We are all Works in Progress. What if we took that a step further? Pausing for a moment to ask ourselves, What else is Possible? Bringing the question into the forefront of our consciousness without seeking out any answer. What if you were to just "be" with the question so that you can then choose something different for your life? So do the thing. Do whatever your heart desires. Give yourself permission to do it messy and do it anyway! Choose Joy! Get curious! What Amazing possibilities have you not considered in your life today?

I’ve closed my business…There. It’s now out into the Universe and for all ears that listen to this podcast.
Closed. It. ALL. The LLC, the website, and the business bank account. Letting it ALL go for real.
I feel all the things ALL at once. Sadness & disappointment, excitement & relief... A sense of peace I didn’t know I would feel.
Excitement of what’s to come, because it’s going to be something extraordinary right?!
Wow. Now it’s officially REAL.
It is with so much gratitude I feel that I say Thank you! Thank you To all who supported and encouraged me along my entrepreneurial journey. Those who listened when I was just feeling “stuck” in my business. Those who celebrated the exciting milestones along the way.
And most importantly, Thank you to my business. Who taught me the greatest lesson of all….
That it is okay to have loved something and to let go of it, in order to make space in your heart for new dreams—then to never have had the experience in the first place.

Divine feminine energy reads the world through its heart. It reads the world through felt sense and love.
We cannot be compassionate unless we fill ourselves with Divine Love. And we can’t heal unless we take in divine Love.
We often focus so much on the masculine “doing” energy within our society.
And It takes SOOOOOO much energy to do this. We become analytical, taking so much thought of what we’re doing and how we should be doing it all differently.
Being still to receive LOVE. That Love that hits you at your heart center vs. your mind center.
In those moments of receiving when the answers are there within us if we just stop and slow down to receive.
When do you feel most at peace?
When you’re not doing all the things? When you’re just being?
Wisdom is a knowing deep within all of us. When wisdom comes in—We KNOW Wisdom will allow the divine energy of you to flow, if you notice HER and give her space.
Wisdom will bring from you the best parts of who you are…if you allow wisdom to bring her in.
“Do not forsake wisdom she will protect you
Love her and she will watch over you
Cherish her and she will exalt you
Embrace her and she will honor you
She will give you a garland and grace your head and present you
with a glorious crown.” -Unknown
Allow that wisdom to flow through you. Up to the crown chakra and allow the energy to move completely through you.
Soak that wisdom in. Wisdom is powerful. So much more powerful than our thinking mind. It’s what we bring as humans on this Earth.
It is the wisdom within you that will guide change throughout this world. When we allow the wisdom in and we allow it to guide us.
When we put down the armor to let that wisdom in, your light in, all that kindness, compassion and love will flow through you. That energy changes things. As you heal, the world heals without you even realizing it.

Start with the basics: Remember why you started your journey. Why are you doing what you’re doing in the first place? Do you remember that very first spark of inspiration that led you to where you are now?
With our regular activities day in and day out, sometimes we lose sight of this and we start feeling lost, uninspired, and unmotivated.
Be kind to yourself: give yourself a little bit of grace. do your best not to be too hard on yourself for not feeling inspired anymore. Maybe you’ve shifted directions.
Take a break to recharge: Maybe it’s a day, a week, a month or even a year. If you’re feeling unmotivated, all you may really need is just a small little break to recharge and feel like yourself again.
Try something New!

I was gonna quit. I was gonna close up shop forever, dust off my hands and say “Well I tried my best.” Because that was the easier thing to do.
Because that was what I was familiar with the most.
With 2 failed businesses, I feared (still do) success.
I honestly felt absolutely NO motivation, no drive and definitely no inspiration whatsoever.
You see when you begin to feel disconnected to something, someone or somewhere your energy tanks in a hurry.
You begin to feel less like yourself and when that happens for too long you begin to just accept it. To accept “That’s just how life is.”
Well, I’m here to tell you NO IT IS NOT!
If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.
I don’t know where that saying comes from but it’s pretty on the nose if you ask me.
Sharing your gifts with the world doesn’t always mean you have to show up like everyone else and build a business. It just so happens, that’s what I wanted to do.
So thank you for being here. You are f'in AMAZING!

Why is self-recognition and self-praise such an obstacle for me?
A friend of mine, Kitty Gonzalez put into a great frame of reference!
It's not really the obstacle or that you are in a rut. But maybe it has more to do with the fact that you aren't honoring your core values in that moment. Therefore, not allowing yourself to grow into whatever opportuinity you are wanting to grow into

"The only safe thing to take is a chance." -Elaine May
Taking a bet on yourself means having an unbreakable belief in YOU!
You could say that we all have an "intuitive intelligence."
This term was first used by Canadian sociologist Malcolm Gladwell.
He said, "We have the capacity the determine what’s most important in a short amount of time," and he named that ability “intuitive intelligence.”
Taking a bet on yourself and following your intuition can create so many magical things in your life!
Why is this significant??

I'm going through a 21-day experiment. I am opening myself up to being very intentional with how I start my days. Asking myself the question, "What would bring me joy right now?" Because we all know the age-old truth of not being able to give from an empty cup right?
I invite you to pause a moment and ask your self the very same question, "What would bring me joy right now in this present moment?"
It also helps to slow down and be more "like a chicken."

