Telling a story is the fundamental way in which we connect with others. Throughout history, we have been a people of stories. To underestimate the power of storytelling is to neglect the very reason we as creatives make art. In the medium of photography we don’t often get the opportunity to elaborate in great detail a written story, nor do we get the luxury of moving images to piece together a moment by moment play through. Photographers get to capture only one single frame of time, and learning how to create an impactful story with such limited resources will elevate your work far beyond any technique will. In this episode, Annie and I discuss our take on the storytelling process.

Annie Case graduated from Northwest College with an Associates of Applied Science in the Photographic Communications department. She is in love with the concept that she can build a career, while expressing her creative side to generate images.
Adobe Photoshop became a crucial part of her life later in her high school years. She loved finding source images, and tried to recreate them. She knew there was much more she could learn within the software, but was also very aware that if she learned how to capture those images, then she could soon become the inspiration for herself. Annie began searching for schools that would educate her in the world of photography.
Northwest College became the beginning of Annie’s career as a photographer. Annie enjoys waking up every morning with the knowledge that she has the power to create an image that will never be made in the same way she made it. She has learned to be a well-rounded photographer. Studio illustrations, on location and studio lit portraits, videography including work in the Smithsonian’s Museum, product photography for commercial promotions, and traditional film processing have all become staples of Annie's photography. The commercial aspect of photography is not all that she is passionate about. Yellowstone is an amazing area that played its part in shaping her into the photographer she is becoming. It became the birthplace of her love to capture personality of wildlife and nature.
After graduating Annie moved to Salt Lake City, Utah to start her career. She is a full time working product photographer for Style Haven and spends all her free time photographing people, landscape, and wild life. Currently, Cosmic Connection is Annie’s large project. Cosmic Connection is an astrophotographer’s dream because they can learn how to capture amazing night imagery. As an image enthusiast, Annie would love to collaborate with you and make your visions a reality!

Welcome to our first ever episode from Cosmic Connection, a place for all of your astrophotography needs! Join us as we explore the exciting world of astrophotography from The Milky Way to star trails. In this first episode, we decided to introduce ourselves and give a little of our background as astophotographers.
Annie met Roy at Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming. They were both studying for, and in 2018 completed, their associates of applied science in Photographic Communications. Both Annie and Roy grew up in Wyoming and they loved living there. Wyoming shaped the way their photographic journeys would take them. It is the place they hold most dear to their heart, even now while they find themselves falling in love with Utah and living in Salt Lake City.
