Bearing God's Name: Why Sinai Still Matters

This portion reminds us of the covenant agreement Yahweh has made with Israel. This portion gives the blessings of obedience and the curses of disobedience that are the stipulations of this covenant. Deuteronomy is written like an ancient near east treaty. In the discussion we share some thought from Dr. Carmen Imes recent book, Bearing God’s Name: Why Sinai Still Matters, which gives an exposition of the story of the Exodus and what it meant to be the people of God in the OT and what it means now. We are now His children and also must choose our obedience. Their are consequences to our actions: blessings or curses. We choose what we receive but scripture encourages us to choose life and blessing.
