Breath in the fresh aroma and exhale. One more time, breathe in and exhale. Is it just me. Do you feel the fresh scent is very stress relieving?
Today's topic is the difference in types of coffee. There are only two types of coffee. One is Arabic, and the other is Robusta. Even though there are only two types, the difference is between them is like night and day. In this episode, I'm going to cover them both.
Now 70 percent of the world's coffee drinkers drink Arabic. It has a smooth and soothing taste. The flavors can range from a hint of chocolate to, fruity and sugary berry blend. Arabic is more of a soft morning kiss, whereas Robusta is a wake-up slap in the face. Arabic has less than half the caffeine of Robusta. The actual bean of Arabic is long and thin. It's grown in high climates and comes at a more expensive cost. Colombia, Brazil, Ethiopia, and my favorite Jamaican blue mountains make the best Arabic coffee. Hawaii makes a great coffee known as Kona. The majority of the restaurants and coffee shops use Arabic. Now Robusta is more of grainy, gritty taste, and peanut taste. It's grown at lower altitudes than the Arabic. It's way less expensive but has twice the caffeine of Arabic. Arabic has two types called Typica and Bourbon.
In comparison, Robusta has just the kind called Canephora. They are the same plant, But the Difference is the bean and flavor quality. Robusta has a way higher level of acidity than Arabic. Some companies cut their cost by blending the two. Have you ever tried both of them? Are you team Arabic or team Robusta? Let me know at www.notwithoutcoffe.com. Arabic is more of a soft, gentle morning kiss. At the same time, Robusta is a morning slap to the face. Do you prefer flavor or a high caffeine jolt? Does cost come into mind on your choice? I love the smoothness of the Arabic.
Can we place a price on quality? Robust also has been compared to taste like burnt rubber or burnt tires. The more potent caffeine mainly causes it in Robusta. : About 75% of the world's coffee production is Arabica, about 25% being Robusta. Brazil is the most significant Arabica producer, and Vietnam produces the most Robusta. If you were, you could taste the difference blindfolded. I know a few coffee drinks who like to mix and grind them both up. That is something I need to try. Robusta is mainly used in instant coffee, espresso, and as a filler in some blends. Robusta grows in low altitudes around 200 to 600 meters. Arabic grows around 600 to 2000 meters. Also, the Robusta plant gives a higher yield and lower sugar content than the Arabic plant. The two plants look very similar, but the Robusta plant takes 10-11 months for the flower to cherry, and the Arabic takes only nine months.
Fellow coffee lover, the difference goes on forever. What team do you side with, team Arabic or team Robusta? Have you tried both types, by the way? Have you blended the two?
