This is another episode for the dreamers and believers. In the last episode, Dre spoke about commitment to one's dreams. Choosing to "stay asleep" instead of opting into waking up to reality and making "more practical" decisions. In today's episode, Dre explores the concept of betting on one's self and how that works together, with that commitment, to make dreams come true. Others will bet on you too, but not before you bet on yourself, do the necessary work, and surrender to the process. The divine will bring what's mine (yours). Are you ready to claim it? Dre bets that you are.

Today's episode is an expansion of a previous conversion, spurred by a series of tweets questioning friendship and community. Community - noun - a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals. Dre uses these tweets to stretch out the conversation in a practical application fashion.

Dating can be pretty challenging. Especially when you aren't clear on who you are and what you want out of a partner/relationship experience. Or worse, if you're confident in what you want out of a relationship, but may not be experiencing that because you're settling and compromising on your closely held beliefs and values. This episode continues Dre's exploration into discourse and possibly even drama surrounding dating, romance, and relationships. Dre explores the dissonance from essentially dating in opposition of yourself and your desires, and how that's a recipe for disaster. This is a date that you don't want to miss.

Dating can be pretty challenging. In fact, it can be incredibly difficult, or downright hard. There's so many factors at play, both internal and external, many of which are outside the realm of one's control. This episode will kickstart an exploration into discourse and possibly even drama surrounding dating, romance, and relationships. Dre explores the ideology behind serenity in solitude, the loneliness of dating when you're healing and growing, and why some people might forgo it all for the sake of peace. The fact of the matter is, sometimes our expectations and timetables with regard to our lives keeps us from seeing the reality of our situations. Our perceptions are skewed, and while we may be able to see what we lack, sometimes we can't clearly see what we still have. What we may have gained in the process. Dre explores the concept of expectation and dissonance with our lives in this episode. After all, you could be an inspiration to generations behind you even at 25. Even if you feel like you're behind your peers. Behind the curve. Behind the 8 ball.

Community - noun - a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals. What has happened to community? To the village mindset? The proverb is "It takes a village to raise a child". A proverb that rings true day in and day out. Prompted by a conversation held over TikTok live (shout out to Abigail & Ayla), Dre teases out some concepts concerning community in this episode. After all, everyone wins when the community wins. Though, it seems like that may have been forgotten.

This episode might be, or feel, a little different previous ones. There’s a search for answers regarding the phenomenon that Dre is calling “the return”. Where old flames, potential lovers, would be friends, and more seemingly return to one’s life. A sudden, wild, resurgence of a person from the past, who doesn’t want to be forgotten, but does nothing to ensure they can be pulled into the present. In this episode, Dre ponders the question of “why”. Why do people do that? Why don’t they just directly reach out, especially when the line of communication is open? What is the purpose and the end goal? Feel free to call in, email, or DM your thoughts and help expand this conversation. And, in the eloquent words of Dre, don’t piss me off.

Humans are emotionally tethered beings. It's a part of our nature. It's why things can be said or done that cause us to act instinctively, out of emotion, without taking a second to stop and think. Why don't we stop for a moment and reflect? That's the question that Dre poses with today's episode. Dre discusses the epiphany and clarity that comes from taking a moment to reflect instead of instinctually acting off of emotion each and every time. Genocide is happening in the modern day, right before our very eyes. Atrocities and inhumane acts are being committed and one would think that all we could do is watch, unblinkingly, while it occurs. The road to liberation never seems to be easy, but nevertheless, it is made up of many paths and avenues. In today's episode, Dre explores the different paths available to us when doing liberation work. We are not all foot soldiers, field medics, or financial backers. Some of us are digital advocates, historians, educators, or artists. Dre explores all of these ideas, linking them back to the very real world example of genocide taking place in the Middle East, as well as domestic examples and opportunities that can be engaged with on an almost regular basis.

There's an age old adage that says "It takes a village". Presumably, the original context is in relation to raising children/family building. However, that sentiment rings true and works in a number of other intersections of life as well. The reality is that support, and a sturdy support system, is a critical component of life. Following up from the previous episode On Being "Self-Made", Dre explores ideas regarding support and community. Dre touches on support from those we know, those we don't, and the dissonance that can often be experienced when our family and friends will support the endeavors of strangers and not those of us they personally know in real life. When in need, let your system know that you desire support.

When we as people talk about being happy, it's often within the context of external forces affecting our feelings. As if some other person, place, or thing has the control rod and their finger on the button to determine if we'll be happy or not, much less if we'll stay happy or not. Following up from the previous episode, On Joy in Despair, Dre spends today's episode exploring the idea of happiness being a personal problem and solution. Personally, only you can make and keep yourself happy. It's a good day to be happy and stay happy, even in the midst of all the other things happening in life that you can't change.

Sometimes, the best thing that we can do in our lives is put ourselves first. Do you maybe need a little help with learning to prioritize yourself over other people? Then this episode is especially for you, so tap in. In today's episode, Dre talks about the invalidation of emotions and experiences, and how that can be discordant when you are trying to be a safe space for others. Angela Bassett may have done the thing, but sadly, Dre is not. Well, he is... kind of. It just doesn't feel like it. Maybe it's some kind of unconscious comparison, but he doesn't feel like his experience and his accomplishments are matching up. There's some kind of disconnect, some kind of dissonance. He can't quite put his finger on it, he can't quite explain it. But if you, like Dre, feel like you aren't quite doing the thang, this episode is for you.

Every year is filled with life lessons. Some are new. Some are returning to see if you're making the connection. Some have finally just clicked for you. Entering into my 24th year of life, I decided that I wanted to share some of my lessons from year 23. This by no means an exhaustive list, I mean, can there really ever be an exhaustive list? Still, these are some of the most pertinent and prominent lessons that I learned and that I will continue to carry with me into my 24th year of life. Thank you for the celebrations and love. Happy Birthday (2/27) to me. Don't forget your lessons y'all.

You could really be so in love in time for Valentine's Day this year. But no. You still want to be the problem. Worse yet, you either don't want to acknowledge or haven't yet realized that you're the problem. You're the reason that you're still single. Like, how do you want a communicator but run from conversation? How do you want effort and intention, but can't provide that yourself? Let's do better. Let's better. Let's be so in love in time for Valentine's Day. But first things first, you gotta do some work babe. You're the problem. You're the reason you're still single.

Let's talk about exes. No, no, we're not gonna bad mouth them, even if you feel they might deserve it. Instead, let's talk about what happens when they try to come back around. Would you let an ex spin the block? In today's episode, Dre explains why he would and the required conditions that must be met before an ex can be allowed back into his life. It's a slippery slope, and, perhaps a complex conversation. So grab your drinks and pull up.
