From fluffing your well-rehearsed answers to ruining that first impression, job interviews are stressful. Despite the hours spent drawing up your resume, applying to different posts, and practicing for your interview, when the time comes to shine, many people stumble, damaging their prospects of getting hired. So, how can we improve interview confidence enough to ensure the next interview we sit for goes according to plan?
In this article, we look at how hypnotherapy can work to assist people who struggle during job interviews, providing them with the tools and guidance they need to face their future employers with confidence. Whether you’re just starting out in your career or are applying for a high-power CEO position, hypnotherapy for job interviews can help you to nail your interview process, giving you the calm, focused confidence you need to impress and get hired.
Why job interviews are so toughEven the most well-prepared job candidates, boasting the best qualifications, extensive experience, and talent, can choke when it matters most during an interview. Sitting down in front of a prospective employer is unsettling and can trigger interview anxiety in an instant. Whether drawing a blank while answering an important question or blurting out a sentence that doesn’t represent who you are, even ice-cold job hunters can get it wrong.
During interviews, people are often required to provide detailed, compelling answers on the spot to questions that are either too vague or are nearly impossible to answer correctly. This leaves many people stressed and anxious before heading into the interview, dooming them to failure before they’ve even begun.
And let’s not forget that many people interviewing for work are desperately in need of income. They are counting on getting this job to make ends meet, only compounding the pressure already on them.
Preparing for your interview with confidenceBefore even reaching your interview, first, you need to apply for the job. Many people looking for work find themselves unable to even submit an application in the first place. Why? Because of fear. They’re afraid that, after taking the plunge and sending off their CV, they’ll end up failing in the interview.
This means that the interview anxiety and stress is there from the very beginning, holding you back and increasing the likelihood of failure. But if you can overcome this first hurdle, you’re already on your way to success. Like Vee, who found the confidence she needed to make the move:
Yippee! Linda, Muchas Gracias, thank you SO much. If it wasn’t for all your work, I would not have applied for this job. You’re wonderful!
Vee, Perth
But what is it that Vee found that helped her to improve interview confidence enough to apply for a job successfully? Let’s find out.
How hypnotherapy can help land you that dream jobHypnotherapy carries many benefits and advantages that people have been using for centuries to combat anxiety, fight pain and manage trauma. But the practice has also proven effective in helping people to find the self-belief and courage within themselves to make brave decisions and live more confident lives.
From dealing with addiction to healing mental wounds, managing anxiety and facing serious fears or phobias, hypnotherapy has the power to change every aspect of our lives and to continue doing so for decades. Here’s another account of how someone discovered how hypnotherapy for job interviews can positively affect not only their private life but also their work life – for many years after receiving treatment.
Hi Linda. Just thought I’d drop you a line and thank you for the two hypnosis sessions I had with you back in 2005 and the positive effects those sessions have had on me. Since then, my life has changed dramatically. I have more confidence in myself and my abilities, not that I didn’t have any to start with, but I think the sessions helped to unlock certain doors which were locked. My home life has remained steady and reassuring, but the real difference has occurred in my work. I am now in the drawing office and enjoying the new environment and the challenges thrown at me. But I feel within myself I can tackle just about anything (humanly possible). Well, that’s all, and thanks again.
Drew
After almost two decades, Drew can still feel hypnotherapy’s powerful benefits. Hypnotherapy has the ability to permeate nearly every aspect of our lives, even into places we never thought it could. Hypnosis treatments, provided by professional therapists, are long-lasting and effective, giving clients what they need to face their challenges and difficulties – especially when it comes to fear.
Hypnocare – Say goodbye to nervy interviewsUnderstanding what causes interview anxiety and nerves is the first step to effective hypnotherapy for improving interview confidence. Specially trained therapists are skilled at identifying and then addressing the triggers and fears which can plague interviews and other high-pressure situations where we’re required to perform.
Getting to the interview part is one thing; earning the job offer is another. That’s why our therapists are trained to guide their clients in finding the mental prowess and calm to take them through the entire process, from applying for the job to navigating the interview itself. And the results are impressive:
After our last couple of sessions, I survived 2 job interviews and was successful in getting both jobs. I have you to thank for that! I am feeling good for now but get in contact should I need another session.
