When we think about prayer as going to fellowship with God, we change our perspective from entering a one-sided conversation to a time of expectation for two-sided fellowship.

In this message, the question was asked, “What environmental control measures have I established to meet with God?” This will determine how and what we establish with others.

Salvation brings access to authority; the ability to adjust everything according to the need. Salvation brings empowerment because it now gives us the ability to see. We should conduct our lives as one looking out the window (looking forward) and not in a mirror (looking at the past).

God talks to us so that we can connect, grow, serve, and celebrate resulting in a
transformation of a life. We cannot be timid with the things of God. We must speak as the way God allows us to speak. We must understand the presence of God and what He provides. His presence is always with us.

Pastor connected verses 19 and 22 of Hebrews 10. In the Old Testament, the priests entered boldly into the Holy Place, following specific guidelines both naturally and spiritually. For those who have received salvation - God can be trusted. Embrace the will of God by embracing the Word of God. Our actions will reflect in our walk whether or not we trust Him. There will be boldness without anger or under artificial stimulus. The Word of God has provided us the authority to walk in boldness. Our relationship with Him will help us walk with wisdom as a peacemaker. Having wisdom on board will help us to deliver knowledge and create relationships with others.

God wants us to see Him in everything we do and say.

Our environment has to serve us. Our environment should provide us with what we need. It will feed us in the midst of trials and tribulations. We were encouraged to perform a risk assessment. Let us examine what is in our environment that could influence us to do something that would lead us astray. When you have an established relationship with God, He will also provide an earthly counterpart who will also deliver the Word of God in our environment.

The story of Lazarus was an example of what can take place within a designed environmental control measure. The event that took place gave the disciples an opportunity to see the boldness that could operate in their lives.

Walk as the new man. Adjust your walk according to how you think as a new creation. Act on what has been provided you through salvation and relationship. Have in place environmental control measures that will work for who you are destined to be.

In this message, Pastor reflected on the actions of Adam, showing us that our lives are all about the decisions we make. Our decision should be to pursue God. We should be looking at how God works us as we receive Him through His Word. God has called us to be free. That can only happen when we are “in the know” of the things of God. If we know what really matters to God, then it will matter to us.

Hebrews 10 calls us to deal with the mind according to our pursuit of God. We should persevere in being in the presence of God. God can be trusted to keep His promise. As we build up our relationship with Him, He can fulfill in us what we were called to do.

Peace is what we all desire.

Often, our activity is driven by our emotions. Our emotions should encompass what God has specifically given us to do. We are at peace when we are in agreement with what God has called us to be. That can be discovered through prayer, believing, and then doing. Our mind should always be kept on Jesus.

God has created an environment for us through Jesus. In that environment, we can hear and see. Our environment should serve us. It should be one where risk is reduced and health and safety are promoted. Pastor challenged us to discover what is in our environments and why it is there. We need to see what's in that space that has created disruptions or distractions, and remove them.

With the renovations of the church after the fire, South Tacoma Assembly has been given the opportunity to create the environment to best serve what we are called to do. We must recognize the changes in the platform God has provided for us as we go through the challenges of today’s environment. Because of our relationship with Jesus, we can speak into the situations at hand.

Pastor brings to a conclusion the message on vision and our ability to see because of Christ. Three questions have been asked during this series: “Where am I?”, "Where have I been?”, and today he addressed “Where am I going?”. He encourages us to make the choice to move forward. That can gloriously happen when a relationship and fellowship with Christ has been established. He exhorts us to have a dialogue and not a monologue when we come before Christ with our questions and our desires. When we engage in a dialogue, we will be able to better “see” the tomorrow He has planned for us.

God wants to speak to us every day. If we recognize what God is doing in us, we will embrace the developing relationships we can have with Him and with others. God wants us to establish priorities in our lives. If we can see where we are going, then distractions will have little effect. We will embrace what matters and the distractions become small. Pastor used his family as an example of what takes place when relationship is a priority. You will be able to partner with those you have been called to help; assisting them dot their “I”s” and cross their “T’s.”

Vision comes with a path. Vision speaks of tomorrow. When you know where you are going, you will be seen as a strength in the life of others. Praying and trusting in God and the relationship we have with Him will reveal the path.

Pastor continued his message on vision. He encouraged us to recognize that life is full of vision when we are in God. God has given those who believe the ability to have an advantage by seeing. When we can see, we will reach forward, believing that what we see is attainable.

When we allow God to be our optometrist, we will be able to see how God sees. We will have His perspective on what has happened in our past, what is taking place in our present, and what we can expect in our future. When we read God’s Word, we increase our ability to see. When we can see, we will be able to change the focus of our thought life.

Col 3:1 exhorts us to seek those things that are above; i.e. seek those things from the One Who has the authority. The acronym ASK (Ask, Seek, Knock) was used. There was a popular game show in which a prize was waiting behind one of three doors. Jesus is always available knocking at the door of our hearts. Behind God’s door, there is always something good when we choose to open it. That open door will provide the vision needed for our lives. Faith in God restores sight and creates opportunities.

