Working as a psych nurse in the early eighties, we did call them "defects," of course there was modifiers attached. Every year it seemed to expand geometrically and at least 90% where left leaning liberal mindset. Perhaps that is the trigger or the result of this defect. Enough of these defective personalities and damaged persons attained prominence and power and I believe that is when and where the mentally ill where removed from asylums and mainstreamed. The divide of affluent persons and marginal means or poor exacerbated this gulf and where further marginalized and purposefully dumbed down so you have hordes of chronic homeless, drug users and plain under-educated lazy people, so out of this diaspora you increase the defect and becomes the dominate trait expressed in our DNA.
