Emmett tells of the earliest Westlakers. Before Eanes, the Snuff Box School was their only education. Selling cedar and whiskey was their livelihood. They walked to Congress Ave. for groceries. One early Westlaker, Buck Simpson, was drafted into World War I and became Austin's War Hero.
