Hello! My name is Hira Karmachela a.k.a BABE ODED. On this occasion, I will share my experience to create animated retro pixel art for game splash screen using Clip Studio Paint.

Below is a summary of the steps explained via video.

Canvas Setup for Pixel Art Let's get started! Open Clip Studio Paint then create a new canvas. The final work we are going to create will be 1280px by 720px but to create pixel art, we only need to create 10% of that size. So the canvas dimensions we need are 128px by 72px.

Next, we have to set the grid to make it easier to draw pixels. Go to View > Grid.

Now we can see it on the canvas. But we still have to adjust the grid size. Go to View > Grid/Ruler Settings. Set the origin at the center and set the Gap (D) and Number of divisions to 1.

Retro Color Scheme Before we start compiling pixels. First, we need created a color palette that fits the retro style. Create a new layer to make it as a palette, name the layer as "retro palette". Below are the colors on the retro palette that we need.

For the rest we still need Black and White which we can take in the standard palette panel.

Tools Setup for Pixel Art OK! There are several tools that we can use to create pixel art with special settings such as lines, curves, and shape tools to create precise pixel objects. We need to turn off the Anti-Aliasing feature. Anti-Aliasing is a feature that makes the edges of digital image objects look smooth by adding and manipulating the color of the sample pixels around them.

With Anti-Aliasing of course pixel art won't look good. So, we have to disable this feature in the tool-property panel on the left. In the Anti-Aliasing section there are several levels, select "None".

OK! The rest we can use other tools as needed.

Retro Background Now let's have a pixel feast. We start by creating the background for the splash screen that we are going to create, of course in a retro style. I divide the canvas with a 1px thick line as the horizon dividing of the sky and ground area.

I decorate the background with mountains silhouette image. Use the line tool with black to draw the mountains on the right and left of the sunset image.

Now we move to the ground area, create a new layer to create a mesh over the ground. I use the line tool with Turquoise Blue color to make a precise design. Draw the line diagonally resting on a single point for perspective.

Retro Street Environment Next, we create objects for the environment. We're going to create a retro street atmosphere. It's simple, I will make road markings and a line of palm trees on the left and right shoulders of the road.

Next, create another new layer to make a palm tree. Use the dot pen tool to make it. Make it symmetrical on the right and left.

Retro Car Object OK! Now it's time to create the main model. Create a new layer for the retro car object. Use a dot pen to draw it.

Animating Process Now it's time to bring the scene to life. There are two parts that we will animate, namely the street environment and the lights in the buildings.

As the road markings move, the palm trees also have to shift toward the bottom of the canvas. From a logical perspective, the object that approaches the view will look bigger. So, as it shifted, the palm tree had to be scaled up.

Rendering and Publishing OK! I've finished composing and filling every 2 frames with the animated cel for a total of 24 frames.

Before we render and publish this animation. Let me remind you that this animation has dimensions of 128px by 72px. So that if we render it right away, the result we can see will be this size.

For that, we need to resize it first. Change the width to 1280px and the height to 720px. Then change the Interpolation method to Hard Edges. Then the image will be enlarged without destroying the pixel arrangement.

Hello! My name is Hira Karmachela a.k.a BABE ODED. In this post I will share my 4th NFT artwork for the #NoLepArt series. I made this work using frame by frame animation technique. The idea is to explore color in images created with line art techniques.

In this work, I made the character that don't form any figures but can create the illusion of meaningful gestures. One more thing, I really like processing letters and words, if you can read one stanza of the story in this work, it means you are a very observant person.

There are several marketplaces for NFT that are growing very fast this year. I try to choose a market that suits my art style. For this NFT work I chose to mint it at Hic et Nunc .

Title: When I Try to Change the World

One day, an artist gets lost in the digital world. He realized that art is done in a different way in the metaverse. No more streaks of paint on your face or T-shirt to prove yourself as an artist. However, if it does still want to be done, the artist no longer need to find a sponsor or pay the expensive cost to rent a luxury gallery to show off his art and once again prove himself as an artist.

Then, in his endless explorations in the digital world, the artist overhears the gurgling sound of a shiny digital object. Is that metal? Is it a coin?

Like a beetle hooked on a beam of light, the artist can not resist the steps that bring him to the depths of the digital world.

And please welcome to me, because I am the artist, and I am here!

Who am I?