What if your dream isn’t the same anymore?
Sometimes my job makes me physically ill and want to throw up. I find myself losing my patience and wondering how much longer do I have to stay in a job that is no longer a contribution to my Highest Good?
When is it gonna be my turn to do all the things I want to do professionally that will get me closer to my dream?
Sure my dream has shifted dramatically over the years, but a big part of it still remains the same.
Or maybe it hasn’t, and that’s the hardest part to let go. Can you have more than one dream at a time and still want all the same things?
This manifestation shit is hard sometimes and I find it challenging to “buy into” sometimes. A lot of the time actually if I’m being honest.
And then... I come back down to Earth and remember What else is possible? Because there are so many Amazing Possibilities waiting to be discovered that I, myself still haven’t even considered.
What if….yes what if everything is always working out for me, and I just needed to take the longer and more arduous detour to learn all I needed to learn along the journey?
As my favorite astrologer, Stephanie Powers says: “Feet on the ground, Head in the stars.” And this is oh-so-true! It helps me to feel grounded, and lets me know that I can keep on dreamin', visioning, and living my life!

Today, I am borrowing benefits from an amazing coaching program put on by Stephanie Virchaux. I learned these things on my own journey to empowerment and self-discovery and wanted to share them with you in this episode.
Noticing the Flow
What in my current reality is part of my soul-aligned identity?
What is part of the now holding you back?
What is part of the now that you’re ready to let go?
What supports your up-leveled identity?
Release & Let Go
Identifying
If there were no consequences, what parts of you would you allow to just be & allow to show up?
Right now it's time for those parts of you (actions, thoughts, habits) to be alive!
Write it Down!
Embodying
What are the things you wrote down that make you feel the most alive? The things that you're ready to embody now.
Committing
This is the part where you’re committing to this new Identity.
Writing a statement of commitment
Loving and acknowledging the past version of you, releasing that past version
Welcoming in the new version. Nurturing it. Supporting, loving, and encouraging it
Embracing the new Identity!

The process for asking for Workplace Accommodations when you have ADHD is not always created equal.
ADHD brains have low levels of a neurotransmitter called norepinephrine and lower levels of dopamine.
Definition of a job accommodation:
A job accommodation is an adjustment to a job or work environment that makes it possible for an individual with a disability to perform their job duties.
So here’s my interesting point of view/perspective on it all, based on my own experience. Take what resonates and leave the rest
We need to do better... And by WE….I mean companies out in the working professional world. We need to educate ourselves more on this topic….because ADHD is actually more common than we realize, and most women are underdiagnosed or never diagnosed. In the past, ADHD was seen as a disorder mainly in young boys and they were “hyperactive.” Most symptoms in young girls were overlooked, and often diagnosed as depression or anxiety.

In this episode, I chat with Christina Singh all about Creating Amazing Possibilities through vulnerability.
We met thru a mutual friend of ours Stephanie Virchaux and she was a guest speaker at the Joy Conference. I wanted to connect with her because I really appreciate the mission she has in not only amplifying & uplifting women’s voices and stories but also that she is creating community through connecting with others.
Christina Singh is the Founder of Amplify Her Media and Host of the Amplify Her Podcast. Through both ventures, her goal is to uplift and amplify women's voices and stories. Christina started the Amplify Her Podcast in 2019 when she felt that the women around her were doing incredible work, making money, and looked like they had their lives together. So she bought a mic and started interviewing her community. This turned into interviewing more and more women, and she realized no one knows what they're doing. Christina's goal is now to create community through connection and sharing each other's stories. You can find more at www.amplifyhermedia.com

I’ve been thinking a lot about this recently. Especially when it comes to my ADHD journey. When my fear is met with love, it doesn’t seem so scary. In fact, I’ve now come to discover the many gifts my squiggly brain has to offer. Many of which, have now become my superpowers. Now I get it! When I am looking at it through the lens of love, I am making friends with my ADHD…ADHD is merely an extension and expression of who I am…and who I am is AMAZING! So I guess you could say, I’ve discovered a brand new amazing possibility in my life. What a relief! This awesome awareness has allowed me to step into my- SELF more and be more fully and truly ME. it’s no longer seen as a hindrance, but now one of my best qualities…one of my superpowers!

Hi. I’m Carmen Shields and I have ADHD and it's really hard for me to talk about. I got diagnosed for the first time at age 35. I sat on the diagnosis for about 5 months before I decided maybe I need some help navigating this phase of my life. Because the reality of it is... I've probably had it my whole life and never knew. It's been a struggle to talk about and I haven't really shared it with anyone even my family members. In this episode, I share part 1 of my story and hope it resonates with at least one person. Take what resonates and leave the rest!