Lisa
As we can see, hypnotherapy for job interviews has worked for Lisa and others like her, and it can work for you too. At Hypnocare, we understand what it takes to overcome stress and anxiousness. We know what it means to unlock our real potential and demonstrate what we’re truly capable of. Reach out for a consultation, even if you’re not looking to interview for a new job. If all was ok my mind would search for the next problem. I came out of my second session with Linda and this had disappeared. I felt light. I had a realisation that whatever my situation, I had a choice. It was highly liberating and has persevered. I ended up studying hypnosis and have a new respect for what Linda helped me achieve. She's genuine and down to earth. Thanks Linda Linda is a very experienced practitioner in the field. I feel very lucky to have had support from such a seasoned professional. Thank you for all you have done to help me progress Linda. It is much appreciated. It’s been 8 weeks smoke free and the idea of picking up a cigarette is so unappealing I now sometimes wonder how I was ever a smoker. My skin is better, I'm not carrying around guilt every day, I don't stink, I'm not as anxious, basically I'm so happy it's all behind me and count my lucky stars I don't have to live that smoker life anymore. I think I was really ready to quit this time, and can't thank Linda enough for helping me make that happen. I didn't know if I had the strength to quit for good, but the session we did reminded me just how strong I am. Thank you millions and millions Linda, that one afternoon in your chair has changed my life and helped me kick a habit I've struggled with for over 10 years. Thank you so very much 🙏🙏 In 2008 I visited Linda in her Subiaco clinic to treat a psychological tick involving constant jaw clenching/clicking (probably around 200 times per day - for years). After just 1 session it stopped dead immediately - 100%. It has now remained a forgotten habit for 9 years... had I not gone to her, I would have probably developed an arthritic jaw by now! Wow! There are no words that can really express my transformation after a few sessions with Linda. When I initially came to see Linda, I was suffering from anxiety and depression from a number of traumatic experiences I had been through in recent years. My anxiety and depression had started impacting my work, relationships and health. I averaged 2 HRS of sleep a night and sat on my couch every painfully stricken day, debilitated by everything that was going on. After my first session, I drove out of Linda’s office feeling light as a feather; I slept like a baby that night and signed up to a gym. By my 3rd session, I was comfortable with speaking to a group of people, I was sleeping regularly and had a huge motivation to go to the gym six days a week. Not only is my life on track, I am following my dreams. Things that I promised myself I would do one day, I am already doing. What stood out for me, was that Linda’s work taught my inner being to help myself, rather than rely on other people to help me find my way. Linda’s work not only instantaneously helped me, the effects of Linda’s work has unfolded over the last 3 months. Thank you Linda. You are truly a blessing.

Human beings evolved to live on land and spent millennia sailing the seas, but commercial air travel has only been widely accessible since the 1950s. As many as 40% of people experience some fear of flying, and almost everyone dislikes having to do so. But flying allows us to explore the world, visit family, go on holiday, and do business. So, why then, do so some people dislike it? One word – fear.
Many people hate flying and would prefer to avoid it altogether. But today, it isn’t easy to travel without flying – especially if you’re from Australia. Aside from having to go airborne for many hours just to leave the country, travelling from places like Perth is hard unless you’re prepared to step onto an aircraft.
But while most people simply bury those in-flight feelings of anxiousness, some of us are prone to acute panic attacks, extended bouts of stress in the run-up to a flight, and even physical symptoms that make flying a nightmare experience. This severe fear, also called clinical aerophobia, afflicts an estimated 2.5% to 6% of adults and can cause many problems in our lives, hampering our ability to travel at all.
This blog looks at what causes a fear of flying, how hypnotherapy can be used to treat this anxiousness, and how we can take to the air stress-free while transforming our travel into a calming experience.
The problem with flight
Since the Wright Brothers took to the skies over 100 years ago and the first commercial airliners started ferrying people around the globe, people have always been afraid of flying. Flying isn’t a biological norm for us. Just like people get seasick on the ocean, so too do stress levels increase when taking to the air or even thinking about it. We’re not designed to fly, so when we do, our fight or flight response kicks in. The problem is that there’s nowhere to go once those seatbelt signs have been switched on.