Everyday, in prayer, ask God to see. As you walk through the journey of your vision, take time to learn in the process and smell the fragrance of His sacrifice that He provided for your journey.

In this message, Pastor Reed encourages us to know that our visions and ideas reflect our ability to see. When your vision comes from God, He will provide you what is necessary for that vision or idea to bear fruit.

Pastor provided as an example his visit to the optometrist during an annual physical in which he discovered that he needed glasses. Clearly seeing the Word of God in your Bible will activate the progression toward the vision. Jesus is our optometrist. He is the Word of God and will provide insight.

It is particularly important during this season to be able to see God. The pandemic has impaired a lot of visions. COVID19 has created a fear. Nations now have to deal with the aftermath and the loosening of practices and legislation.

The relationship and obedience to God’s Word is important to the believers at this time. Having developed a friendship with God provides the ability to see and go forward in purpose.

Pastor reflected on the visual diagram at South Tacoma Assembly of God: Vision - Valley - Victory. As a church, we continue to walk out our vision to reach and transform lives through the love of Jesus Christ. We may not all be visionaries, but we all can look “at”, look ”for” and look “in” the direction and purpose that God has for us.

The word of God provides us the ability to see the entire woman. Given another opportunity on this Mother's Day, we must remember that mothers are first women possessing God’s gifting and purpose. God placed a woman alongside Adam to be his helper. This was a decision that God made - not man. A mother develops how the home operates. The love of God for us is modeled when we watch the unconditional love of a Godly mother for her child. A mother will look beyond the faults of the child and work with Him to design ways to get the child back on track. Pastor recalled some of the training practices in the home as his wife taught the children using a chip reward system. Mothers and their children are encouraged to develop relationships while they are able. Mothers and daughters can develop friendships that flourish despite the circumstances and situations that come up. One should establish a mindset to be a blessing to their mother. Be motivated to pursue that relationship through Jesus. The pursuit of a positive relationship built through God and harnessing purpose can create a divine legacy for the family.

Pastor continued his discussion on salvation being according to our faith in what Jesus has become in our lives.

Salvation provides freedom, deliverance and purpose. If you live out your salvation, you are the evidence that God exists. Knowing that God has changed your life should be visible in your walk and talk. Receiving salvation not only affects your heart, but your mind.

The vision of South Tacoma Assembly of God declares that we are to reach and transform lives through the love of Jesus Christ. We will reach if we recognize what has taken place in our life through salvation. We will desire to reach to others to let them know the same saving, transforming power and grace of Jesus Christ. The oil of gladness will flow, revealing what is relevant for us and others. We can't help but rejoice if we live out what God has done.

Does faith in what God has provided operate in your thought life? Your thoughts should be fixed on Jesus. Our lives continue to transform if we “think” our circumstances and situations through God.

Sometimes God wants us to be quiet so he can pour into us. We can gain the ability to discern. The definition of discernment is to show insight; recognizing the small details. Discernment is a gift. When we discern the voice of God, we will be able to hear others. When we hear others, then we will “respond” to behavior and situations and not “react.” Discerning the small details is important. We will become aware of what the enemy is presenting to us on the surface and see what is underneath. Discernment will allow YOU to lead the conversation. When we are not operating in the spirit, we will limit our perception to only the tangible evidence of an issue.

Pastor shared how he changed his approach to sharing the willingness and availability of God’s love. He now asks the question, “Do you love you?” This approach provides a better opportunity to share the love of Jesus Christ. It allows discernment of the self-talk that is going on in the person you are sharing Jesus with. Some people self-talk themselves out of what salvation has provided and re-enter areas of pain, lack or loss.

The greatest task we need to pursue is to learn to screen our thoughts. To master purpose, we must allow God to handle our thoughts, because they impact our attitude. We are not to focus on lack; in Christ, all needs are fulfilled. Let salvation create change on the inside.

Salvation comes as a result of our faith in God. The receiving of salvation should fuel our faith. Salvation allows us to embrace hope. There is an increase in the relationship and fellowship through the acknowledgement of who we are and who we are becoming in Him. Salvation lets us see beyond the natural, and embrace hope. Obedience is the evidence of faith. Obedience will cause us to look for God in our circumstances. Obedience brings faith into our hope. Hebrews 11:1 gives us a description of faith. There are two components of faith: substance and evidence. Substance brings a solution from the supernatural; evidence is seeing something manifest in the natural. Faith works with the will of man and the will of God. The will of Jesus had to submit to the will of God in the Garden of Gethsemane. His obedience to the will of God modeled His faith in God in substance and evidence. Just like Jesus, our will and the will of God should be the same. For us, salvation through Jesus Christ has come on board to allow us to operate in the same manner. In this message, Pastor asked us to reflect on how the Word of God reveals itself in our lives. Faith is in opposition to doubt. It is the tangible sign or proof allowing us to come to a conclusion. What we do and how we conduct ourselves every day will be the evidence or tangible proof that salvation and faith in Jesus is on board.

