Mark Kimura (Ph.D.) is an AI engineer and computer vision expert. He is a senior scientist at Oceanit where he is developing an A.I. system to detect infrastructure damages (using TensorFlow Object Detection API), as well as other computer vision and miscellaneous A.I. projects. He has also developed a user-friendly A.I. toolbox for building Convolutional Neural Networks based on Keras/TensorFlow. He holds a master’s and a doctorate in regional planning from Cornell University.

In this podcast, Mark talks about what is exciting and new in AI including ChatGPT, and how AI continues to make inroads into our daily lives. He goes over the benefits and potential dis-benefits to low-income employment and how these disruptions will impact society. He also touches on how emerging markets can access AI and the philosophical dilemma that AI poses to our approach to work.
