As a U.S. Customs Agent of mixed race, Abigail Smith (Abi) has never totally felt comfortable in her own skin. From a young age, she’s struggled to reconcile her Mexican heritage and culture as a patriotic American. Growing up, her older brother, Pedro, called her a “potato,” meaning brown on the outside, white on the inside. In sharp contrast, Pedro never had a problem being himself, to a fault. But there’s another big difference between Pedro and Abi: she is a U.S. citizen, he is not.

This difference comes to a head when ICE conducts a massive raid at Pedro’s workplace, leading to his deportation. With a baby on the way back home, Pedro panics, turning to a coyote to help him cross the border. A coyote is someone who aids in crossing migrants through the border illegally. But things go awry when Pedro is shot by a border vigilante while trying to get home. Soon, Abi finds herself on a cross-border journey to save her brother, no matter the cost.

Starring Stephanie Sigman (Spectre, Narcos) and Tenoch Huerta (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), this show explores the collision between an American woman’s ignorance and the tragic realities of a lawless border in a gripping tale about family, loyalty and homeland.