In this message, Pastor expounds on Jesus Christ as “the” Hope of our salvation. When we receive Jesus Christ, there has been a circumcision of our heart. Walking out your salvation allows others to see what has transpired in your heart.

Pastor gave the illustration of how fruit only produces after its own kind. We became a new creation when we receive salvation and become one with Christ. The righteousness of Jesus Christ was made available to us. Jesus was the first fruit when He allowed himself to be crucified on the cross. You will become fruitful as Jesus was fruitful. As we allow the Word of God to grow on the inside of us, it will produce what it is.

The Scriptures show how the branches must remain connected to the vine. Our roots must be embedded in the Word of God. That connection will allow the new creation to have the authority. The old man (our old self) will be partitioned off. When people see us, they will see the Word of God that was implanted in us. We will operate from the supernatural and it will rightfully govern the natural part of us. The old man will have nothing to say as we walk in the new creation of salvation. Our approach to various situations will be different.

Listen to His guidance through the Holy Spirit. It will stabilize the uneven areas in your life. As you produce according to His kind, you will bring great glory to the Father.

Pastor continued to expound on the message he started Wednesday on “Social Distancing of Another Kind.” The pandemic and government agencies are using social distancing and masking as the methodologies to promote the physical safety and well being of the population. Pastor used the scriptures where Peter, despite his declaration of staunchly supporting Jesus, denied His Lord and Savior three times within the same 24 hour period. Despite trying to socially distance himself from Jesus, others in the crowd recognized Peter because his mannerisms pointed to his divine relationship with Jesus. Peter was unmasked when he hung around the community that did not know Jesus. Believers must recognize that fellowship, relationships and friendships are part of the culture of the kingdom of God. Our motto for STAOG “Connect, Grow, Serve and Celebrate” lines up with the mandate for the members of the Kingdom of God to assemble together. As imitators of Christ, we too are to strengthen our brothers and sisters when they fall just as Christ encouraged Peter. Pastor reminded believers that we are still in and should stay in the “Resurrection” season. As a society of believers, we have the God of the universe to offer to those walking with the God of this world. Disobedience to the word of God will cause social distancing and denying what was done on the inside. We are to go out and share the “newness” that has taken place on the inside to those who do know now Jesus. Our testimonies are what we have to offer to a dying world. How we perceive circumstances and situations matters to God. It is not what we go through, but how we go through it. This will shape the delivery of our testimonies to those that need to hear them.

Pastor described Palm Sunday as a day of celebration. This event tells us of the entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem through a crowd that were throwing coats into his path indicating their understanding of the greatness of who He was. The word Hosanna actually means “save us” in Hebrew letting us know that they understood what He represented. Do you recognize what God has done in your life? As one who has received salvation, God has provided you the ability to live from the realm of the kingdom of God. Psalm 18 describes what takes place if you grab the word of God and see rescue in the areas of your life that the enemy encroached upon. You must continue to increase after the celebration of his resurrection. The word "cherish” means holding onto something that you consider dear. If you cherish the Word of God, you will create an opportunity for the Word to be shared. In that, you have recognized what has and is being fulfilled in your life. You will ask yourself, “What can I do with what God has already provided for me?” Your presentation reflects how you have received the word of God. Can this Jesus be seen in who you are? Will you take off your coat for others to have an easier way of travel? As believers, we are the gift of God that is still here present in the earth to represent. Take the time to liberate others because you have received “HOSANNA.”

Man had to be brought back into relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Salvation is the rescue operation that brought that change to our lives. Christ is now the platform that we operate on to reach the lost. What we do (or don’t do) with what we have been given not only affects our lives but the lives of others.

Do we give thanks daily for the opportunities that He has brought us? Do we speak or share or do according to the will of God? Are we planting positive seeds as a result of operating in obedience to His Word? It is only then that the multiplication that He commanded in Genesis 1:26 can actually be fulfilled the way it was intended.

We should have a passion to want to imitate God. When we do, we will want to operate in dominion and present salvation to the lost. God needs you and I to extend that same grace He gave to us through salvation to the world that He has brought us out of. We must allow the Word of God to be manifested in everything that we share.

Scriptures: Ephesians 2:1-10; Romans 6:1-4; Genesis 1:26-28

Every believer should be full of joy and connected to prayer. We can remain steadfast in the love that God has bestowed upon us. We can move forward in His grace and mercy. In this message, Pastor encourages believers to stand in unity with one another in prayer. Philippians 4 provides a look at two women of faith finally standing together despite differences. There is a blessing in being one accord. When they got it right, they ministered and brought in abundance.

We are encouraged to have positive relationships with others because we need each other. The gospel of love provides the alignment necessary for a corporate body to move forward. Our prayer time will help to visualize how we can help those who are lost.

Vision helps us to walk in purpose. We want foresight and direction which can only come in the strength of God through prayer. Sometimes God has vision for our lives, but it cannot be fulfilled because of our lack of relationship with Him. God will be able to trust us with more and with people as our relationship with Him is strengthened. Receive a vision for prayer for others.

