As most of you know from reading my biography that not only am I retired from Law Enforcement, but I am also a devout Catholic who believes deeply in my faith. I have written many articles for BizCatalyst 360°, and I am so grateful, (as I am sure many who write for this great website are), where one can express what is on their mind. I have been studying about Angels and Spiritual Warfare for some time. As a result, I have come to understand that not only is Satan real, but so are Angels, which we need to take seriously. I will begin submitting articles related to my faith, (not because I am Catholic), but because God wants those who may not believe to have the chance to do so through my articles. I welcome challenges and questions, directed in a humble way to whatever I write. Today I want to relate a story that happened to me while on patrol one night, shortly before heading into the station at the end of my shift.
I worked a shift called dog watch; it was from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. My shift kept me busy through the night, and frankly, I was tired, not feeling great, and wanted to get home to my daughter and son. As I came to the intersection to make a turn and head in, the light turned red and I waited, and as I looked over, a car zoomed through the intersection, at a high rate of speed. Well, I looked over to the person sitting in the car as they had witnessed the same thing, and their look was “Well, are you going to do anything about that”? I knew that I was just a few minutes away from ending my shift but the look on the person’s face was not something I could ignore. So, without hesitation, I threw on my overhead rotating lights and went after the vehicle, only to catch up and have it make a U-turn right in front of me.
I followed behind the vehicle, and I noted that there were two people in the car, the driver, and a passenger. As they came back to the intersection they turned and began to enter the freeway on-ramp. I hoped and prayed the driver would pull over before entering the freeway, but no go. To my great thankfulness, he did, and I saw him for a second disappear. I threw on my spotlights, focusing on the driver, and slowly exited my unit.
Suddenly, a feeling came over me as though someone was standing behind me telling me not to approach but to go to the rear of my unit and call for a backup. This feeling of a presence stayed with me until my backup arrived. We approached the car together and ordered the driver and the passenger out one by one and in a safe manner. The stop produced the passenger and driver being under the influence, the driver more so than the passenger, and in the car was open containers and to my surprise, a loaded 38 caliber revolver under the driver’s seat.
When we processed them back at the station, I asked the passenger what the problem was, and he said: his friend has been at sea for 6 months and came home to find his wife in bed with another man. In his rage, he left, started drinking, picked me up and said that if he is stopped, he will kill the officer who comes to his door. So, when he (the driver) disappeared for that split moment, he had done so retrieving the loaded weapon and was holding it to his chest waiting for me to approach. That’s when I felt that presence and I knew it was my guarding angel. I have good instincts, but this goes beyond that. So, if you don’t believe angels are real, I will disagree.
My next article will be on these Spiritual Beings that are given to each one of us the day we are born!
