In today’s episode, Dr. Devan Munk joins me in offering his best advice for students looking to gain admission into dental school. Dr. Munk is a University of Pittsburgh Dental School Alum. He just graduated and will be going to Cleveland for an internship before beginning his 4-year residency in Oral Surgery. As a former Pitt Dental Ambassador, Devan dedicated a lot of time towards helping pre-dental students with their journey into dental school. Among other dental admission topics, Dr. Munk shares insights as to what he believes dental schools are looking for in ideal candidates. Furthermore, Dr. Munk reveals what helped him to build a strong resume for admission into dental school, as well as shares some Do’s and Do not’s during interview day. He even offers encouragement towards students who aren’t feeling as confident about being accepted this cycle. Please stay tuned for this whole interview, because Dr. Munk offers remarkable guidance on what it takes to be accepted into dental school.
Here are some of the questions I had for Dr. Munk:
1.What are Dental Schools looking for within their candidates?
How many dental students do you know of that had to apply more than once to gain admission; what is your best advice for students who are worried about not getting in right away?
What are some things you did early on to help build your dental school resume?
How many schools should someone apply to; when can they expect to start hearing back for interviews?
What is interview day like?
What are some dos and do nots on interview day?
Could you please offer some encouragement to any students who are being negatively impacted by the events of the coronavirus?