Scriptures: Ephesians 6:10; Philippians 4:1-7; Colossians 3:1-3; Habakkuk 2:1-3; Romans 8:28

Pastor reminded us that we are entering the last days of our 40 day fast. He shared how the fast has provided an increase in his prayer life and encountering the mind of God. He encouraged us to remember the great testimonies God has provided for us to this day. Expect great things to take place during these final days.

Pastor continued on the message “Step Up and Love.” Pastor focused on two words in John 3:16: - “believe in.” The Holy Trinity took time to develop and execute a plan to reestablish man’s relationship with Them. God’s love does not change. God gives us love and He wants it back. He will never ask us for something He hasn’t first provided.

Time and effort are developed in relationships that someone “believes in.” When you love something, you will “believe” in what is good about them. Jesus was God’s love gift to humanity. It is only through Jesus that we can love. Love is a behavior. Behave the word. It is not evident that you know God if you don’t behave the Word.

Pastor reflected on the metamorphosis in his life; from caterpillar to butterfly when he embraced what God provided for him through Jesus. He is no longer cocooned in bondage - and neither do we have to be. Pastor shared how he now embraces every day developing his love relationship with God.

Love will overthrow adversities if you are obedient to the commandments of God. There’s a reward for “believing” in something. Step into the love of God. Step into the relationship that has been provided. Take the love of God and “believe in” it. When you “believe in” what God has for you, you will invest what He has given you into others.

There is a rich opportunity during these turbulent times to let others know the love of God.

Scriptures: John 3:16; Luke 6:36-38; 1 Corinthians 13:4-7; John 15:8-13; 1 John 4:7-16; 1 John 1:9

Pastor asked us this question: “What does unconditional love toward God look like?” The love of God is a divine connection. God’s commandment to love makes room for increase. Stepping into the love of God makes room for opportunities to make a difference.

Pastor reflected on his salvation experience during his time in the military and what he encountered right after receiving salvation. The love of God that you have been given will be tested. Luke 6 describes the room being made for blessings through love.

Pastor used the analogy of a bag of leaves that has been compressed so that more leaves can be put in. The Word (Jesus) teaches us love. If we can love the Word of God, we can love each other through the Word of God. We become the love of Christ through the relationships that we have. The love of Christ in us gets us beyond our differences. Love will stand without romance. God’s gift of love is the gift that keeps on giving.

Scriptures: Luke 6:27-38; 1 Cor 13:4-7; John 15:9-13; 1 John 4:7-9

Valentine’s Day is the perfect day to hear about true love. All of us want love. All of us want to receive love. True love is a divine love and can only be received if it is through Jesus. Jesus was given as a gift to us. Many are not willing to receive and so won’t give love because of past heart experiences. Pastor let us know that you can only receive love by abiding in the presence of God. It can then be expressed and demonstrated to others. Pastor gave his own marriage as an example of that love.

True love cannot operate in hate, mistrust, or offense. When you embrace the love that God provides, then it will become the authority that works in your life (even if it has been minimal in your experience). Embracing the love and the life of Christ makes what is in the believer “alive.”

Pastor gave us great news: The love of the Father can never be cancelled out by past behaviors. Every failure is a chance to signify a growth process and a win-win situation. God made provision through sending His Son, Jesus, and continually providing the spirit of reconciliation. That is because God’s love is a divine connection. Pastor expounded on the Scriptures describing the Father as the Vinedresser. Jesus is the True Vine that connects the relationship between the Father and Him, and between Himself and us.

Love is fruitful. Love flows after there is an acknowledgement and appreciation of what has been accomplished in our lives because of Jesus. Obedience to God’s commands is a high form of love. When you receive the love God has provided for us through Jesus, then you will be able to love beyond your own “natural” capacity.

Pastor encouraged us to create opportunities to look at one another through the eyes of Jesus. Make sure you don’t take God’s love for granted. Don't love out of convenience; love out of God. We will see our relationships flourish when they flow out of the relationship we have with Jesus.

Scriptures: John 3:16; John 14:1; John 15:1-13; John 12:24

Today’s message centers around how to “Step Up to be a Blessing.” During the tumultuous times we are in, we must be creative on how to connect, grow, serve, and celebrate. Our lives should be centered around Jesus and prayer. Pastor reviewed the 5 “I wills” that can govern how we approach each day. True unity only lies within God. Pastor used the acronym ASK to encourage us to know the Word of God and pursue God in prayer.

We are to be a blessing and God wants to use us today and tomorrow. We have a connection with Jesus and it is divine. We have the ability to make a difference, and we have the ability to speak and to sow into situations. God wants us to take action. And when we do, we can help restore those who need the word of Life.

