When you catch the media in unguarded moments, they reveal, without even realizing it, that they know it’s a baby in the womb, not just a blob of protoplasm. In a truly amazing story from the UK, an unborn baby was surgically cured of spina bifida after being taken out of her mother’s womb at 24 weeks, operated on by a team of surgeons from Belgium and England, and put back in the womb for the remainder of the pregnancy. The mother, Bethan Simpson and her husband were given the choice of aborting the baby but instead chose life. Here is the kicker: In the story I read, from Yahoo news, the baby is referred to as “an unborn baby” twice, a “baby” five times, a “child” twice, and Bethan was described as her “mother” three times. In other words, they know it’s a baby.
