Overthinking is when you dwell or worry about the same thought repeatedly. People who overthink can be paralyzed by their worries and may struggle to make decisions or take action. Overthinking can be caused by—and can contribute to—depression, anxiety, and other mental health disorders.

While overthinking itself is not a mental illness, it is associated with conditions including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and substance use disorders.

It exhausts the brain cells, thus making them incapable of generating creative insights; It decreases self-confidence and fosters self-doubt. An increased tendency to overthink leads to increased self-doubt, reinforcing the overthinking cognitive style.

"Overdo, Overthinking" is our episode 3 in season 2, where we talk about what causes overthinking and how to deal with it.