God must be in control if you want to be that blessing to the lost world. If you trust God, you will love His Word, seek His Word and you will obey His Word. Are you solely engaged in things that pertain to self? Being a true blessing can only be achieved if you have God’s motives. Engage in sober conversations and have sober encounters. Look for ways to become a blessing. Find a need and fill it. If you have the word on the inside and have immersed yourself in prayer, your efforts and the results will be “out of this world.”

Step up to be a blessing.

Pastor encouraged us to recognize where we have been and to get a perspective of where we are going. The fast we are currently on (January 24th-March 4th) will help us to look at our relationship, fellowship, and friendship with God and others through the salvation He provided for us. God wants us to do more as believers, including looking for opportunities to be an example of His word and reach the lost.

Pastor used Peter and his encounter of walking on water as an illustration of stepping up, stepping out, and stepping into a situation, believing in God. If we become out of synch with what we are to do, then stepping up, stepping out, and stepping into a situation can be made difficult. We have to focus in order to advance forward. Don’t allow distractions or diversions to make you lose sight of His promises and the tasks ahead. Jesus comes to make our steps better. Our steps are righteous if they are empowered by the Word of God. Fight to protect what is yours.

Scriptures: Psalm 37:23, 24; Matthew 14:22-33

In this message, Pastor reminded us that each day, like today, we are creating steps transitioning into what God has called us to do. Each day Pastor has a set of “I will...”s to stand on through the day:

  1. I will trust God.
  2. I will seek God through His Word.
  3. I will let the love of God be the center of my thoughts and my deeds.
  4. I will not quit today because Jesus is my today and my tomorrow.
  5. I will work today on making a better me.

The only person that gets you through the steps of change is you THROUGH Jesus Christ. It is then that you (and others doing the same), can walk in agreement and unity.

Pastor also reviewed our church model - Connect, Grow, Serve, and Celebrate. Every believer should know how to walk this model. It exemplifies the grace to walk on the path that Jesus has provided for us. Our vision statement reflects that as well, as we endeavour to reach and transform lives through the love of Jesus Christ.

South Tacoma Assembly of God has embarked upon a fast starting yesterday that will continue until March 4, 2021. It is a 9 hour fast (6:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m.; 6:00 p.m. - 3:00 a.m.). When we fast, we are allowing our spirit, through God, to bring who we are in alignment with the Word of God. Allow the Word of God to be the standard. We must be inwardly strong and outwardly focused if we want to reach and do for the lost what Jesus has done for us. As you pray and listen, you will be able to spiritually hear and listen to those around you.

We invite you to join us in our fast if you can and as you are able.

The numbers in the calendar year 2021 reflect two years in one. We are not finished with what took place in 2020. They can be completed in 2021. Pastor has identified this year as the Year of Step. There is the opportunity for us to step out of the old, step up toward the new, and step into the new. A new season awaits each one of us if we allow the process that is necessary to complete the steps. In the process, nothing is worth losing your relationship with Jesus.

We were reminded to practice the 5 Daily Declarations as part of our morning routine as we prepare to minister to the world. Watching, listening, and praying are key to remaining sober while we are affecting change in our environment and circumstances. Leaders should remain alert; walking in consistency and in humility. Our actions determine what transpires in our lives and in the lives of others.

Pastor let us know that South Tacoma Assembly of God will be used by God in the Year of the Step. God has already stepped outfor us by giving us Jesus. Jesus stepped up to the challenge by taking our place on the cross. We are to recognize that through being perfected, established, and strengthened through tests, trials, and victories, we will be settled in our walk. We can step out in purpose, above every situation, through our salvation. We can step up to the batter’s box and swing to succeed. We can step up to what God has called us to do. We are to step in and utilize every opportunity to reach for someone with the Word of God and bring others to eternal life.

Step out on purpose, step up in purpose and step in to purpose. Let God order your steps - Leave His footprints in the sand.

In this message, Pastor re-emphasized that this year is the year of “The Step.”  We must remember that moving from 2020 to 2021 did not necessarily mean that there was a change in season. Some things from 2020 still need to be addressed in 2021.

Examine yourself and see if you can recognize the process that God is taking you though. Look to see the fullness of what is taking place. Pastor gave us an ACRONYM for this year’s word, “STEP”: S- sober | T- temperate | E- established | P- plausible.

God is a God of preparation. He protects you as your faith in Him and your relationship with Him is established. Preparation is the best formula for winning. Trust produces an eternal result. We must understand that we will have trials. Some of those trials come as a result of not listening. Allow God take you to the next step spiritually. Prayer is part of the preparation process in order for there to be a transformation into the new man that God has ordained. How you step will change as you move forward. You will not end up compromising or sacrificing for the wrong reasons. When you pray, God creates a preparation for you to be received in what you do. As the Word of God flourishes in you, then Jesus will be revealed to the world. That is what it means to be inwardly strong and outwardly focused. This year, get to steppin!!!!

Pastor Angel was charged to ask the congregation a question through the question she had been asked. In a time of prayer, God asked her, “Am I enough?” And in this message, she charged us to ask ourselves the question, "Is Jesus enough?"