Hi! My name is Karmachela a.k.a BABE ODED. I'm Digital Artist who used to make high quality images who are compliant with sharia. A little story about my journey in studying and working in the art world. I am an Indonesian, a nation of diverse cultures and uniqueness. I love the original art of my people. I really appreciate and admire it. But, I am not a fanatical person and tied to one of tradition of the art.

I am a person who believes that the world always has renewal, including the art world. Therefore, I decided to become a Digital Artist and explore the world of art as much as possible.

I started to study the art world academically since 2005. I studied at vocational school majoring in visual communication design. As a visionary person, I think critically about how I can live from art. There is a strong stigma attached to an artist at the time about his small income.

I think, this stigma is formed by two factors. First, because of the lack of knowledge about the art process so the appreciation of the artwork is very small. Secondly, because people feel art is a tradition that anyone can easily learn and make it.

Then, I think that the stigma exists only in some populations. If I am stuck in an unfavorable population, then I just need to get out and go into another population.

In 2008, I began to explore the digital world. And, realizing that my artwork can reach the international world. I am sure, that of the billions of people in the world, there must be some of them who can appreciate my art. In fact it is not easy but I keep trying.

In 2014, I managed to make pixel work and make the first dollar in my life. You know, I come from a country that does not use the dollar as the main currency. So, earning the dollar becomes a very unusual thing for me and it is very proud.

It's been running for almost seven years, and I'm grateful I've always earned dollars from my artwork. I work professionally as a Freelancer Artist at [Freelancer.com] https://www.freelancer.com/u/karmachela.html )

What am I doing?

However, this year I have an obsession after getting to know the crypto not only talking about trading but also about content creation. I have a vision to study the world of crypto through art and contribute to it through art. To be honest, I would love to make artwork and be appreciated or get paid using crypto-assets.

Hello! My name is Hira Karmachela a.k.a BABE ODED. On this occasion, I will share my experience to create sprite animation in pixel style using Clip Studio Paint.

The video above use Bahasa. Please read this post to know the summary in English. Below is a summary of the steps explained via video.

Download and Install Pixel Studio

Of course, before starting to work, make sure you have downloaded and installed the Pixel Studio application on your smartphone or computer. Below are the links that you can access according to the device you have:

PC-Microsoft Store

PC-Steam

Google Play Store

App Store

Setting Up a New Project

We start by setting the dimensions and background color of the document or canvas. There are presets available to make it easier for us to set the canvas dimensions, you can choose 16 x 16, 32, 64, or 128 all in pixels. For the background color I chose to use a transparent background. Do not forget to provide a title for the project to be created.

Understanding User Interface

I'm using Pixel Studio for PC. So there will be a slight difference in the orientation of the user interface for smart phone devices.

After setting new project settings. We enter the workspace view in the Pixel Studio application. The interface is quite simple and user friendly. On the right is the tools panel and on the left is the swatches panel. The most important thing in a graphics processing application is the layer panel, and the Pixel Studio application has this feature with a very convenient placement at the bottom of the screen. The middle part that remains is the canvas for processing the graphics.

Assembling Pixels to Form Objects

Next, we can use the available tools to string pixels and shape objects. In this tutorial, I used the pencil tool to create the shape of a button.

Applying Object Color

Applying color can easily be done with a variety of tools. Colors can also be selected in the swatches panel as needed. However, the most important thing in this process is the arrangement of layers. Don't forget to always make layer settings for the created objects. Layer settings will greatly affect the editing and animating process.

The next level of the color application process is to determine the shades and the highlights so that it gives a 3D impression to the object.

Applying Text

As a complement, we can add text to the object as needed. I added the text "on" and "off" on the button object that I created and of course this process must be made on a different layer.

In Pixel Studio, it's easy to apply text using the text tool. We only need to write the required words and this application has a font with a pixel typeface. Then, the text is easily resized and the set of pixels will be adjusted automatically.

Animating Process

After the object has been created, the object is ready to be animated. In principle, in making animation, we need a timeline feature in an application. In Pixel Studio, we can enable the timeline feature by pressing the tool with the celluloid ribbon icon in the tools panel.

The timeline panel will appear at the top of the view. It looks similar to the layers panel but the available boxes represent frames to be assembled so as to produce the illusion of movement.

Rendering Process

After we have assembled the frames and the illusion of movement has been generated, the animation is complete and ready to render. You can save and export animations as GIFs or image sequences.
