Mirrored Voices is a radio show about gender issues in society hosted by Gracie Lynn Besse, Hope Kabel, and Dario Silva, broadcast through Encuentro Radio at encuentroradio.co. It airs every Wednesday morning from 10:00-11:00 Bogota Time (11:00-12:00 EST).
Our 40th episode is a follow-up to our discussion on gender and religion. This time we are focusing on LGBTQ+ identities in religion. Hope discusses Judaism and homosexuality, Nils shares briefly about the pope and the Catholic church, and Hannah talks about the importance of affirming communities.
Our 39th episode covers just a small part of violence against women in honor of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women coming up on November 25. Hannah, Dario, and Nils talk about some of the dangerous situations for women in countries like Colombia, the United States, China, and throughout parts of Europe. Hannah also discusses Female Genital Mutilation and some of the ways activists are fighting to end the practice. We close talking about ways that CEPALC here in Colombia is working to end violence against women.
Our 38th episode of Mirrored Voices takes on the lasting effects of Colonialism. Hannah and Dario talk about some of the justifications and reasoning people historically used to colonize such as commerce, religion, and "White Man's Burden" and the lasting effects they had. Hope discusses the mistreatment of women and native bodies and Nils talks about Neo-colonialism and gender.
Our 37th episode of Mirrored Voices is all about Halloween. Where did the holiday come from? Where did the idea of witches originate? We also talk about some of the ways Halloween traditions and costumes participate in cultural appropriation and the stigma surrounding mental illness.

We talk about some of the dangers of solo travel but also the resources available. Mike Pacheco and Bailey Martin, friends of Mirrored Voices, also offer personal experiences living abroad.