Aside from those terrifying Hollywood movies showing planes crashing to Earth, news of plane accidents, technical design flaws, and even the risk of warfare far below us, is enough to put the bravest of us off flying for good. And then there’s COVID…
But in truth, flying is incredibly safe. You’re 500 times more likely to die in a car crash, eight times more likely to die by electrocution, and even four times more likely to get struck (and killed) by lightning than you are to die from flying. At any given moment, there are half a million people in the skies, and with more than 180 000 pre-COVID flights per day versus an average of 8 (mostly non-fatal) commercial airliner accidents per year, the odds are in your favour.
Why people fear flying
So why the fear of flying? While we think we’re afraid of dying in an aeroplane, we’re really afraid of flying at all. Our brains just love to play out the worst-case scenario. People fear flying for numerous reasons, and thankfully, we can confront and deal with almost every single one of them, especially by using the techniques employed by hypnotherapy.
Fear of crashing – This is where people are concerned that the plane will fail or not make it to its final destination. This is one of the most common fears related to flying.
Confined spaces – People living with claustrophobia are particularly vulnerable to developing a fear of flying, and this fear of confined spaces can often be misinterpreted as aerophobia.
Less oxygen – Aircraft cabins need to be pressurized at high altitudes, but the pressure is still only equivalent to what you’d experience at the top of a 6 000 to 8 000-foot mountain peak. This can leave you feeling short of breath and on the verge of a panic attack.
Afraid of heights – While gazing over the edge of a 50-storey balcony would give most people the sweats, cruising at 30 000 feet above terra-firma can be downright terrifying for almost everyone.
Crowded space – Many of us naturally dislike being crammed into strange places with unfamiliar people. This isn’t necessarily a disorder, it’s simply a preference that can feel like a fear when we’re placed in uncomfortable situations with many people close to one another. Like on board a plane.
Germs and infection – We’re still battling the lingering effects of COVID-19, and many people are still terrified of the threat posed by the deadly virus. Despite the controversial effectiveness of vaccines and mask mandates, many people feel that air travel is a significant exposure risk to COVID and other diseases.
How Hypnocare can help you beat that fear of flying – Perth’s hypnotherapy experts
At Hypnocare, we understand that living in Perth means wanting to travel beyond Western Australia requires a need to fly. We’re here to help you deal with the fears and stresses that can come from even thinking about going airborne.
For years, we’ve helped thousands of our clients overcome the fears, stresses, anxieties, and pain caused by everyday challenges, trauma, and, yes, flying. Give us a call, or reach out to learn more about what our trained hypnotherapists can do for you.

Our entire life is defined by change. From the day we’re born, this ongoing process is happening all the time. From physical changes in our bodies and environment to changes in how we think and interact with others, as we get older, these changes can get very difficult to accept. We become comfortable with the status quo, refusing to let go of the things we’ve become familiar with, and this can lead to us resisting change.
The brain is a stubborn organ. Despite the infinite complexities of how the mind works, it still struggles to process and deal with change. Human beings have evolved to resist changes that we are not comfortable with or accustomed to – irrespective of whether these changes are good or bad for us.
Change is almost always associated with risk, and our resistance to change originates in our natural adversity to risk. For example, switching jobs may generate a better income, but we risk taking on new, unknown responsibilities we may not enjoy or be able to handle. A new partner might bring us excitement and happiness, but we risk regretting ending a relationship with someone we know intimately. And a different, improved diet may mean a healthier body, but we risk missing out on the foods we love.
Overcoming resistance to change is a process. It requires a concerted effort to accept the evolving nature of things and then learn to live with them. Many people think of change only when it has a significant impact on our future. In reality, the overwhelming majority of change occurs among the smaller things in our lives, and this is where we can use hypnosis to prepare our minds for significant changes.
Change at Home
Home is where the heart is, and any change here can greatly influence our state of mind. From parents dealing with a child heading off to university to a teenager having to move away from their friends, these changes have the potential to cause discomfort and anxiety. Death in the family and even the birth of a new family member are realities that we must accept. Dealing with this upheaval, however, can be challenging at best and overwhelming at worst.
