I'm a writer and musician from San Francisco, California, now living in Castiglion Fiorentino, Italy. I've played guitar since I was 13, and started writing songs at age 16. Most of my life I've made a living writing and played music on the side, while my brother Jonathan, like many of our friends, became a professional musician. I've taken up guitar and songwriting seriously again since leaving California, and want to share my music and find like-minded musicians to play with. Like, in a band even. You might know my name as the writer of the long-running advice column "Since You Asked" on Salon.com and now on my own site, www.carytennis.com. I also co-wrote a book that helps creative people finish their projects, called "Finishing School: The Happy Ending to that Writing Project You Can't Seem to Get Done," published by Penguin/Tarcher. Drop me a line! Enjoy what you find here.
Here is the original Piermarco vocal&guitar track along with 2 bass demo tracks, they should all match up and be ok for importing into Ableton ... or just to listen, they're just ideas ...

The A side of the Repeat Offenders first single, written by, I believe, Vicki and Susan and Paul (all I did was play that guitar solo).--ct

I love the Dire Straits song "Sultans of Swing" and with the help of my guitar teacher Michele Castellani I worked out this one-minute solo portion.
This song we wrote in only a few hours in the Brett Perkins "Listening Room" songwriting workshop at Residence Le Santucce in Castiglion Fiorentino in March 2019. Amazing! I love this little tune and hope you do too.--Cary Tennis
I wrote this in 2013 and didn't do much with it because at the time it felt a tad unpatriotic, insufficiently optimistic, kind of alarmist. Now it just feels like, duh.
They started out "not doing anything" but when her husband found out he threw her out of the house and filed for divorce. What's wrong with this picture?
This is a song by the band I was in in San Francisco in the early 1980s, the Repeat Offenders. If memory serves, it was written by Vicki Wong with Susan Wood, and the band itself. I was in the band and ought to know but I wasn't always paying strict attention. All I know for sure is that I didn't write it, and that's me on the guitar solo. It's about political revolution. Ha ha, we thought there was going to be one. That was a long time ago. I still feel this is our best song.
