Amidst A – L – L the temptations which surround you.” (FROM: Barnes’ New Testament Notes) I think that is quite clear and needs not further explanation. Ephesians 6:10 is a cross-reference for this commentary passage. It reads, “Finally, be strengthened in the Lord and in the strength of his power.” It is His strength we use to stand firm and for holding on to our faith in Him.

We read that God said, if Adam ate the forbidden fruit he would surely die. When reading that statement we read it with a sense of immediacy. In other words, you eat, you die! Yet, Adam lived 930 years! There is a perceived contradiction here. This means, we need to unwrap the underlying paradox. God is true to his word so there is no contradiction here! Only a seeming conundrum, a paradox of evidence that we do not see at first read. We will also see that, “The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil” was put there for a REAL!, purpose. Not to just provide a way for Adam and Eve to simply choose whether or not to follow God or to fall into the temptation eventually presented to them.

Genesis 22:15-18 reads, “[15] The LORD’s angel called to Abraham a second time from heaven [16] and said, “I solemnly swear by my own name,” decrees the LORD, “that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, [17] I will indeed bless you, and I will greatly multiply your descendants so that they will be as countless as the stars in the sky or the grains of sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the strongholds of their enemies. [18] Because you have obeyed me, all the nations of the earth will pronounce blessings on one another using the name of your descendants.” Isaac and Jacob both received this promise as well. It suggests the notion of Generational Blessing!

Does the Bible say anything about our salvation being a once and for all situation? So many of the things the Bible says people go to hell for, can be found still unresolved in one’s own life. This contradicts what we were told when we were converted to Christ! The underlying paradox is the source of our uncertainty.

What does scripture say about the certainty of salvation and going to heaven? God’s Word to the Nations Translation reads, “But now Christ has brought you back to God by dying in his physical body. He did this so that you could come into God’s presence without sin, fault, or blame.” (Colossians 1:22)

“This is on the condition that you continue in faith without being moved from the solid foundation of the hope that the Good News contains.” (Colossians 1:23) That does have an ominous sound to it and at first read or glance, can cause uncertainty in the heart and mind of a believer.

If this is all you read, it creates a very ominous view of our salvation being doubtful and uncertain. Many Pastors, Preachers and Teachers tend to use scare tactics in their messages to scare the listener! Some do this deliberately out of will-full intent and others out of ignorance. All this means, plain and simple, it is our choice to be saved.

Verse 23, in Colossians 1, tells us what we need to do to live the Christian life with!, certainty!

A very thought is seen by God as faith. Look at Matthew 9:21 again! It says, “She thought…”. Her faith was only a mere thought of touching the clothes of Christ and she would be healed. Brothers and Sisters!, faith, belief, faith believing is really that simple if it is coupled with action to carryout that thought.

Many people hear a message that stirs in them the need, want and desire to saved. But!, how does that work? How can one be saved? Why should one be saved? We will attempt to answer these questions for you this week.

John 3:16-18 which reads, "[16] For this is the way God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world should be saved through him. [18] The one who believes in him is not condemned. The one who does not believe has been condemned already, because he, has, not, believed in the name of the one and only Son of God."

Genesis 2:15-17 reads, "[15] The LORD God took the man and placed him in the orchard in Eden to care for it and to maintain it. [16] Then the LORD God commanded the man, 'You may freely eat fruit from every tree of the orchard, [17] but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will surely die.'" Here is the establishment of, "The Law of Sin and Death" right here!, in the garden.

Notice how the question from the serpent to Eve is worded in Genesis 3:1. "He said to the woman, 'Is it really true that God said, 'You must not eat from any tree of the orchard'?". What did God say in Genesis 2:16? God's statement to Adam begins, "[16] Then the LORD God commanded the man, 'You may freely eat fruit from every tree of the orchard...".

If there is still doubt about the surety of our salvation, Romans 8:1-2 should erase all doubt for good! First, lets look at Romans 8:1. Again, it reads, "There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."

Romans 8:3 tells us what Jesus has done for us. Romans 8:3 specifically says, "he condemned sin, in, the, flesh,...". How? By the Father sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh! Isn't that an amazing thing for him to do when Genesis 1:26 reads, "Then God said, 'Let us make humankind in our image, after our likeness, so they may rule..."
