This year’s Arts and Appetizers fundraiser hosted by the Brenham ISD Education Foundation is one for the record books.

(Mark Whitehead)Final numbers provided by Brenham ISD show Thursday’s event brought in $82,915, breaking last year’s record by $6,579.

The live auction accounted for over half of the final amount at $41,500. Sponsorships made up $26,750, while the silent auction tallied $9,545. Ticket sales from the prize drawing totaled $5,120.

This was the 18th year of the Arts and Appetizers event. Students receive half of the proceeds, with the other half going to the Brenham ISD Education Foundation for teacher mini-grants.

The Education Foundation has given out over $500,000 in mini-grants since it was created in 2004. Just last year, it gave out over $115,000.
