Searching for independence, Mary ran away from California to Hawaii at nineteen to escape her chaotic teenage life and leave her reputation behind, but was living proof that wherever you go, there you are.

Discos and the beach were her new playgrounds but proved to be a bad influence on her. She found a great job but quit it to move in with a cocaine dealer, strapped a gun to her ankle that she didn’t know how to use, got arrested, and impulsively married a man that wasn’t suited for her.

Was she a confident risk taker or just ignorant of what could go wrong? You can decide.