As we’re children we are often told, “stop crying, don’t get angry, it’s ok don’t be sad, keep it to yourself.” We’re very rarely asked how we are feeling in that very moment, or told that it’s ok to feel all the feels and that we are safe. Little boys are taught not to cry because that would mean they are a sissy or too soft. “Toughen up boy and stop your crying,” is what some may have heard growing up. Then as adults, we begin to suppress all the “feels” even the negative ones because it’s just too hard, and if we allow our emotions to be felt we just couldn’t handle it.
These questions I borrowed from some close friends of mine and I wanted to share them with you
What situation feels uncomfortable in your life right now?
What emotions are you avoiding because they feel uncomfortable?
How would you like to feel in this situation instead?
How would you feel if you loved the emotions that you're experiencing right now?
Gently repeat to yourself “even though, I feel uncomfortable around this situation in life (name the situation), I still love & accept me”
These questions were created by Stephanie Virchaux&Kitty Gonzalez**

“When we spiritually surrender then our dreams can become reality. When we surrender, we allow the universe to catch up with her dreams.”
“When you think you’ve surrendered, surrender some more.” -Gabby Bernstein
It has come into my awareness that I’ve been consciously controlling something that is completely out of my control. I realized that my plan has been getting in the way of the universe’s plan. So then I go out into the world with this silent shame, and what I mean by that is, this controlling something that’s out of my control and I find myself projecting.
As women, we have the silent shame that nobody really sees or hears. It’s this unspoken shame that women carry around. “I’m not good enough, it’s not ever coming my way, I’m too old for this, I’m not worthy, I’m always judging myself.”
Gabby Bernstein puts it really well, she says, “We can’t show up with our agenda. We have to show up with grace.”
4 Steps to Spiritual Surrender by Gabby Bernstein
1) Take Your Hands off the Wheel. Let the Universe be in the Driver's seat
2) Turn over Time
3) Giving up the Outcome
4) Turn it over to the Holy Triangle/Holy Box

I heard this somewhere, and I can’t remember who said it, “When you change the way you look at things…the things you look at change.”
Today’s episode is about “I am willing to look at this differently” Shifting the way you look at things
I’m going to share a little bit about what was happening in my life last week..and get a little bit vulnerable and share my own perspective on when things are an annoyance or they’re frustrating at that moment, how can you pause for a moment and say to yourself “I’m willing to look at this differently” and how can I shift my perspective?
I invite you to connect with your SELF as much as you can. Because when it comes down to our HIGHER SELF, our higher self knows exactly what we need in the present moment. Take a moment to tune into your Intuition. And If you don’t know what that means that’s okay. Start out by asking yourself a question, “What does my soul need at this very moment?” How can I look at things differently?
99.9% of the time your intuition is leading you down the path that is meant just for you at the exact moment that you need it most. TRUST THAT!
2 questions that you can ask yourself
1) Are the expectations you have set for yourself realistic? And when you’re thinking about that question. Think about the expectations and ask yourself “How am I willing to look at this differently?”
2) Negative thoughts: Where is the proof this thought/these thoughts are true?

When we’re young we think things are permanent. We believe we have all the answers and no one can tell us any differently. When we age, we realize, nothing is.
I’ve realized not to take time with anyone for granted, especially the people I surround myself with…because they are the good ones for sure.
I worked for the El Paso County Advertiser/Fountain Valley News as an intern at age 17. It was actually my very first job and I called it my “job” even though I was just an intern.
I would work there 3 days a week during the school year and during the work week during the summer. And even though I was just an intern, I did get paid. So I took a lot of pride in working there as a young person. And I’m so very grateful I got to be a small part of this paper’s legacy. I got to write news articles and take photographs and I was even able to write my very own column, called "Carma's Classic" yes…it was so cool!
I wrote this column in hopes to reach the younger generation even though I knew for a fact the younger generation would not be reading a newspaper….because they probably got all the news they needed online or through social media. But even so
I learned so much and grew up so much during that time!
That was such a hard and challenging time in my life as a young person, and I could have gone down a very dark path during that time.
I am SO grateful to have found Patty St. Louis as a mentor during that time and to have become part of what we call the “newspaper family.” It really was a family business…not just calling it the newspaper family, but it was a family-run business for 65 years. Two sisters running the paper, with their mother being the owner for 65 years. So it was a very special thing to be a part of.
While I have yet to fully understand that my own life is far from permanent. I hope the lessons on their way in the near future go easy on me.
The end of an era, but a lifelong legacy I was able to have been a part of.

Nope not gonna. It’s just not my thing
Definition of Resolution:
A decision to do something or to behave in a certain manner. Conclusion, decision, determination. the act of making up your mind about something.
A measurement of the number of pixels -- picture elements or individual points of color. In practical terms, resolution describes the sharpness, or clarity, of an image or picture.
I really don’t like the cliche, “New Year New Me” to me, that’s pretty much a sales tactic people have come up with the promote their new program…whether it be to improve their health, their relationships, or a few different areas in their life they feel are out of control. To me…. “New Year New Me” isn’t really that appealing. It’s a bit exhausting to think about.
Why do we as humans feel the need to make a BIG change in our lives just because it is January 1st? How about we shift things around to say, “New year, and I’m excited to be Just Me” OR “New Year, and I chose to be the authentic Me” or "New Year, and Ima-gonna kick ass” just a few suggestions to replace the whole “New Year, New Me" cliche.
Yes, it is true that some people might feel like a different person compared to what they were a year ago….that’s totally normal to feel this way. I honestly feel different too…but that doesn’t mean that you have to spend the whole year, starting January 1st transforming yourself into an entirely “New You” Transformation is Hard sometimes, and it doesn’t just happen overnight. So that’s one of the main reasons I don’t create New Year’s Resolutions.
The Top 5 reasons I don’t Set New Year’s Resolutions
1) Resolution: The decision to do something or behave in a certain manner. It’s pretty much a waste of time, setting resolutions because by February 1st you feel like giving up.
2) Why do we as humans feel like the word is so Super meaningful on JAN 1st instead of just simply setting goals throughout the year?
3) My squiggly brain just can’t handle it. It’s a real challenge for me to set long-term goals without feeling anxious about it all. The word Resolution feels just WAY too heavy. I like to set goals and then do them in bite-size chunks.
4) My Stop doing list: it's pretty much the opposite of a New Years Resolution. Think of it as a "Letting go list"
5) Priorities: as a person with ADHD, my brain has a different level of thinking, processing, and prioritizing. Creating A resolution Jan 1st just isn't one of them
2023 is just around the corner. So let's stop feeling obligated to create a New Year's Resolution just because our coach told us we should start thinking about it now. Or our bestie said that they are creating a resolution and maybe you should too. All of that is pretty much BS if ya ask me.
Hip Hip Horray 2023 is nearly here. So Let's stop creating resolutions and just. Do. The. Damn. Thing!

