Her grandmother can see soulmates. She's a divorce lawyer. In Lynda Cohen Loigman's new novel The Matchmaker's Gift we read a wonderful tale of hope, family relationships, Jewish identity, and finding love (or having someone else help you find it). Sara and Abby, Grandmother and Granddaughter, have been given the same gift- the ability to see people's soulmates. When Sara, a Jewish immigrant living in New York's Lower East Side in the 1920s, starts making matches, the older matchmakers start getting angry that she's taking their business. In the present day, Abby is slowly coming to terms with her gift. However, she's gonna find it hard to make money as a divorce lawyer when she knows her clients are actually soulmates.
