treatment at any of the Fort Wayne hospitals. Whether the adult patient is receiving treatment for cancer or any other life-threatening illnesses or medical conditions or has suffered a traumatic accident. Paul’s Place: Support for Families will provide a temporary, fully furnished apartment home away from home. Learn more about Paul's Place at https://www.paulsplace.org/

If you're living and breathing... you're busy. We are all busy. Maybe we're busy doing different things, but the bottom line is... we fill our 24 hours to the brim and then some. In this episode, I'm going to challenge your mindset on time. When we are faced with an overloaded calendar and to-do list, we don't necessarily need better management of time, we need a better mindset for the time we have, how we perceive it and what we choose to do with it.

If you've ever sat around a campfire, you know there's a science to keeping that fire going. It takes the right amount of firewood and airflow to keep those flames roaring. However, get too much firewood shoved into that firepit and you'll lose the airflow, thus choking out your fire. The same happens in our lives. We let distractions, life's circumstances, a lengthy to-do list, and mundane days choke the life out of our fire. In 2021, we all are teetering more towards burnout than passion, but it doesn't have to be that way.
You can change the sliding scale to move closer to a passion-filled life and farther away from burnout. In this episode we're talking about how to do just that - recovering from burnout, restoking the fire and keeping it lit. It's the beginning of a new month... the perfect time to get refocused on taking action and getting stuff done, right?

It seems that no one like to wait or be put in a holding pattern. We often see a pause as punishment. But what if we could learn how to find purpose in it... and better yet, what if we could embrace the rest, recovery, reflection and revision in that season of pause. Today I am sharing my personal progress in what has been my season of pause. It hasn't been without frustrations... I like to be on the go! But taking a time out doesn't have to be punishment and I've learned some valuable lessons in my current pause that I'd love to share with you!
Embrace the plateaus
Engage during the pause
Elevate your success quotient

A little unknown fact about me.... I waited until I was 40 years old to get my wisdom teeth pulled. It wasn't that they didn't need to be pulled. They most certainly did, but the fear and anxiety of going in for a procedure like that was too much for me to handle and I put it off for far too long. Looking back on it now, I laugh at the hysterical antics that went along with this wisdom-teeth saga... some of which I share with you in this episode. But, there were some great life lessons that came from this experience which is what I really want to offer you in this episode:
Waiting far too long
Playing worse care scenario
Speak and seek support

Feel like the thing you are most gifted to do is so far left of what everyone else you know is doing? This episode is for you!
My guest this week is author, poet and speaker Traci Neal. Although she began writing at age 5, it wasn't until she was 30 that she decided to step into a writing career. Feeling the pressure to fit into the "normal" career path, Traci tried to make teaching her thing, but it just wouldn't work out. That's when she turned back to her gift of writing and embraced what she was most gifted to do.

Now at 31, Traci is a Children's Book Author, Professional Christian Poet, and Certified Motivational "Youth" Speaker. Her primary goal is to inspire millions of youth and be a positive influence in the world. She wants youth to know they are not alone. Do you feel like you have untapped potential? Is your purpose falling to the wayside? Or maybe purpose is too elusive and vague at the moment.
In this episode, we're diving into three aspects of potential and purpose:
Choosing to not live out your purpose can lead to a lot of frustration because you're playing small. You guts are telling you to be more, do more... but you aren't listening. Your mind and heart are at odds trying to compel you to act, but you don't move. When you're not living your purpose, you can find yourself making excuses as to why you can't and your energy gets drained.
Fear, procrastination, lack of focus and intention, and a lack of support are all things that can hold you back from living out your purpose and unleashing your potential. But there's hope! You don't have to stay stuck. You can get help to move ahead and to move past what's holding you back. Give yourself some time to make it happen. Create space and routines to do the work and start to feel the momentum taking hold. Remember, you can stop. You can rest. But you can't quit.
We've hit 50 episodes! Can you believe it???
Well, in this 50th episode, we're gonna address the elephant in the room... "the new normal" or rather change. If 2020 has taught us anything it's that change happens and we have to learn how to pivot, adapt and evolve as life deals out the changes left and right. But what if change meant choosing. Choosing to embrace a new way of living. Choosing to pair down or eliminate things that don't serve you well. Choosing to focus on who you are rather than all that you do.
I am sharing three key points with you today that will help you choose a new normal for your expectations, time and well-being.
You've heard the phrase "taking a leap of faith?" Well, what about taking a leap tofaith? Let me introduce to you my dear friend Heather Lytle, who shared with us all how she pushed past fear and uncertainty to launch a new business, grow personally and spiritually, while also working past some limiting beliefs. This is a FUN episode and you will laugh. Heather's humor is contagious and explains why I love her so much!

