Two regular guys talking regular sports with regular stats. We don't go deep into off the wall stats that they have on the major networks. It's like the conversations that you would have with friends at your house, a party, a bar, etc. We might be slightly biased for some teams, but so is everyone else.
NCAA week 2 was great. Texas upset Alabama. Colorado beat Nebraska. Saturday did not disappoint. NFL week 1 did not disappoint. Browns and Falcons won. We go into all games from this past weekend. Plus go deep into college recruiting.
This is the Patriots Randy Moss Episode! NCAA football is back and NFL is a week away. We got a glimpse of USC over the weekend and ready for all of the big games this weekend. How do we feel about the top 10 and how it will play out this season? With preseason over, we talk who we liked, didn't like, and sleepers. Plus talk projections and Trey Lance to the Cowboys.
The NFL is back even if it is just the preseason. Its good to see the sport we love back on tv. Falcons and Browns looked good in their respective games, even though the Browns lost. We talk about what we saw from this past weekend, good and bad. Plus predict records this season. On a side note, James Harden is big mad. We think it is nothing and could be for the better for both parties.
For the first time, we talked about all 3 major leagues. Starts with the trade deadline ending and how we think the Braves did. Move onto our cliffhanger from last week: Jaylen Brown and the Celtics. How will that big contract work going forward? We round out with the NFL. What is going on with all of these injuries in the NFL? They aren't even playing with pads on.
Lionel Messi is apart of the MLS. Tickets are through the roof, and the league will become much more entertaining. The Braves are rolling right along. With the trade deadline coming up, what have they done and what will they do? Ohtani is the biggest story right now. Where will end up? Who will trade for him? Will he leave in free agency? We talk about all of this.
Deandre Hopkins finally made a decision and it is the Tennessee Titans. Its an interesting choice, but makes sense. We give our takes and talk more NFL. What is going on with these running backs, and why have they not been paid?
As promised, we talk about our beloved Braves. We have the best record in the MLB and look like it. The team looks unstoppable. We talk about what we've seen so far this season.
NBA free agency has gotten interesting. Many moves have been made that will make the league look very interesting come the start of the season. Which teams made the best and worst moves?
The NBA season hasn't been over a month and new storylines have already begun. Chris Paul to the Warriors, Bradley Beal to the Suns, and Marcus Smart to the Grizzlies. These will make for some interesting teams next season. We talk on our feelings behind this.
The Nuggets have defeated the Heat in 5. It is slightly bittersweet. The Heat fought, but the Nuggets were better and they deserve this championship. What will the Heat do now? Is Jokic the best player in the league? Will Dame go to the Heat? We discuss all of this and then some.
Episode 73 aka the Joe Thomas Episode. Hall of Fame left tackle. One of the greatest to ever do it. Because of him, the guys started with the NFL. Deandre Hopkins is a free agent and where he will go is a mystery. The guys talk about their favorite landing spots for him. The guys switch to NBA and talk about how the Heat beat Denver in Game 2 and Kyrie's pitch to Lebron.
Miami beat the Celtics in 7 and now on the way to the NBA Finals. The Nuggets are going to be tough to beat for Miami, but all we can do is hope for a good series. The guys talk about what happened in the ECF and how Miami stacks up against Denver.
What a week of upsets in college football. Ohio State goes down, LSU goes down, and Clemson goes down. These upsets came at the right time to set the championship games and give us a better look at the playoff picture.
The Browns survived 11 games and the day we have all been waiting for comes up this week. The boys are ready for this one.
USA beats Iran and we move out of the group stage in the World Cup! This is a huge deal for all of us. Netherlands is up next.
The Big 5-0! We never thought we would have made it this far, but here we are. Just a heads up, this is the longest episode we have ever done. We start today with our boys in Qatar. We are pumped that the US is in the World Cup. We did not win, but we had a draw against Wales. We venture our way into college football and how the playoffs stack up. Then, as usual, we finish off with the NFL.
The Bulldogs did it again with a win over the Bulldogs. They are the best team in the NCAA, and we do not believe there is anyone who can beat them.
Browns and Falcons lose. One lost in high heat and the other lost in a monsoon. The bigger story is which was the better catch: OBJ or Justin Jefferson?
A whole lotta college football talk this week. Georgia beat Tennessee and went right back to number 1. The guys talk how the playoffs might stand by the end of the season and why we should go to 12 games rather than 4.
Two theories are discussed in length today: The Carolina Panthers Theory and The Gib Terwilliger Hair Theory. They are very interesting and may blow your mind.