I had a birthday a few weeks ago. While most people dread their birthday as it represents yet another year of aging…I absolutely LOVE Birthdays! When people ask me what my favorite holiday is…I usually reply with “my Birthday” even though I know it may not be a recognized holiday on the official calendar. I also love other people’s birthdays. All the magic and wonder that is discovered on this day of celebrating YOU.
In this episode, I’m sharing Birthday reflections and how I was diagnosed with ADHD this past summer. While I haven’t really talked much about it with many people I thought maybe I could open up, get a little vulnerable and talk about it here on my podcast…not for people to say, “Oh that must be so tough to live with” but rather to educate others and to normalize it. I think as humans, to be alive and living this crazy thing we call life, we should be talking about the hard things…not just only the rainbow & unicorn things.
To open up that door and let people know they aren’t alone and they can reach out to people they trust…to talk about it if they want to. Look, asking for help is not one of my strengths. But now I’ve found answers to questions I’ve wondered about for so long. Of why I sometimes feel so much time distortion and that I’m a bad person if I’m running late..or being afraid of asking for more time to complete a task. So when I decided I would look for a new therapist…I honestly was terrified. This year is going to be yet another journey of healing & discovery for me. Another fuckin’ growth experience. Another journey in my life where I get to call the shots and discover that ADHD is actually my superpower and I can use it to my advantage…I can create space for my different way of thinking and not feel bad about it. Where I become BFFs with my executive functioning skills and I’m no longer afraid of my to-do lists if they aren’t complete at the end of the day. Where I get to explore my creativity and make it work to my advantage. Because…I am FUCKING AMAZING!!

In this episode I chat about the 5 Reiki Myths, What is Reiki? and my own healing journey using Reiki.
What is Reiki?
Reiki aims to balance the body’s flow of energy to ease stress, promote relaxation, and support an individual’s health and well-being. Reiki is a way of channeling energy and balancing of the Chakras. It is used for stress reduction and relaxation. The overall experience of a Reiki session usually entails comfort, relaxation, feelings of peace, love, and clarity.
· This Japanese healing art works with the Human Energy System, amplifying the biological intelligence, which governs the body’s natural resources to heal. · Reiki operates within the premise that the chemistry of our being is deeply rooted in energy—always reflecting in the body, mind, and emotions.
· Reiki is a complementary and alternative therapeutic health service. It is a simple, natural, and safe method of holistic healing and self-improvement everyone can use.
5 Reiki Myths
1) Reiki is a Religion
Nope! It is not a Religion of any kind. It is not based on any particular religious doctrine. Reiki is spiritual in nature. The principle teachings of Reiki embrace a life of balance and promotes spiritual growth. Reiki does not infringe on anyone’s beliefs or personal values.
2) You need to believe in Reiki for it to work
You don’t actually need to believe in Reiki for it to work for you. All you need is to be open to allowing reiki to go where it is needed most for healing, and to the possibility that it might work.
3) Reiki is a type of Massage
Reiki is NOT massage therapy. Reiki is an energy-based therapy that does not involve manipulating bones or tissues. Reiki practitioners use a light touch with their hands on their clients’ bodies or will hover their palms over them.
4) Giving Reiki to others depletes the Reiki practitioner’s own energy
Since the Reiki Practitioner never uses their own energy, there is nothing to deplete. Healing energy from the source flows through the practitioner to the recipient as needed.
5) You Can’t Heal Yourself
Reiki practitioners or energy healers can (and do!) help people with a variety of needs, but that’s not the only way. Your energy is transformed and impacted – for better or worse – by your own thoughts and actions, not just by external means.

Yep. The business name showed up before I had an actual business plan. What is it called? Thanks for asking I’d love to tell you!
Discovering Amazing Possibilities, LLC. You’ll notice it’s the same as the title of this podcast. So yeah. That’s the exciting news. I am both excited and terrified at the same time. Am I crazy to start yet another business, not really knowing what’s to come??
Probably. But I have a new mantra I’ve borrowed from a friend of mine. You may have heard of her, Lina Gonzalez she was on the most recent episode of the show.
Visualize. Action. Manifest. Repeat.
I love this mantra so much right now because it keeps me accountable for doing at least one small thing daily for my business. Yes. One. Small. Thing.
Also….if you have an idea for a podcast episode or would like to come on the show email me at hello@iamcarmenshields.com