The question provokes an examination of where we stand with Jesus. Most Christians would think that the answer to the question was obvious. But, if we would take time to examine our hearts, we would need to look to see if He truly was the main focus in every area of our lives. Are we totally dependent upon Him? Or is He the key focus in some areas, but crowded with other people and other things in other aspects?

Our pastor reflected on the meaning of El Shaddai and its translation as the “All-Sufficient” One. A word picture was given using the relationship that a nursing baby has with his/her mother. During the first few months of nursing, that infant is totally dependent upon the mother. The breast milk of a healthy mother contains all that the child needs for growth, development, and sustenance. The baby looks intently at the mother during the process of feeding. There is a bonding that is activated as they intently look at one another. The baby trusts the source; the mother knows she is providing.

The baby receives physical nourishment as well as nourishment for the soul during that exchange. God wants us to have that type of dependency upon Him. He wants to be our El Shaddai, especially during this season of perilous times. Let us allow ourselves to be totally dependent upon Jesus. Let go of the control. Let your eyes rise up and connect with Him. There will be no lack or need when we do.

Scriptures: John 1:3 [AMPC], Acts 17:24-25 (NLT)

This week, Pastor revisited the story of Zechariah so that we can see the results of prayer when our ERA (Environment, Realm, and Atmosphere) is aligned.

God always has a time and season for the manifestation of our prayers. God created a divine visitation for Zechariah during his time of obedience - when he was offering up sacrifices for the people. Zechariah and Elizabeth had been praying for a while for a child. It did not happen the first time they prayed. The manifestation of their prayers were not answered when they first desired it, but their child did come when by natural means, they were counted out. They were old, but they were also available to receive the answer to their prayers in God’s timing. God sent His son Jesus as Savior of the world. The son of Zechariah and Elizabeth - the son of their old age - was His forerunner.

In this message, we were also shown how Mary had dropped from her hearing and listening to what the angel had spoken to her during her time of visitation. She would have understood that Jesus was transitioning when they were looking for him when he was “lost” at 12 years old. Had she remembered what the angel told her, she would have known that Jesus was pursuing the reason He came to earth. Hear and keep what you heard from God, regardless of how much time has gone by since it was said.

Pray with a listening ear and listen for His answer. Don’t underestimate the longevity of your prayers. Pray until something happens. Fasting with prayer will allow your spirit to listen more keenly. Receive what the Word of God has for you and not the word of man. Change with the season God has provided for you; not with the natural set seasons of time.

Pastor encouraged parents and grandparents to pray over their children and grandchildren. Grandchildren are the seed of fulfillment. Let your prayers over them be like the incense (representing prayers) Zechariah provided during his duties in the temple. Pastor is believing for a divine visitation for each one of us. Believe with expectancy.

Pastor continued to unpack the mandate to not only hear, but to listen. The message today let us know that when hearing and listening appropriately, we make ourselves available to divine visitations. Prayer is a dialogue. God is wanting us to make good choices. How we hear determines how we respond to His requests. In our listening, we can understand what season we are in. If we listen to what He is saying according to the season we are in, we can make good choices.

The different visitations that are provided for us will be different according to our positioning. Obedience is an opportunity for God to bless us. God controls the time so that purpose can be fulfilled. You must take time to know the word that has been provided for us by Jesus for our lives. God’s purposes trump all hindrances that we may face.

Be prepared for visitations. Never give up on God to change your situation. Your situation is worth praying for. The story of Zechariah revealed a man who may have prayed, but was not prepared for what God was doing in the midst of his situation. He was an example of hearing with your ears, but not listening with your spirit. He was put into his situation so that purpose could be fulfilled. When you meditate upon the word of God, you are receptive to what God’s promises are. That is the result of focus: you have created an opportunity for the miraculous to take place.

Pastor encouraged us to pray, believing for divine visitations. Pray listening through the gift of salvation putting you in a position to receive. Remember that your outlook will determine your outcome.

In yesterday’s message, our pastor reminded us that God always keeps us in the forefront of His mind and heart. He reflected on the weeks approaching the celebration of the birth of Jesus and, shortly thereafter, the New Year. Pastor says this is a time for thanksgiving and to put forth a greater effort to do better according to God’s calling for our lives.

Transitioning into a New Year doesn’t always mean a change in the season that we are in. A season change is based upon the timing, obedience, and fulfillment of what is required as a believer. The environment, realm, and atmosphere that we are operating in affects the season and season change. 2021 promises to come with its own share of challenges. Allow your decision-making process for your new year and your season to be filtered through Jesus.

Put yourself in a position to prepare and hear. Don’t allow the traditions of man to decrease the meaning of Christmas. Don’t allow the traditions of man to dictate how you are to go through your season. Believers are givers - not just in one season. Give attention to the birth of Christ, and take the opportunity to give someone a chance to know Jesus. A season without Jesus is not a season. Recognize the priceless value of knowing Christ in this season.

This week, Pastor continued to expound on the difference between hearing and listening. We are to dialogue with God. As we dialogue with God, we are able to effectively dialogue with each other. Everyone receives a harvest as a result of what has been heard. Listening is about bearing fruit.

