In this week’s episode, Nick and Simon discus the topic of empowerment.  They discuss the relationship between power and responsibility and power and empowerment.  Delegation being an uncomfortable space to be in but it’s a necessary evil for organisations to remain agile and adaptable to any given situation.

They also discuss the direct correlation between the people’s approach to the work people are doing and their own values and the importance of making the work meaningful to individuals.  They also discuss the necessity to build both peoples confidence and skill levels for them to want to take on more responsibility and ultimately feel empowered.  This coupled with an importance in developing an ability not to micromanage people within your team and allow them to grow on their own terms, your role as a leader is the remove barriers not create them.  Listen to find out how.
