Incandescents are useful if you need the heat. eg, heat lamps for new-hatched chicks. eg, traffic lights in snowy areas.

Did you hear about the northern cities which replaced the bulbs in traffic lights with LEDs (or maybe got entirely new traffic light units to make use of LEDs; the articles weren't clear). They bragged about the energy savings ... until they got complaints about the lights being covered with snow, and some people fighting traffic tickets because the lights had been obscured. Turns out that the heat from the bulbs melted the snow which covered the colored lenses. This was a thing that was known most of a century ago but had been forgotten. One of the modern approaches to fixing it is to continue to use LEDs but put a heat coil around the colored lens, to melt the snow. One might wonder how much more expensive traffic light units will be, and how much more often they'll break down because of temperature sensors, heating units, control circuitry, and who knows what else.