There are 4 types of listening. We are given the opportunity to root or uproot things we have heard as it pertains to our salvation and walk with God. We are responsible for how we hear and how we respond. Pastor Reed went over the five levels of listening, the six stages of listening, and the three aspects of listening - there is a lot involved!

Even in your relationship with God, be careful that you don’t hear only through your experience and misinterpret the other person in the dialogue. Recognize if God is or is not in the conversation. If you realize that He is not there, You can put Him there. The Word of God has authority. It provides us the ability to listen with the authority of God. As you watch this message, be sure to listen too!

Pastor begins a new series to bring us fresh insight into the practice of hearing and listening. The parable of the sower provided the scriptural backdrop to reveal the impact of varying degrees of hearing and listening. Pastor briefly reviewed the four types of listening: appreciative, empathic, comprehensive, and critical. We are responsible for what we hear, how we hear, and what our response will be to what has been heard. Pastor also introduced us to the 6 stages of listening, which involves hearing, selecting, attending, understanding, evaluating, and remembering. Interruption or stopping short of any of these stages can result in an incomplete dialogue or understanding. The word of God should be the platform of every Christian from which one hears. How we hear is impacted by our relationship and dialogue with God. How we listen is determined by us. Don’t miss the upcoming messages as he continues to teach on the levels and stages of listening as a believer.

In this message, Pastor challenged us to “Stick with Prayer.” Prayer is an action that should carry purpose. Many lag in prayer because they didn’t hear anything after they prayed. However, prayer requires knowledge, wisdom, understanding, and most of all, patience. Trusting is a key part of prayer. Regardless of what we see or how we feel, we are to pray until something happens.

We are to pray without ceasing, and we should pray strategically. Pastor equated prayer to a workout; requiring endurance and some pain, but resulting in strength being produced. We are commanded not to be anxious, but to pray. Praying should be present in every activity that is done under heaven.

Pastor also distinguished between prayer and supplication. Your prayers - prayers of intercession - can provide strength to other people. Your prayers - those of supplication - can provide strength to you. During this season, Pastor encourages us to intercede and pray for those that are fearful. Your prayers are God’s hand extended for other people, our missionaries, and our nations. An integral part of these prayers is thanksgiving. Pray with a thankful heart. Pray with purpose. Pray without ceasing. Pray strategically. Stick with prayer.

As we have come out of the series, “Where is Jesus in Your Life?”, Pastor began a teaching on the need for us to be persistent in prayer. Prayer is a necessity in the life of any believer who wants to grow in the wisdom of God - a believer who to be in the “know.” It is through persevering prayer that you will be prepared for what will manifest in the natural. A believer should never ”turn off” when someone asks to pray. Prayer is the foundation of the relationship that we have with Jesus and it is important for us to access that relationship on behalf of someone else. Prayer is birthed out of a love of God. Prayer opens up heaven. It represents an encounter with God; a divine visitation. This is the activity under heaven that guides us through the process of our purpose. This love of God will be how we will be able to love one another. Prayer is an intentional action that should be implemented way before we have exhausted all of other “resources.” Prayer will let us see the best options. We are in a season where we need all the help we can get to succeed in what we are destined to do. Let prayer propel the journey and reveal to you the outcome.

"Every Little Thing" was our theme for this year's Pastors' Appreciation. This theme represents both every little thing we face, and every little thing we do in response to what we are facing. It turns out nothing is little - every "little" thing is a catalyst for something greater, whether we can see it or not. Being online has been a new platform for STAOG. We took this opportunity to appreciate our pastors by having a sit down chat with them. They reflected on the things God has given them throughout their years of ministry and marriage that can apply to our relationship with Jesus. There is also a salad story that did not make it in the edited version that you won’t want to miss!

In this message, Pastor concludes the series, “Where is Jesus in Your Life?" We are reminded how crucial it is to not just hear, but to listen. Our church vision, ”Reaching and Transforming Lives through the Love of Jesus Christ”, will succeed as we embrace the message that we were provided during the series.

Our lives are transformed according to how we hear and what we are looking for God to do. We must recognize what was done for us on the cross in order for us to know what to do with the life we have now been given through salvation.

The heart is the foundation. The heart represents our focus. If we have accepted Christ in our heart, then love is now our foundation. His love should be able to transform all our situations if we listen and do what His Word is saying. It is better to live through the heart that has been provided for us than according to the circumstances surrounding us.

We must be disciplined listeners. We must know what to listen for and then act upon it. During this time, many are staying home more than they may have before the lockdowns, school changes, and job changes. However, take time to listen and allow your heart to align up each and every day with His Word before you leave out - if it is not out of your front door, let it be your bedroom door. Align yourself with His voice and His Word. Take that time. When you do this, you will then look in the right place for the right things.

In this message, Pastor continued to use the example of the church of the Laodiceans to prompt us to examine where Jesus is in our lives. The Laodiceans were inconsistent - operating in a lukewarm fashion in their response to the Word of God.