Today I am borrowing benefits from a podcast called Almost 30.
I heard these 8 tips on an amazing podcast called Almost 30and it was so so good I had to share them! Along with sharing my own AFGE of letting go of friendships in my own life.
1) Feel your emotions
⁃ Allow yourself to feel all the emotions. Create the space for yourself to feel all the “feels” Give yourself grace
2) Take accountability for the part that you played.
-Learn as many lessons as you can & Self-reflect. What part have you played in this situation and what has this shown you about yourself? What are some of the “soul lessons” you learned from this friendship? Your soul had a purpose in creating this friendship and your soul desired to learn at least one thing from this friendship. even if it wasn’t the “forever” type of friendship.
Seek to unlearn any habits you may have subconsciously picked up from previously toxic relationships or family members. Use it as a guide for where you’re repeating patterns in need of healing.
Take your time to process the situation. Heal on your own terms. Give yourself permission to take your time.
It’s ok to express how you feel to others. Some of us need support in order to process things. Give yourself permission to talk with others and process. Be sure to find someone who doesn’t know you both.
Be your own best friend! Do things by yourself that you would normally do with your friends. Get comfortable being in your own energy. You start attracting people who support you supporting yourself. Learn to be your Own Best Friend. How can you take the energy you’ve been pouring into others and call that energy back to yourself?
Keep your Heart Open. Don’t let the situation keep you from opening up your heart to new friendships when you feel ready to.
You might not always get an apology or an opportunity to talk about it. This can be the hardest part because you feel like you never got closure. You. Give. Yourself. Closure.
It's just another F***in' Growth Experience my friends.

Welcome to what I like to call "AFGE" Another Fuckin' Growth Experience in Your 30s.
And yes... I am creating a series of podcast episodes that are going to be featuring this very topic. Some are going to be solo episodes and some are going to be "chats" with people sharing their AFGE in their 30s. This spark of inspiration actually started while I had C*VD. I recorded my first AFGE episode.
Doing these chats with people is actually a growth experience for me. Up until this point, I've only done solo episodes. So NOW...I'm breaking out of my comfort zone and chatting with others about their own amazing possibilities they've discovered in their life. AND, even those Amazing Possibilities they have yet to discover.
So that's all. It's Just Another Fuckin' Growth Experience, my friends.

If the thought of lack or scarcity… whether it be money, recognition, or love has become a part of who you think you are, you may always experience lack & scarcity. Acknowledging the good that is already in your life is what creates a solid foundation of abundance.
Whatever you think the world is withholding from you, you are withholding from the world. You are withholding it because deep down you think you’re small and that you have nothing to give.
I invite you to try this on:
1) The source of abundance is NOT outside you. It is already a part of who YOU are. Start by acknowledging and recognizing the abundance without. See the fullness of life all around you!
2) The acknowledgment of that abundance that is all around you will then awaken the dormant abundance within. Let it flow out of you!
3) Ask yourself this question: “What can I give here; how can I be of service to this person, or this situation?”
4) Create a gratitude practice for all the abundance that is already in your life currently.
“Both abundance and scarcity are inner states that manifest as your reality.”
A New Earth Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose by Eckhart Tolle
If you are afraid of what abundance might mean to you in your life I invite you to consider this from the book The 5 Second Rule, by Mel Robbins:
“Courage is the ability to do things that feel difficult, scary, or uncertain.
It isn’t reserved for just a chosen few.
Courage is a birthright. It’s inside all of us and it’s waiting for you to discover it.
One moment of courage can change your day.
One day can change your life. And one life can change the world.
That’s the true Power of courage; it reveals you.
The greatest version of you.
Discover your courage, and you will be capable of accomplishing and experiencing anything you dream about.”

Welcome to what I like to call "AFGE" Another Fuckin' Growth Experience. I heard this on another podcast, called We Can do Hard Things with Glennon Doyle and today I am borrowing benefits. "What got us here is not going to get us out of here." Re: talking about Roe v Wade and reproductive rights. I was originally going to talk about Abundance Mindset, but something tells me there is something far more important to speak upon today. Just when you think the Earth had fallen off its axis and things had gone completely bonkers, humans always have an interesting way of proving us wrong. A couple of things to note in this episode & possible trigger warning: If you feel triggered in any way by this episode I would invite you to skip it and join us for the next one. 1) F'in Cvid. Period end of sentence. There's something about being sick with nothing to do but rest in bed & listen to a dozen different podcasts all day that allows you to look inward at your own world a bit differently. Shall we say, a whole new shift in perspective! 2) Roe v. Wade: I am outraged. I am devastated that in the United States we have gotten to this point. I am feeling all the feels while also feeling numb and nothing at all. I just don't have the mental capacity right now to process it all. 3) Back to the beginning of the episode: "What got us here is not going to get us out of here." That just about covers it. I hope I reached at least 1 person by sharing my message today with that one person who will listen :) Podcast reference: We can Do Hard things with Glennon Doyle * This podcast is part of the AmplifyHer Media Network www.iamcarmenshields.com IG @amazingpossibility Disclaimer** The concept What Else is Possible? is not something I created nor do I take credit for creating this concept. In the spirit of a different perspective, the podcast is shifting once again. As I was putting together this episode and listening to the intro, I found myself wondering “Why does it sound so rehearsed and structured? Why does it sound as if I am reading from a script?” Am I even connecting with the people listening? It just doesn’t feel like ME anymore. While I'm not always listening to my intuition, this time it tapped me on the shoulder and said, "You've outgrown the intro piece of the podcast, time for something new."
There’s a quote I heard before and I’m not really sure where it’s from but it says,
“When you change the way you look at things the things that you look at change." So here I am. Changing the way I'm looking at things.
Two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different. We all have a choice in how we view things. We all have a choice of perspective or point of view we want to take on. So any negative or positive point of view, that you’re putting into your words or actions is the type of energy you’re probably going to receive back. So what do we do?
How do we change this perspective? I invite you to try this on, “It’s just an interesting point of view”

