Early voting kicks off on Monday for the municipal and school board elections in Brenham and Burton and the Blinn College Board of Trustees election.

The Washington County Courthouse Annex will be open for early voting from Monday to Friday, April 24-28, and on Monday and Tuesday, May 1-2, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

In the City of Brenham, the lone contested race is for mayor, pitting Keith Hofmann against Atwood Kenjura.

For Brenham ISD, four seats are up for election on the school board. Bonnie Brinkmeyer faces James Franke for Position 1. Position 2 incumbent Dr. Michael Altman faces Archer Archer. Kyle Hafner is running against Artis Edwards Sr. for Position 3, and Position 4 incumbent Kelvin Raven is challenged by David Jantzi.

The City of Burton has two races, one for mayor and one for Position 3 councilmember. David Zajicek and Karen Buck are vying for mayor, while Position 3 incumbent Jeff Eckhardt faces Peter Horn.

There are four candidates for three seats on the Burton School Board. They include incumbents Dean Fuchs, Misty Lucherk and Donna Putnam, as well as Ande Bostain.

The Blinn Board of Trustees race for Precinct 2 will feature Diane Kruse Kettler against Andrea Liner.

According to Washington County Elections Administrator Carol Jackson, there were 24,413 registered voters in the county as of the April 6th voter registration deadline.

For voters on Election Day, May 6th, there will be five polling locations: the Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library, Washington County Expo Event Center, Brenham VFW Hall, Blinn College Student Center and Burton American Legion Hall.

Applications for a ballot by mail must be submitted by Tuesday. All mailed applications must be received in the Washington County Elections Office by Tuesday at 5 p.m.