Hypnotherapy allows us to identify and better accept these changes without letting other aspects of our lives interfere with this important process. At home, we trust and love our families, but when changes begin to affect our relationships with loved ones, we often find that we have nowhere to turn. Hypnosis is an effective method of dealing with the emotional stress caused by changes at home, allowing us to confront and accept them gently.
Change at Work
One of the most disruptive forms of change can occur in our professional lives. When our job security is threatened, we experience high levels of fear and stress, over and above the pressures of making a living and financially preparing for the future. Many jobs come with constant workplace changes in personnel, responsibility and station. While a change in seniority – like a promotion – may seem like a good thing, we risk failing in our new position or becoming overwhelmed by work.
Changing a job or career can be extremely high-risk, so many people simply remain in positions that make them miserable. However, this damaging unhappiness can be challenged through various hypnosis techniques that help us find the strength to choose our professional path. Through steady affirmations and positive thinking, patients can find the courage and motivation to make a move into something new and exciting.
Change in Health
The older we get, the more likely our bodies are to break down. This is a biological fact of life that affects every living thing on earth. So why do we resist accepting our physical limitations? Because of fear. With so much information about terminal diseases and illnesses peppering the internet, it’s no wonder we’re always living in a state of concern about our health.
So when our bodies start to show signs of wear and tear, we either ignore them or obsess about the state of our health. For hundreds of years, therapy has allowed people to explore and accept the changes in their bodies. By encouraging the mind to acknowledge our finite existence, hypnosis can foster a much more positive outlook on our future, unlocking our ability to accept these changes.
Accepting Change
While change is both difficult and important, it is a crucial and unavoidable aspect of life that defines how happy we are. We instinctively resist change, often without looking at the potential positive long-term effects it can have on our lives. Change is stressful and challenging to accept, but we can focus on using it to our benefit once we stop resisting it.
At Hypnocare, we work to assist our clients in accepting change beyond their control while managing the changes they have an influence over. Our therapists base their sessions and techniques on guiding the mind into a state that is open to change while using positivity and affirmations to reinforce our acceptance of it.
Change is unavoidable. How you handle it defines how easily you can overcome resistance to changes in life, work and health. Embrace the changes in your life with ease and in comfort with Hypnocare.

But one of the things that makes life so exciting is not knowing what the future holds, and this – unfortunately – can lead to high amounts of stress and anxiety, as we worry about what tomorrow might bring.
The good news is that this fear of the future can be addressed and overcome through accepting that we can never know what to expect in our lives and working to change our fear into a sense of positive optimism. Hypnotherapy is one of the most effective methods known to work in helping people to challenge their fear of the future.
Human beings like to be in control of their lives. We spend vast amounts of effort trying to dictate our futures, from choosing a profession that will allow us to earn a decent living to selecting a partner who we hope will make us happy for the rest of our lives.
However, in reality, there is only so much that we can do to dictate our life paths, with the rest up to our social connections, external environment and, well, pure chance. This fact can cause unease within our minds in the knowledge that some things are out of our control, often leading to stressful thoughts and concern.
Live in the Now
Having a fear of the future is called “Chronophobia”. In a nutshell, this specific fear can be described as an irrational yet often unrelenting fear of time and of the passage of time. This fear can often penetrate into other aspects of our lives, influencing and sometimes inflaming other fears around our health, finances, and general happiness.
Various therapies subscribe to a core principle of encouraging people to live in the present moment, or “The Now”. This healthy belief guides us to let go of the past and redirect our attention away from the future, focussing our minds on the immediate moment. Living in the now allows us to enjoy what we have in the present instead of worrying about the past or future things that we cannot change.
Try to Look on the Bright Side
While this is easier said than done, a positive attitude and outlook on life can greatly benefit our mental health. When we are faced with a distressing situation, we are told to focus on the positive outcomes of the problem. However, in reality, this can be almost impossible.
Hypnotherapy allows us to slowly train our subconscious to see the bigger picture in things – both the good and the bad. While some philosophies tell us to ignore the bad, hypnotherapists are very much aware that dealing with both the ups and downs in life is crucial to wellness.
When we look to the future during a particularly tough time, the road ahead can look very bleak and challenging. It is in these moments that our mental health can take a turn for the worse. It is only when we find ways to consider both the bright and dark sides of our future that we can choose the path we want to take. Hypnotherapy works to show you that you have a choice when facing the future.
