As we approach Mother's Day and my 33rd birthday, a lot of emotion has come up for me. This year is the 9 year anniversary of my mom's passing. As I started reflecting on the time since my mom has passed, I started to feel the sadness and magnitude of my mom not being here in the physical realm. While I have processed so much grief around my mom's passing, sometimes it pops up to surprise me again. In this episode I discuss how that grief shows up and what I do to process it in these moments almost 9 years later. Of course, I still get sad and miss her. Of course, I wonder what she would think about the person I have become. Of course, I still find myself having full body sobs from time to time. Learning to accept and welcome whatever emotion comes up has really allowed me to process the moments of grief as they arise. Accepting that I will feel both sadness and gratitude at the same time has made the process a whole lot easier. In this episode I discuss what my grief looks like almost 9 years later and what I do to allow myself to heal through these moments. Grief looks different for everyone, but acceptance of whatever comes up is the key to allow yourself to heal no matter how long it has been since you have experienced a loss.