A lukewarm fellowship with Jesus does not survive. Change does not take place when you are lukewarm - change can only take place through the Word of God. Discipline is necessary to create the sound relationship with Jesus. When you stick to the process of change, you will live a life that is “hot” and will always be advancing.

Read the Scriptures and you will see the processes may be different, but the principles remain the same. Pastor showed comparisons between the major breach that took place in the garden (Genesis 3) to what was taking place in the Laodicean church (Revelation 3). You can see in the relationships from Genesis to Revelation, that God wants to remove our blindness and cover our nakedness.

There is an assurance that the Word of God will always address our situation. We are encouraged to position ourselves to be a good listener. As a good listener, we will be able to hear the soundness in His Word, and see His authority being released. In the sound (noun) and in the soundness (adjective) of the relationship, is love. That love will be able to be extended by us to others because of the relationship we have with Jesus. This assurance rests in a relationship that is on fire.

Transformational change can only come through the Word of God. Find out where Jesus is in your life. Allow the process to take place to be a Christian who is not lukewarm, but on fire.

In this week’s message, Pastor encourages us to make sure that God is in the decision making processes we engage in on a daily basis.

When we discover where God’s position and influence is in our lives, we can make the adjustments to make sure that we are in a “sound” location. The sound location signifies a place of rest and comfort. This “sound” location reflects the stability that will take place in our lives because Jesus is properly positioned. This “sound” location is the Way, the Truth and the Life (WTL), as Pastor spoke on last week. The WAY identifies the method of our activity and the TRUTH reflects that genuineness of our activity, as it is based on the truth of the gospel. The LIFE reflects the capacity for growth and the functionality of our life because it is stemming from an everlasting source. Walking the way Jesus walks requires discipline and should be a part of every believer’s strength. Discipline is required so that the heart will tell the mind how it should operate when the mind tries to take over (like it often does!).

We are provided a great example when we look at the church of Laodicea, described as lukewarm in its approach to the Word of God. Jesus knows where you are and where you need to be. Discipline should be a part of every believer’s strength. Discipline will allow us to hear what is eternal and speak according to the way, the truth, and the life. Jesus told the church of Laodicea to buy from Him gold that had been purified in the fire (Revelation 3:18). In connecting with the praise and worship time, let us build on the foundation that Christ has laid, not with our works (represented by hay and stubble in 1 Corinthians 3), but through the gold that we get from Jesus when we allow God’s fire to purify us. As we allow God, who is an all-consuming fire, to purify us, we are simultaneously allowing Him to reveal our true value and purpose in Christ Jesus.

Scriptures: Phil 4:13; Rev 3:16-19; Hebrews 12:29; John 4:38

View Details

In this message, Pastor continued to develop our understanding on Philippians 4:12. The constant desire of God is that we know Jesus. Paul continues to be our example as tangible evidence of what happens when we get a true revelation of Christ.

A transformation can also take place in our lives if we let God in and allow Him to to examine our hearts. Yesterday’s message expounds on John 14:6, where Jesus announces that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life - our WTL. Each word was broken down to show what Jesus is in our life.

As the Way, Jesus is our course of action, our method, our strategy. As the Truth, He is what is necessary for complete and thorough process to take place inside of us. And as the Life, He came to show us how to live life the way God intended us to live, and to walk alongside us as we do.

There are only two ways to live life: the way of Christ or the way without Christ. When we follow the way of Christ, the style, state of being, and the process we take will be accurate because it is the Word of God that will be governing our lives. When we know the truth, the trust will be inherent because we will follow the process that God laid before us. We hear with our spiritual ears what God is saying. We will then be encouraged to be the mouthpiece of God to those around us who have not decided to follow the way of Christ or have not yet heard that He is the Way. Pastor encourages us to take time daily to hear what God is saying and be a witness - to know where Jesus is in our life so that we can help lead someone else to Him.

Paul is our example of what happens if we choose a Christ-centered life. On the road to Damascus, Paul's life became one fueled by God. This new life allowed him to live in any circumstance, whether there was scarcity or abundance. As a result of being Christ-centered, Paul's future was established in the path ordained by God. Paul physically came back to that pivotal point on the road to Damascus to demonstrate to others the transformation that had taken place in his life.

When we embrace what God provides, we can create an opportunity for other people to receive from God. When the Word of God is relevant in our lives, our actions and speech will reflect a cooperation with the purposes of God.

Spiritual strength is created in the secret place. God provides strength in the areas of your life that you allow to align with the will of God. When we move to allow Him free access to our lives, we will move from surface knowledge of God to a place that will create change in our perspective of what is going on around us. The freedom afforded in the secret place allows us to get things right. It will influence how we interact with everything around us.

You must fight to keep your secret place. Practicing the 5 daily questions can help you identify and maintain a life fueled by God. Your testimonies create a platform to witness to others. If you accept what God has given you through Jesus in the secret place, you will be able to extend the same to others.