No Matter What, It Always Gets Better
Imagine you’ve just lost your job or have recently been dumped after a long relationship. In the hours and days following these difficult events, looking to the future can feel like staring into a pitch-black abyss. However, after a couple of days or weeks, the transformation is amazing! You will no doubt be back to looking for a new job (one that you might actually enjoy), and you’re much more likely to be back on the dating scene.
The same is true of almost everything in life. Time heals most things, but we need to be patient while waiting for the pain to subside. It is during those dark early days that our fear of a future we didn’t plan for can seem overwhelming and even suffocating. But, remember – no matter what, things will ALWAYS get better.
Defeating Your Fear
We all plan for the future we dream of but seldom see the outcome we wanted. This is a part of life and allows us to face difficult challenges that can often lead to new, better opportunities. It is how we manage our fears and outlook on the future that defines how well we deal with this phobia.
At Hypnocare, we are acutely aware that the future is not set in stone and the stressful feelings this can cause. Our therapists are people, too, many of whom share these fears and draw from their own experiences to help patients overcome their challenges. So, if you’re staring into a future that frightens you, remember you’re not alone. Pay us a visit, and we’ll gladly work with you to see a brighter, better future.

During this time, the body needs to recover and heal. This time is often characterised by pain and stress as we regain our strength during the post-surgery phase. Hypnotherapy has been shown to aid the healing process, speed up recovery times, and alleviate pain in the days after leaving the operating theatre.
When we wake up in the post-operative ward to the smiling faces of family and health professionals, we’re naturally relieved at the realisation that the operation is over. In the hours and days following the procedure, however, pain and discomfort invariably set in, as the body gets to work healing itself. Organs, muscles and skin begin to naturally repair the damaged tissue as the immune system fights off any infections that might sneak into our bodies. This post-operative phase is a crucial period in the surgery cycle and by far the longest.
Post-Surgery Recovery is Tough
Our bodies are pumped full of antibiotics, pain meds and anti-inflammatories, designed to assist the recovery process and get us back up on our feet. But recovery takes time, and during this painful and uncomfortable period, our minds take strain. While we’re bed-ridden and away from home, anxiety and fear can complicate the wound healing process, leading to a longer recovery phase, higher costs, and stress.
Medicine Isn’t the Only Answer
While medicine can only do so much to alleviate our anguish, too many people still rely on pain medication to manage these difficulties, often leading to an unhealthy dependence on drugs. The same goes for those who have just received surgery. Doctors are obliged to reduce your medication following surgery, minimising the side effects caused by these chemicals, and allowing the body to recover its strength. Once this happens, the painful reconstruction of your cells and tissue begins to dominate the post-operative experience. Spending an extended period in the hospital can also lead to expensive medical bills, increasing stress, compounded with the pain associated with recovery.
How Hypnotherapy Can Help
Hypnotherapy is a powerful aid in taking control of your pain and accelerating recovery. It has been well documented as an effective treatment for post-op trauma, manging more than just pain. A variety of studies of surgery patients undergoing hypnotherapy have shown exciting results. In one case, observed patients were divided into three groups: Patients who received support from a psychologist, those who underwent post-operative hypnotherapy, and those who received no additional therapy at all. The results were outstanding. The patients who received hypnotherapy not only recovered quicker, but photo analysis also showed significant scar reduction in those who received hypnotherapy, versus those who received psychological support only or no therapy at all1. Beyond this, the added benefits of post-operative hypnotherapy extend to putting the mind into a calm and relaxed state, allowing patients to overcome the psychological trauma of the surgery experience and its associated anxiety.
The Mind can Heal
The power of the mind allows us to take control of our bodies, empowering us to quicken our healing consciously. While the science is still in its infancy, more and more evidence is emerging of our ability to influence what happens inside us. Hypnotherapy allows us to tap into the human will and effect change on ourselves. Through positive thoughts, affirmations and deep relaxation, our subconsciousness can be harnessed and put to good use in helping us to heal.
