Bryan Fischer here with the Life and Liberty Minute. In World War Two, many people like Corrie Ten Boom lied to the Nazis to protect innocent Jews hiding in their homes. Is what they did right or wrong? A story from ancient Israel may help. In the days of Moses, the Hebrew midwives refused to kill newborn male babies when Pharaoh ordered them to because they feared God. They lied to Pharaoh when he asked them about it, saying the Hebrew women were so vigorous the babies were already born by the time they got there. Rather than rebuke these midwives, God honored them, blessing them with families of their own. The lesson: it is not wrong to lie to the evil to protect the innocent. When we lie, we are usually protecting the evil - that’s us - from the innocent, the people we are lying to - and that’s wrong. But there was everything right about lying to Nazis to protect innocent Jews.
