WhatsApp is reportedly testing a chat transfer feature for Android users which would remove its dependency on Google Drive. The feature will allow users to move their chat history to a new Android device via a QR code, without having to manually back up their chat history to Google Drive. The feature is currently in testing for select beta testers with WhatsApp beta for Android. The release date for all Android devices is yet to be confirmed. This comes as Meta, WhatsApp's parent company, has been adding new features to the messaging app, including the ability to save disappearing messages and using the same account on four devices at once.