From pain management to accelerating recovery times, Hypnocare can teach you to prime your body for a surgical procedure and then take control of your recovery afterwards. By using various tried and tested hypnotherapy techniques, Hypnocare’s therapists can guide you through each phase of the surgery process.

Despite the wonders of the human being, our physical components are prone to breaking down every now and again. While a healthy lifestyle, exercise and proper diet may allow us to stave off most ailments, stress, ageing and genetic disorders can sometimes mean that we require the help of a surgeon to address and repair any problems that might arise. But how do we deal with the stresses and trauma that invasive surgery causes to our minds? Hypnotherapy can be an effective, comfortable tool that allows us to prepare for surgery effectively.
Surgery – Unpleasant, but Necessary
The last thing that anybody wants to hear from their doctor are the words: “You’re going to need surgery.” For most people, the thought of surgery conjures up images of scalpel blades, heart monitors and operating tables. But the marvels of modern medicine means that sometimes surgery is a necessary concession that may even save your life. From mending a pesky tooth to replacing a heart, around the world, everyday people owe their lives and happiness to successful surgery.
Surgery Is Stressful
However, many people struggle terribly with the fear and stress caused by an impending surgical procedure even when this may lead to a better life. Despite the overwhelming rates of success, we often hear stories of fatal emergencies arising during operations, while the thought of somebody cutting into your body is no pleasant concept. After all, we’re placing our lives into the hands of healthcare professionals whom we might not know very well.
Why Surgery is so Tough
So how do we manage the pressure that we face in the run-up to that all-important procedure? While doctors do their best to explain the intricacies of an operation, more often than not, we’re clueless as to the real risks and details about what it is that they’re going to be doing. All we can hope for is that everything goes well, and we awake to the news that we’re going to be OK.
Many patients will subsequently begin to develop high levels of stress and anxiety, fearing the worst as the surgery date draws near. During this period, it is critical that we try to maintain a positive state of mind. Doing so has been proven to prepare the body for the challenges ahead and assist dramatically in the post-operative recovery period. As we prepare for surgery, the anxiety associated with the procedure causes the brain to release the stress hormone cortisol, which comes in response to our autonomic nervous systems triggering the ‘fight or flight’ mechanism. This inevitably causes more fear, stress and anxiety.
Preoperative Hypnosis – The Surgeons’ Choice
Preoperative hypnosis is a technique used by hypnotherapists on their patients to assist them in their journey towards surgery itself. Through positive affirmations and relaxation methods, therapists work to introduce a sense of calm into the thoughts associated with the surgical procedure. Sessions are administered right up to the date of the surgery, and studies have shown that preoperative hypnosis not only primes the unconscious to relax the body during surgery (boosting the chances of a successful surgery), but also assists in speeding up recovery after the procedure has been completed. Preoperative hypnotherapy is safe, painless and offers a litany of benefits to both the patient and their surgeon.
Endless Benefits
As a result of preoperative hypnotherapy, the need for additional medications diminishes, saving hospital costs and lowering anxiety both before and after the operation. At Hypnocare, therapists are not only well versed in assisting people in dealing with the stress of an upcoming surgery, but some have even put theses hypnosis techniques to work for themselves, experiencing the benefits of preoperative hypnosis first-hand.
So, for those struggling to come to terms with the stress, fear and anxiety that comes with waiting for surgery, know that Hypnocare is here to assist you in preparation for the big day.

Dentist related phobias, related to dentist offices, chairs, or even dentists themselves, are surprisingly common. The reasons behind these fears varies, but some of the more common ones include:

Having an irrational phobia or fear can be harmful and dangerous. Phobias are subconscious feelings of fear that one typically develops during their lives.
What triggers a panic attack? Anxiety and Depression Association of America or the ADAA define panic attack as a sudden attack of discomfort or fear.
According to this body, this attack may reach to climax barely 10 minutes after onset.
The fear of flying is one of the most prevailing phobias, with an approximate 1 in 10 people experiencing strong flight anxiety. This may seem like an irrational fear for those who do not suffer from anxiety. But your mind can create the anxiety feeling when it thinks you are in danger. Our subconscious minds primary function is to protects us, so if something is perceived as a threat, actions are undertaken. Even though flying is proven to be a safe way to travel, the fear of flying phobia still grips a portion of the population.