Have you lost a little bit of faith... in life? In yourself? In others? In God? Let me help you revive your faith in this week's podcast episode. We're using a New Testament story that is one of my favorites and I know it will do your heart a lot of good, too! It's the story of Jesus and his miracle of turning a few loaves of bread and some fish into a meal that would feed more than 5,000 people. And while the story in and over itself is powerful and amazing, there is a deeper lesson here in the example Jesus offers us... it's exactly what we should be doing in the face of a challenge or a hard time or when we're feeling as if we aren't enough or at the end of our rope.

It's one thing to say we need to appreciate our personal value or that we need to know our self-worth.... but it's a whole other thing to actually live that way! Why is it that we struggle so much to believe and act as the unique, precious, priceless creatures that we are? The world and its messages sure don't help us in that area. We are bombarded with comparison, forcing our minds and hearts to measure up. We are hit with an "ideal" image or lifestyle, all the while we feel pushed to form fit into this fake "ideal."
In this episode, I am challenging you to think differently. To speak differently. And to get fierce with fighting for and hanging on to your self-worth. This episode was recorded during our annual women's summit and believe me... the women on the other side of the conversation were fired up to walk in their value and declare their self-worth!

The things we say to ourselves can make or break our success. When it comes to living a life of purpose and passion, the messages we play in our head have a huge impact on our actions as well as the confidence we have in what we are capable of. In this episode, I am sharing three messages that I've leaned into to help retrain my brain to think differently.
1). "I can figure it out" - this was a message to myself many years ago and recently Marie Forleo released a book entitled Everything Is Figureoutable. This message of "I can figure it out" reminds us that there is information we can gain, things we can learn and our own creativity that can help us keep moving forward in our goals and past our obstacles.
2) "It's okay to be unique" - what you want to do, the dreams you want to chase, the accomplishments you are striving for... this may not look like anything anyone else is doing around you. And that's okay! Be encouraged that what has been placed in your heart isn't placed there by accident. Step into your uniqueness and your unique greatness.
3) "Tomorrow I can try again" - we will fall short. There are days we won't be the greatest. We will make mistakes, experience setbacks and failure, but tomorrow is another day. Don't give up... you can try again tomorrow.

Do you know what it means to "hustle"... in life? In your purpose?
In today's episode, we're talking about your everyday hustle. I'll be sharing what it is and what it isn't, I'll also give you three tips on how you can best apply this to your life.

We all know how it feels to have our trust broken. We know how it feels to be the one who broke the trust, too.
Both scenarios are not fun ones and leave us feeling broken, raw, exposed, and hurt. But we don't want to stay in that painful place, so how do we really learn how to trust again? How can we heal so we aren't faced with the pain over and over?
In this episode, I am offering some encouragement for you to help you get to a place of healing. We are talking about the difference between true healing versus just putting a bandaid on the wound. We're addressing some ways you can walk back to trust. It's a good one, so let's dive in!

I love this quote from Thomas Kelly: "We have hints that there is a way of life vastly richer and deeper than all this hurried existence, a life of unhurried serenity and peace and power. If only we could slip over into that center."
Life is busy. Our schedules are hectic. We cram a lot into our 24 hours and sometimes we pay the price. We feel stress, anxiety, overwhelm. It's as if the weight of all that we have on our plate is sitting on our chests and we can't breathe. We're being suffocated by all the demands, to-dos and pressures of life.
In this episode, I am sharing some ideas and helpful tools to shift this way of living to a more unhurried serenity, peaceful and powerful way of living. I find this topic to be so critical no matter who you are or where you're from or even what stage of life you may be in because the pace of our lives has a monumental impact on the depth of our lives. When we fall into the trap that our value comes in all that we do instead of simply all that we are, we wear busy and stress as a badge of honor.
So this chat is about creating room to breathe and margin in life. It's not about doing more, faster or more efficient. But it is about pushing out the noise and chaos, pushing out what's not necessary, to allow for what's most important to rise to the surface of our hearts and minds.
If you would like to check out a really great book on the subject, read Keri Wyatt Kent's "Breathe: Creating space for God in a hectic life."
I am also giving you a free e-book from yours truly. It's all about mindsets and methodologies on time management. You can get yours at www.christiebrowning.com/time

For months I worked to find ways to cover up the scar. In the end, it was my hairdresser that told me to "embrace the scar." That statement shifted my perspective and led me to learn a lesson we all need -- to embrace our scars. In this episode, we start our study of Romans. Christie walks through the first 17 verses of Chapter 1 in Romans, and hits on the following key areas:
1) What we can learn from Paul's introduction in verse 1. Why his mission statement should be a catalyst for us to do the same.
2) Why Paul felt he needed to say he was not ashamed of the gospel, and what that really should mean for us modern-day believers.
3) What does "the just shall live by faith" really mean and why it's not a contradiction to a life of grace and mercy.