Big wins for both sides and both were divisional wins. Browns beat the Bengals and the Falcons beat the Panthers. All is well and happy with the Average Guys today. Myles Garrett is a freak of nature and Nick Chubb has very large legs. Falcons sit at #1 in the NFC South but almost let Carolina go from fourth to first.
We are out talking college football along with the NFL. How do we see the top 10? What do we think the final four will be? Plus we have a live reaction to the new AP poll. It is not what we expected, but Jay loves it.
Over the course of two weeks, we have seen only one positive as a pair: the Falcons beating the Niners. Outside of that it has been the NLDS loss for the Braves, back to back losses for the Browns, and a loss to the Bengals for the Falcons. Gib is very upset and so is Jay but he gets a laugh from Gib's anger.
What should the Braves do in the offseason? Where did the Browns go wrong? How did the Falcons get beat that bad? The guys talk about it all.
What a weekend and start to the week. All three of our favorite teams got beat in either a close manner or a bad call aka the Falcons. There is frustration in the NFL losses, but positives to look at with the Braves loss.
NFL was another weekend with ups and downs. Blowouts and upsets. We talk about how it all played out.
WARNING: This is a long episode.
Falcons won, Browns lost. Gib is not happy and Jay just rubs it in his face. 4 years of bragging rights. That game is the bulk of the conversation. They still go through the rest of the NFL.
In the Braves world, we swept the Mets!! It was a big win for them and took them a step closer to winning the NL East. Update: Braves won the NL East! They will talk about that next week and what they think of the upcoming postseason.
NFL is like the gift that keeps on giving. Falcons and Browns are winners this week so both guys are happy. Bills and Dolphins was crazy. Does that make Miami the best team in the league? How does the rest of the league stack up in rankings after this week?
We fully devoted this one to NFL like we said. Well, kinda. Gib mentioned the Braves and a hot take about Alabama.
Falcons and Browns did not look to good. The guys voice their frustrations and there are plenty of them. They explain what they saw and how the games ended.
Football weekends are fully back! Saturdays for college and Sundays for NFL. We talk how college football stacked up this past weekend. The good and the bad.
NFL is here! We focus on our Falcons and Browns, but still look at what we liked and didn't like over the weekend.
The big 4-0. We talk about how the Braves are chasing the Mets and how we know we will win the NL East. The new Baby Braves are killing it and helping the Braves roll right along.
College football Saturdays are back! Lots of games and even a few upsets already. Georgia put the hurt on Oregon. Gib frustrates Jay with a Stetson Bennett take.
Episode 39! The Minkah Fitzpatrick episode or Larry Csonka depending on how far back you go in football history. Braves are moving right along. They are playing great, but we still have our frustrations and air them out.
As usual, Gib has a Baker rant along with our NFL talk.
Last but not least, KD made his decision to stay in Brooklyn.
Gib said Episode 37, but it is actually Episode 38! Braves beat the Mets in back to back games and on an 8 game winning streak. We love every minute of it.
NFL preseason is in and Jay is loving every minute of it. He has been glued where as Gib is slacking. How does Jay feel about these teams?
Training camp is in full swing and we are getting closer to preseason. Baker is looking good in practice, Kareem wants out, and the OBJ saga continues. Where will he go?
KD gave the Nets an ultimatum: me or the coach and GM. How is this going to end?
Finally, WHY CAN'T WE BEAT THE METS?!?!? Our Braves were rolling right along and now its heartache.
6 games. That is all he got. Deshaun Watson will suit up for the Cleveland Browns on Week 7 ready to take down the Ravens! How will the NFL respond to this ruling?
Juan Soto to the Padres??? That makes for quite the shake up. Not enough to phase our Braves though.
We took a week off, but back to doing what we love. It is the KD episode so of course we start with him. Where will he go? Is he a good fit for the Celtics? What will the Nets get?
The NFL season is getting closer and closer. Training camps have started. Julio is on the move and Jay loves/hates it. Kyler got a strange clause in his contract. No Deshaun Watson ruling, but we have to be getting close.
The Braves are on a roll! Even though we lost the series to the Mets, we are still looking good. We talk about our beloved Braves and tell you what we think about them currently and the rest of the season.
NBA free agency has cooled down and hinges on one man: Kevin Durant. We talk about where he could go and should go. It could get crazy again once he makes up his mind.
NBA free agency has started and things are getting crazy. Massive contracts, overpaying for players, and potential trades that could shake up the league. Many role players have either moved or resigned, which is expected. The big story that we needed: where will KD and Kyrie go? We let you know our takes.
NBA free agency is upon us. The NBA draft happened and now we wait to see what free agency brings us. Will there be any big moves? What do we think will happen?