The Grief Wilderness is your wilderness—completely unique to you and unique to your circumstances.
Your wilderness may be rocky or the path may be in a straight line.
You see we are all energetic and spiritual beings having this human experience called life. To have inner knowledge of what journey we are going to take through the Grief Wilderness as I like to call it, can often be a journey into the unknown. There will be some rocky terrain, trees so thick you cannot see through, and maybe even a few cliffs.
And through all that, do what brings you Joy. Create through the pain, even though it may sound counterintuitive. Just because you are grieving and lost in the Grief Wilderness does not mean you stop living. And I know, you are probably sitting here listening to this and thinking “Girl, you are out of your mind, and you have no idea what I am going through or how much I am suffering.” And you are absolutely right. I don’t. All I know is how I can share my journey through grief in the hopes of helping others see grief through a different lens.
You see here’s where my story of navigating through the Grief Wilderness begins. Creating through the pain did not come organically. What happened for me was the power of resilience, while also withdrawing from everyone and everything that made me feel safe. Creating through the pain made me feel safe during that time, and as a hurt and angry teenager, I could have gone down many paths that led to destruction and much more pain.
But instead….I created. I wrote poems about my pain. I created short stories and even wrote a column for a local newspaper. Sometimes I would have my poems published in the paper or read it aloud at a memorial service or funeral. Creating through the pain helped me process my grief in a way that many are not aware of. I could have very well chosen to stay hidden in my grief. But I chose to navigate through the Grief Wilderness. In creating through the pain, I am now able to share with others what I have experienced and learned.
Creating while navigation through the Grief Wilderness, can often be the last thing on someone’s mind, but it can in fact be very therapeutic.
Whatever it is you want to create—create whatever your heart is leading you towards. It can be as simple as creating a daily routine for yourself.
Now, I know…you’re probably saying, “Well, I’m not a very creative person.” That is the best part! You don’t have to be a creative person. You can create a brand new YOU and all you need is inspiration. Whatever you draw inspiration from, pay attention to that. Surround yourself with the people you know will support, encourage, and cheer you on no matter what It is my hope that something here, might just be the spark that leads you around the corner and back to yourself—the new version of YOU.
*Trigger Warning* In this episode we talk about the Grief. This is in no way medical or mental health advice. Please seek the help of a mental health professional/counselor if you feel you need help.

Maybe you’ve held on to old habits for dear life. Perhaps these habits have served you well. They’ve kept you safe. BUT….those old habits no longer serve you. They are no longer a contribution to your Highest and Greatest Good
Here are a few things I've learned about habits:
Let go of those habits that no longer serve YOU. You can ask yourself this question:
“Are these habits a contribution to my Highest and Greatest Good? OR do I choose them because they have kept me safe and comfortable and choosing a new habit would be scary and out of my comfort zone?"
YOU have the choice! You have the choice to let these old habits go OR you have the choice to choose to let these old habits consume you.
Letting go of the old makes room for the new. Letting go of those old habits makes way for a magnitude of personal growth and development.
Choose to be engaged in things that are Life Giving AND that are going to be supporting your own personal growth.
Change can be a real challenge. But when you realize what you’ve chosen….you’ve chosen to make space for new habits that will contribute to your growth and personal growth it becomes something to look forward to.
Now that you've released those old habits and made space for the new habits, What else is possible?
Amazing things are possible!
Here’s the thing about habits:
They are neither GOOD nor BAD. Habits allow you to Grow. Allow you to change. Allow you to make mistakes along the way.
Perhaps you have what are called “Learned” habits. Maybe you have habits that you, yourself have created. Either way, you always have the choice to shift these habits. It takes time. It takes patience. Whatever journey you are on, love that journey.
Release those old habits with Love. With Light. With Gratitude. Let those habits know, “I see you. I hear you. Thank you for keeping me safe, but you are no longer needed. I GOT THIS! I have all the tools I need. All the support. All the love and light. I can take care of myself now."

Boundaries. This is a very interesting topic indeed! Here's some food for thought. Are you someone who has a challenge creating boundaries? What are some of the areas in your life where you have created boundaries? Are these boundaries somehow putting a limit on the life you truly desire and want to create for yourself? Do you set too many or too few boundaries? No judgment here. Just simply asking these questions to get you thinking. How can you put those boundaries in place and start saying NO more to things that don't light you up and YES more to things that do? What else is possible? When you start saying NO to people/things. When you start saying NO to others you begin to say YES to your SELF and answer what your soul needs and craves. Creating boundaries can in fact help you to create more possibilities in all areas of your life. What Amazing Possibilities have you not considered in your life today?

