The Blinn Board of Trustees approved higher student rates and fees beginning in the fall 2023 semester at its meeting Monday.

The new tuition for students will be $2 more per semester credit hour for in-district and out-of-district students, and $1 more per semester credit hour for non-resident students. General fees per semester credit hour will increase by $2. Meanwhile, new housing and meal rates are going up by an average of 5 percent.

Vice Chancellor for Business and Finance Richard Cervantes said the rate of inflation exceeds the increases that the College is implementing.

The College expects to receive an extra $2.3 million in revenue from the new tuition and fees. The adjusted housing and meal rates are projected to net a combined $609,000 in additional revenue.

In other items, the board authorized the College to negotiate and execute contracts for:

• roof tile and façade repairs at the Old Main Building, Parking Lot K expansion, and storm-related damage to Blinn College Park Apartments Buildings 5, 6, and 7 on the Brenham Campus;
• valve replacements and building automation system upgrades for Buildings G and H on the Bryan Campus;
• and custodial services on the Brenham, Bryan, and RELLIS campuses.