Baker and Watson. Do they bring Baker back while Watson is suspended or leave it how it is?
Warriors win in 6! We were right. Jay was right the whole time, but Gib came around. Now that the season is over, what moves will be made? We give our thoughts on what could happen and what should happen.
Braves are going strong. 14 game winning streak was amazing even though we dropped 2 to the Cubs to end it. We still love our Braves though.
Boy we have ourselves a series here. 3-2 after 5 games. Will our prediction be right of Warriors in 6? Can they go close out the series in Boston? We give our predictions on it.
Braves are on a hot streak. 12 game winning streak (Gib said 11) and working on 13 as we were recording. Let's see how far this can go!
NBA Finals are among us! Possibly 7 games to determine who wins it all. Right now it is at least 5. Jay and Gib both believe it will be the Warriors, but how do they feel about that Game 1 loss to the Celtics? Do any predictions change here? Maybe a little trash talking rights are among us.
The guys talk about the current status of Deshaun Watson and the new information that has come out. Baker also gets sprinkled in there as usual.
The NBA Finals are set! Warriors vs Celtics. Who will come out on top? Who do we think it will be. The conference finals were great (mainly in the East), but we have been waiting for this since October. Who do Jay and Gib think will win it all?
Episode 27! Had a week off due to Gib's travels all over the place, but here nonetheless with more for you. We start with the Braves. We love them but they are frustrating like the Falcons and Browns. We still have hope and always will.
We are down to the Conference Finals. Who was right in our past predictions and whose predictions will come true? Jay is on it today and is not having Gib's shit. Who will make it to the Finals?
We are back after a week off! We pick up where we left off and start with the draft. Who are the winners and losers? How did we feel that Cleveland and Atlanta did?
Playoff basketball is getting interesting. Jay is petty and says I told you so to Gib. How will the rest play out and who will make it to the Conference Finals? We let you know our takes.
Episode 25!!! It has been a great ride so far with more to come. Its a landmark for us and we are proud of it.
This episode we talk about more playoff basketball. We talk about how everything is playing out since Episode 24 and where we see it going. What happened to Brooklyn? How will Giannis deal with the Celtics (assuming they beat the Bulls)? Will the Pelicans upset the Suns? Will the Sixers be upset by the Raptors?
Episode 24 or the Kobe Episode as we call it. Its all about the NBA Playoffs. We talk how the current playoff landscape is after the first round of games. Who will get swept? Who will have an interesting series? Will a top team get upset? We have our predictions for those. Be ready because Jay goes off in this episode. The NBA playoffs is his favorite time of the year.
What an episode we have. Gib is all fired up on Browns and NBA while Jay tries to bring him back to Earth.
Where do the Rams keep getting all this money? How can they sign all these big name players?
What does he NBA landscape look like now that the regular season is over? We take our picks on the play in games and how we think the playoffs will start.
Today is NBA today with some other mentions in there.
What is going on with the Lakers? Officially out of the playoffs. This season was a disaster. We talk about it and give our thoughts. Who is the MVP? Who will come out of the East and West?
Let's go Tiger! Win the Masters for the 6th time!
Congrats to the US Men's National Team on qualifying for the World Cup!
Deshaun Watson went to the Browns! We talk about how it affects the AFC North and the AFC as a whole. Where will Baker end up? What are the possible suitors?
How do the Falcons deal with Matt Ryan moving and Mariota coming in to take the starting job? Are they a wash for this season or a potential Wild Card in the weak NFC?
We give our takes on all of this and more.
NFL free agency is wild this year. Big moves have been made and more are going to happen over the next few days. We talk about our thoughts of what is going on.
The main news is what is going on with Deshaun Watson? There are many places he could go. The Browns and Falcons are now both contenders so next week could get interesting as one could rub it in the face of the other.
What a week it has been in the NFL. Rodgers stays in Green Bay, Wilson to the Broncos, and Wentz to the Commanders. What else will we see in the coming weeks. We are looking forward to it as much as you are.
The NBA regular season is getting closer to the end and we are seeing who will be where in the standings. Who will take the East? The West? MVP? We give you our takes. Some might be surprised.
The quarterback carousel is about to begin in the NFL. Where will Rodgers go? Where will Wilson go? Will Jimmy G be traded? We give you our thoughts on what we think will happen.
What is going on with the Lakers? What should Lebron do and should a team trade for Lebron? How does Jay feel about his Lakers? Listen and find out!
What a great Super Bowl! It was a great game but makes us sad that football is over until September. We talk the Super Bowl, OBJ, Matt Stafford, Lakers, Nets, and much more. We also had to throw something about the Browns and the Falcons in there.