When you invest in your soul's growth you're investing in the expansion of the Universe.
What is your Soul calling you to do? Do you hear your soul calling to you but you're not really listening? What is one thing that you can do each day to propel you outside your comfort zone? Can you visualize this "one thing a day?" What does it look like? What does it feel like?
Sometimes in order for our Soul to grow, we have to give the HOW over to the Universe. Even when it doesn't even make sense. Even if people might not understand it or do the same because they aren't vulnerable enough to take that next step.
Assemble your support team! Your tribe that will support, encourage you, and love you unconditionally. Choose wisely. If you don't know who they are yet, send a request out to the Universe to send them to you!
So.....what is your Soul calling you to do? What else is Possible and what Amazing Possibilities have you not considered in your life today?

This is going to be a very short and sweet episode, but I hope the message is just as inspirational.
You were Born Knowing.
Whatever you are called to do in this life, whatever your purpose is in this life you are in the exact place that you need to be to answer that calling. So follow whatever it is that lights you up! Deep down you already know what you long for. What your soul yearns for. There's nothing more to discover about yourself, but instead... more things to uncover about yourself. You don't need to know the whole plan or where it is leading you or even how it's going to show up. Just take the next step. Forget about the outcome and forget about the plan. You do not need permission from anyone else…Even if you fail at least you did something. I once saw a quote that said, “the only way to fail is to do nothing at all.”
So give yourself permission to take the next right step. Do the hard thing. Challenge yourself when no one else will. Do the thing! Do it messy and do it anyway. Now, I realize some people don’t always have that luxury but you can even start with something small. Whatever that is. Whatever truly lights you up and gets you outta bed. Connect with that one thing that lights you on fire and do the damn thing. Because honestly, it really starts and ends with YOU! No one else is going to make it happen for you. No one else is going to take that next right step and no one else knows what that next right step is except for you. So follow your intuition even when it doesn’t make sense and take the next right step. Your intuition will never lead you down the wrong path because You were BORN knowing!

We are often ignoring the deep knowing in our hearts distracting ourselves from our deepest truth. We get out of alignment and flow because we are afraid of taking action. Maybe we take action. Maybe we don’t. As humans, we always want to know the why, the where, the how, and all the answers before taking the leap of faith and the next step. We want to know with certainty what the results will be. I invite you to consider this. When you get out of your own way and into the flow, following your inner guidance, giving up the need to know, things start to happen and show up in your life beyond anything you could ever imagine! You know those amazing possibilities I’m always talking about? Yep, those. They start to become reality and show up in ways you never imagined. What would it feel like if you were truly open to all possibilities no matter how big or small? What amazing possibilities have you not considered in your life today?

Intuition: The ability to understand something immediately without the need for conscious reasoning.
Do you connect with your intuition on a regular basis? What is your intuition telling you? Do you listen to your intuition, or is your rational thought mind so loud you can’t hear your intuition? There’s no right or wrong answer to this.
So many people go their whole lives never tapping into their intuition and that’s totally fine. Most people don’t even realize they have the intuition or have the tools to connect with it. The key thing here is your intuition never leads you in a direction that is wrong for you. A majority time your intuition is about connecting with your higher self and it is always looking out for you to contribute towards your higher and greater good.
So, have you connected with your intuition today? And, what amazing possibilities have you not considered in your life today?

Are you creating a life of Love and Amazing Possibilities? Are you doing things you love and that bring you PURE JOY? Or are you living your life out of necessity and routine? There's nothing wrong with that, I'm just asking you these questions to perhaps bring these questions into your greater awareness.
This episode is going to be short and sweet. Sometimes some of the most inspiring podcasts I've listened to have shorter episodes. Not that I don't have very much to say, or that I even like to listen to myself talk.
What inspires some people, might not inspire others. My hope for this episode is that you take what resonates and leave the rest.
So....are you creating a life you truly desire? And if you had to power to change anything in your life what would it be? Whatever perspective you have, I invite you to ask yourself What Else Is Possible?

"Life isn't about finding yourself, life is about creating yourself." -Unknown "If you're creative, you will never run out of adventures." -Unknown You ARE Creativity. Even if you do not feel or believe that you are a creative person. You are a form of creativity. Simply from the fact, you are a human being created and put on this earth to create something. Anything, really. So Create! Anything your heart desires. A brand new you. Write. Sing. Dance. Draw. Take a class. Or if none of this appeals to you, create something that you know in your heart will make an impact on someone. Create! When no one is looking. Create! When your heart is heavy and you feel no one is listening. Dig deep! Challenge yourself when you feel that spark of inspiration. Reconnect with that part of yourself you felt was dormant while navigating through the wilderness. Reignite with that spark and set it on fire! In this episode, I share a personal journey of my creative flow and how I was inspired to “Create through the pain.” I could have gone down a very destructive and dark path during that time but instead, I anchored myself to my creative flow and created something new. It was my way of processing all the grief. While the grief was very strong at the time, discovering my flow of creativity made each day a little easier. I feel my purpose in life is to be creative or be a creator of something leaving others better than I found them. It brings a smile to my face not only because I enjoy the visual aspect so much but because growing up, I truly believed that I could do anything in life. And I still believe that today! Being creative sometimes was my way of protecting myself from all the harsh external elements out there in this crazy world. Being creative gave me a sanctuary and a place of safety. Being creative feeds my soul and it really helped me get out of a very dark time in my life where I was lost and had not many places or people to turn to. I guess it’s a form of therapy for me. A way to process grief.

