Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh and the husband of Queen Elizabeth II, died on the 9th of April at the age of 99. He was the longest-serving consort in the history of the British monarchy, but he was also a colourful character in his own right: a young naval officer, a moderniser who pushed the boundaries of the traditional monarchy, and a quick wit with a good sense of humour.