What a weekend for football. Both games were great. Hell, the past two weekend have been great. We discuss over views on the Brian Flores case, how the AFC and NFC championship games went. Of course, we had to talk about the retirement of the GOAT.
Back in action after a month hiatus. We dive in and talk about all of the football we watched but did not talk about over the past month. We have our Super Bowl predictions as well. Also, Go Dawgs!
We were out a week for the holidays but no worries, we have plenty in store for you. NCAA football, NFL, NBA. The works. Georgia will win and we all know it. Go listen and see what you think!
It is a sad day for the Average Guys. Cleveland and Atlanta got beat bad. We will recover. We talk AFC, NFC, MVP, DPOY, and Myles Garrett on the basketball court. Then a take on what is going on in the NBA so far this season.
So the OBJ saga finally comes to an end. Out of Cleveland and back to LA all in one week. I wonder how that will play out. What is happening so far in the NBA? Lakers are not what we expected and Warriors are back on top. Shout out to another Atlanta team. The Atlanta United are in the playoffs. Let's see how far they go!
Congratulations Atlanta Braves! World Series champs for the first time since 1995. Atlanta is a proud city right now.
What is going on in Cleveland with OBJ? Where will he go when he leaves? We talk about the NFL and what all is going on.
October is the best month out of the year for sports. We get the playoffs and World Series in baseball, the start of basketball, and football is in full swing. We talk about our love for the Braves and what is going on in the NBA and NFL.
The NFL never fails with news and updates. We look at the new details about the Deshaun Watson trade rumors. Week 6 in the NFL had some surprises and showed us more of who is great, good, and bad. The NBA season has started and we talk about the first two games and make some predictions based on what we saw.
After a long break we are back with a new look. We get caught up with the NBA from last season and talk what is going on in the news today. Main focus here is the NFL. We are right in the heart of the season and loving every minute of it. Plus, Gib has a whole rant about his quarterback in Cleveland. He still backs him but is frustrated.
WE ARE BACK! After a few month hiatus because of quarantine and sports being on hold, we finally go back in front of the mic.
The main topic to start with has to be that Mahomes. As we and Marshawn Lynch always say, "Gotta protect ya chicken!" We make our way into the other exciting topic of Brady to the Bucs. It was one of the choices we talked about but wasn't our favorite. Our rants in getting carried away with the NFL happen too.
The NBA is back in action. We give our predictions on the first two games and how they will play out. How will the teams stack up? We touch on how the Lakers and Clippers will match up and how the stack against the other teams. As usual our rants take us in all directions to every team in the NBA.
Have a listen! We look forward to putting out more episodes consistently.
With this Coronavirus shutting down most sports, we still have one major topic: NFL Free Agency. Why did DeAndre Hopkins get traded to the Cardinals? How does everything change with a big quarterback shuffle? The NFC South will be different with Teddy Bridgewater and Tom Brady in it now. Philip Rivers and Nick Foles round out the quarterbacks who have new teams. The other large free agency question that hasn't been resolved: Where will Cam Newton go?
This week we focused the most on NBA. Lebron had a big weekend and showed the world he is still the best player in the league. We talk how he compares to Giannis in the MVP race, how the Lakers stack up in the league, and how they now compare to the rest of the league for the playoffs.
We switch over to how our rookies and young players are doing this year and what trade rumors should and should not happen.
Here we go again! On this episode we talk about the NFL Draft. We give our ideas on where the top players will go in the draft and the big topic: Tua vs Burrow. We finish out the show in the NBA. Where do the teams stack up in the East and West and how far will they go?
Glad to see you came back! On this episode we only cover a couple topics. We start off with the QB carousel that is going to happen in the NFL. Where will the old veterans go? Will the young guys stay at their respective teams or move on? How much with this shake up the league?
Venture back over to the NBA. With a great showing at Portland but still only a few games to assess, what should we expect out of Zion for the rest of the season and for years to come?
The last of the main topics is how three players scoring 25+ ppg got snubbed from the All Star game. THese are Bradley Beal, Devin Booker, and Zac Lavine.
Welcome back! This is Episode 2 of the Average Guys' Sports Takes. In this show, we start with the outcome of the Super Bowl and how both teams played. We transition into the NBA. Big trades just happened across the league and we talk about how the affect the league. After a year and a half, we discuss how the Luka Doncic-Trae Young trade worked out for both teams. We go through the league and how they stack up against each other with the playoffs getting closer. We close out the show with our Super Bowl predictions and how the MVP race stacked up.