As humans, we are all so concerned about going here and going there. Doing this or doing that. It is our nature to speed things up, check things off our "to-do" list, and get those daily tasks accomplished otherwise we have completely and utterly failed for the day. Not only does this not really help with focusing on being "in the present moment" we also tend to be checked out of reality in a sense, because we are so busy "getting things done." The day passes us by and we forget to give ourselves a little bit of compassion and grace and feel gratitude towards the things we did get accomplished throughout the day.
SO....what if we challenged ourselves a bit and focused on BEING instead of GOING and DOING all of the time? What if we challenged ourselves to do all the things we have to do on our daily to-do list and SLOW down the process in a more impactful way? What else is possible? What amazing things will show up, and what will pop up into our awareness that we otherwise wouldn't have considered before?
I've been part of this amazing group challenge called 75 SLOW. 75 days of slow practices that you can incorporate in your daily life without having to check off any other to-dos on your list.
Here's what I've Learned so far in Being Slow:
First of all, one of my favorite animals is the Sloth. Not only are they cute and cuddly but they have the right idea about moving slowly. There's nowhere to be right now. Just chill for a bit and enjoy the experience...
I am a little bit halfway through the challenge. It has not been an easy thing to do...shifting my mindset from "GO GO GO" to "SLOW SLOW SLOW." You see 75 SLOW isn't about going slow, but rather engaging with yourself, slowing down in whatever it is you are already doing, and experiencing life at it is, in the moment. There have been days when I have been so utterly grateful to have each practice to try and it has really helped slow down my thoughts, or the monkey chatter as I like to call it. And then, there have been days where I have been like, "Oh great another practice, habit etc. I need to have in my life because it is good for me blah, blah, blah. You see when I went into the negative headspace, I was then able to use one of the practices, and then re-direct myself to the present moment. To feel immense gratitude for this beautiful and wonderful life I have, and that I have all the tools I need to reconnect, engage and experience my life as it is in the present moment. The best part about 75 Slow, is there is nothing to DO here just to BE. To be in the present moment and experience as much as you can, and make it a lifestyle.
So I invite you today. Try something SLOW. Anything really. Start small, and then see what shows up. What else is possible? And...what amazing possibilities have you not considered in your life today?
Quotes from the 75 Slow website:
"This is not a challenge about conquering yourself, your goals, or about “achieving” anything."
"This is an invitation to engage with yourself, slow down, and experience life as it is, in THIS moment."
"Because your value doesn’t come from what you can produce. Your value comes from who you are - there is nothing to force or to prove."

2) Lighten up. Don't take life so seriously. Humor goes a long way.

Just a little bonus episode for the end of 2021. This year is starting to wrap up and I must say, it was a doozie! do people even say that word anymore? I must be channeling the "old school" version of Carmen lol. I have a few choice words for 2021, but I think I'll save that for another place and time that is more appropriate. Anyway, I decided to record this episode about What Else is Possible & New Year Intentions, with the intention of not giving any hacks, tips, or tricks on how to create or set intentions. But rather, this episode is mostly me sharing what doesn't work for me when it comes to creating (or not creating) New Years Resolutions, intentions, vision boards, etc. you get the idea. Honestly, none of those creative and catchy titles resonate with me. But instead, what if you asked yourself the question, What Else is Possible? and then set the intention of being in the flow of the question...Whatever flow looks like to you, it will look different for each person. What feels light? Do I really want to say YES to this? or does it feel more like a HELL NO? Sit with your body and feel into the question. Feel into what magical things/people/situations show up. As a child, I always looked forward to the magic of the holiday season. So many wonderful traditions we had. Sure, I protested putting up any decorations or the tree before my Birthday. But the many traditions we had, I remember fondly. The decorating of the tree, hanging of the stockings, and baking of Christmas cookies. Now as an adult, some of those traditions have faded and some have shifted into new ones. What I continue to love is the feeling of the Christmas magic. The What Else is Possible? magic. Now, I know it’s not only during the Christmas Season when miracles show up. So I ask you today, What else is Possible? And what amazing possibilities have you not considered in your life today?

Something occurred to me as I was going through some extreme abdominal pain, which come to find was an ovarian cyst. What occurred to me is this….everything going on in your body is energetically connected to something else. Whether that be mental, physical, emotional, or spiritual. You see, we are all spiritual beings living this human experience called life. The mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual pieces of what it means to be human are all connected and when one is out of alignment, after some time the other one eventually follows. It’s a great reminder that we are “human beings” not “human doings” and we all could use a little energetic re-alignment once in a while. What else is possible? Hello Beautiful Souls and welcome to my podcast! Today I'm starting anew. Fresh. Inspired. ME being ME and no one else. We are all unique human beings living this thing we call life. Perhaps we are even Spiritual Beings living this Human experience called Life. What if we took that a step further? Pausing for a moment asking ourselves, "What Else is Possible?" Really bringing the question to the forefront of our consciousness without having to seek out any answers. So here's an invitation to you. To ask yourself the question, What Else is Possible? Choose Joy! Get curious! ask the question What Else is Possible and then see what shows up!

*Disclaimer*** The concept "What Else is Possible?" is not something I created nor do I take credit for creating this concept. It is based on a concept I learned on my own journey of self-discovery, and have taken with me as a tool that has been a contribution to me in my life today.
We are all a work in progress. What if we took that a step further to pause for a moment and ask ourselves, What else is Possible? Would we look at our lives with a different perspective?
