OnePlus has announced that it will provide four major platform updates and five years of security patches for selected devices in 2023. The brand has not confirmed the names of these devices. However, the support window for its flagship products may be extended. This would imply that the forthcoming OnePlus 11 series will receive Android 17 before it is formally obsolete. Additionally, this would put OnePlus on pace with Samsung, the current leader in OTA Android updates. However, there is no assurance as to how quickly OnePlus devices will receive these updates. In addition, because security updates are only promised every two months, you may go without critical security updates for a month or more. However, it is a step forward for OnePlus and Android in general. If OnePlus goes on this path, it wouldn't be surprising to see Oppo follow suit.
