Lowerhouse Cricket Club
Housecast is the podcast of Lowerhouse Cricket Club in Lancashire. It was conceived as an idea in late 2018, in a conversation between, Jez Hope, Joe Martin and Adam Hope.
Tales told at the club need to be cherished, remembered and enjoyed over a pint. This is part of what our club is about, we thought about getting these recorded and the idea for the podcast was born. After a dodgy start, recording the first episode in the West End Room, the podcast has gone from strength to strength. Weirdly, with the COVID19 pandemic, it gave us a chance to get together more (over Zoom) and invite the clubs characters. . Part way through our recording and editing, Gary Moorhouse and Joe Beneduce got involved, to bolster the team and Managing Director Matthew Stansfield joins us when he can be bothered.
A lot of effort goes into editing the podcast, with all of the team (except Jez because computers aren't his forte) having a go at editing episodes, so it's great to hear such great feedback, when we get it.

Cricket had been played in the village for some time, but in the summer of 1862 two teams, Habergham
Garibaldians and Britannia, had merged to form the present club. In August, 1862, some of them went,
literally cap in hand, to their boss at John Dugdale and Brothers Cotton Mill, to ask for permission to turn one of his fields into a cricket ground. Cricket being considered a most respectable pastime, JamesDugdale lent them the field, rent free, and the story of Lowerhouse Cricket Club began.
In 1914, when the club held a grand fund-raising bazaar, they published a lovely handbook, which included a detailed history of the club to that date.

We are able to bring to you today, the Radio Lancashire commentary from the unforgettable 2004 Worlsey Cup Final. The tape, was recorded by the late Alan Cottam (Chazs Dad) and we are indebted to him securing this piece of Lowerhouse history at the time.

We are able to bring to you today, the Radio Lancashire commentary from the unforgettable 2004 Worlsey Cup Final. The tape, was recorded by the late Alan Cottam (Chazs Dad) and we are indebted to him securing this piece of Lowerhouse history at the time.

In episode 15, we speak to another former pro, this time a blast from the past. Our pro from 1983 to 1986, Mr Kirti Azad.
Kirtivardhan Bhagwat Jha Azad(born 2 January 1959) is a politician and former cricketer and who played 7 Tests and 25 ODIs for India between 1980 and 1986.
Kirti won the cricket World Cup with India and played for Lowerhouse the day after, believe it or not.
This is a fascinating listen, one not to miss.

We have 2005 pro and assistant coach to Justin Langer of the Australian cricket team. His coaching career has been immense since he left us.
He played Test Cricket for Australia
After retiring as a player, he became a cricket coach. He has coached Leicestershire, Victoria and the Melbourne Renegades. He won the Sheffield Shield in his first year as senior coach of Victoria.
He was also bowling coach for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
He has been appointed as Head Coach of Rajasthan Royals for Upcoming Indian Premier League season.
On 30 October 2019, he was announced as the new senior assistant coach of the Australian national men's cricket team.
In October 2019, he was appointed as assistant coach to Justin Langer with the Australian men’s cricket team.
