Jeremiah 7:1-34By Christian HoganJeremiah pleads with the people Judah to hear God and amend their ways, but the people of Judah will not. They believe that God will be a refuge from the consequences of their sin even if they do not follow God’s ways. Just like the people of Judah, we all are prone to believe deceptive words that lead us to sin and eventually lead us to dehumanizing idolatry. God mercifully draws people to repent, but if they will not, the only just response from a holy God is wrath against sin and sinners. God mercifully sends many prophets, including Jeremiah, to a deaf and dull people, but they will not listen. Eventually God sends his own son Jesus, who makes a way through his death and resurrection for spiritually dull people to be restored to God. Will you hear God’s word and amend your ways and believe the good news of Jesus?
